Royal Enfield Classic 350 Lakes Tour Episode 7 - All good things come to an end!

- After a fantastic few days on the Royal Enfield Classic 350 riding some of the countries most spectacular roads it’s time to head for home.
All good things come to an end! But it’s not over quite yet. I still have the ride home heading out via Kendal, Dent, Horton in Ribblesdale, Settle, and Ilkley.
All through the tour the Royal Enfield Classic 350 never missed a beat, it’s climbed all terrific lakes passes including the 1-in-3 Harnknott pass, the steepest pass in England. And it’s still returned an amazing MPG, working out at just 8 pence a mile.
Everywhere I stopped people came over to look and chat about it. I joke it’s the REDF valve that sticks, the Royal Enfield Delay Factor.
Planning is well underway for the next adventure, for now let’s sit back and enjoy the end of the Royal Enfield Classic 350 Lakes Tour.

The Steam Yatch Gondola is a fascinating story of reclamation. The fella who looks after the engine as a schoolboy decided that steam engines were his thing and got a job with steam trains. Moved on from there to the SY Gondola. What a career plan! Thanks for this great series.
A great series with some cracking roads and stunning scenery. Thanks for taking us along and adding a few more areas to my ‘places to visit’ list.

Hi Dave, I really enjoyed that series, thank you. The first viaduct after Dent village is Arten Gill and the next Dent Head. The mountain was, in fact, Ingleborough, Pen-y-ghent was to your left in the region of Horton. Right know all me or what, eh Dave?
Edward you're a legend! It's good to know what they are all called. All I can be sure of is I love riding up there, been riding the area since I was 16 and never tire of it.

@@thatblokeonamotorbike Hi Dave, no, I live on the Isle of Man. I love the Dales and the Settle Carlisle Railway. I have been coming to the Dales two or three times a year for twenty plus years on bike trips ( nearly too old and achy now for the bikes, just about hanging on) or by car with my wife.

Your right Edward. Lovely Yorkshire Dales. Remember many years ago touring roads around the Three Peaks on a 1954 Francis Barnett Kestrel 66, 122cc!! Have also walked the Three Peaks in just under 12 hours, twice!! We love Settle, great for cafes! Thanks Dave for the whole series, will be looking out for more of your adventures. Would like to ride my RE 350 in the Dales! Perhaps one day! 👍

Hi Nick, thanks for the comment, I love the scenery up there as well, when the traffic is light you could be back in any timespan you wanted, they suit the Classic 350 so well.

With the temperatures now hovering around freezing here in the US Midwest I'm motorcycling vicariously through your videos. I have a Classic 350 with the same color scheme so I can imagine I'm looking out over my own handlebars. 🙂 I hope to get over there some day and ride these roads first hand - just need to figure out the logistics. Thanks for posting these!

You got your Penygent mixed up with Ingleborough. You came through some of my favourite places on this one mate. Dent Dale is a lovely Dale.

I used to have my bike training school in Barnsley. Still have a unit over there with my bikes in.

I'm considering the Classic 350 for pottering around the back roads of The Highlands but none of the reviews I've seen told me what I need to know - how it handles hills, hairpin turns and rough surfaces. Now I know. Liked, subscribed and thanks for a great series of videos.

Great video series. Some interesting variety of countryside; a little bit greener than Australia.
Hi, thanks for the comment, this year we had the hottest summer on record with water shortages, and countryside turning more brown than green in some areas. The Lakes is the wettest area in England so did keep it's green colours. at the moment is Ice and cold. Ride safe, Dave

Me being a tight Yorkshire type ..,...you are saving me the cost of buying a GoPro as you and the Schrödingers Cat lad are filming some of my favourite roads for me......well done. Great tour & beautiful scenery, thanks for taking us along. Quick question, I have a 2022 RE350 Classic, Halcyon Grey. Does your chrome headlight "eyebrow" on the nacelle vibrate & rattle? Mine does, tightened the bolts, no difference - going to examine it further & maybe wedge foam in a spot if possible. Just wondering if this is the norm, or I got a "rattley" one. My classic headlight trim doesn't vibrate, BUT I have a 350 that was sold for the Indian home market, then imported and fitted with a sidecar. The headlight shade on that one did vibrate, I solved it with a bead of silicon sealant under the shade where it meets the headlight, that stopped it.

Thanks Jeff, it's a hard question to answer. I love both bikes but have to come down on the side of the RE on the tighter climbing and twisting roads. It's lighter and not as top heavy so feels more confident when it gets a bit sketch.
There were times I missed the power of the BM on the open roads, but the sound of the RE made up for it. Ride safe mate, Davve
