I really believe that Dylan is the one true genius of popular music..
    This helps to show why

Nobody can imitate Bob Dylan! He’s too original & unique to his own stanza’s & poetry and story telling. One of the best bards of our age🤘🤘

Amazingly musically this sounds like Dylan at his most Beefheartian , Dylan just doing one more thing that I thought wasn't possible ...

A heartfelt thank you to whoever decided to tape this (and keep it)!
I love how the band has almost no idea what Bob is about to do at any moment. Yet they’re along for the insane ride.

The bassist, Tony Marsico, wrote briefly about this in the December 2020 issue of MOJO. Dylan had invited several somewhat locally-known punk musician's he had no previous relationship with to come jam with him a couple times a week or so at his house in Malibu for about a year. Then he asked them if they wanted to appear on Letterman, which Marsico thought was an odd choice at the time. They didn't know what songs they'd be doing 'til "the last second", and apparently weren't told what key they'd be playing them in at all.
Dylan played harmonica about a year later on the Cruzados' song "Rising Sun", which was the last time Marsico saw him.

I’m watching this because of “Down The Highway”, a book about Dylan’s life. According to that book, Dylan always had trouble with maintaining a lasting relationship with anyone. He would hang with you for a while and no matter how much he appears to like you, he would disappear without a trace from your life without a single word of acknowledgment.

I seem to remember reading the band was pleading to his manager to give them SOME sort of clue as the (live) airtime approached: "C'mon, man, we're shitting bricks here!"

I remember reading a quote from a legendary guitarist - it may have been Eric Clapton, Mick Ronson, Ron Wood, or someone else on that level - who said that playing with Dylan is completely unpredictable. You never know what he is going to do next. You just have to watch his hands and try to keep up. And yet, great musicians from different genres have jumped at the chance to record or tour with Dylan. The respect that Bob earns from fellow artists is practically unsurpassed!

I find it interesting how tentative Bob is in his delivery of License to Kill. On the show it was delivered with conviction! After a few re-listens, I would say that he almost croons license to kill!

Bob must have felt like he was playing with the hawks again! This is some raw rock n roll here, the great effect of little rehearsal time is simplicity and nerves. Well great if you're not having to perform haha

@@excelsior999 Dylan is way way deeper than that, where have you been all these years in which he's been writing, singing, playing musical instruments etc.?
He even dances now and then, that's way deeper than whale feces.

    • @excelsior999
      @excelsior999 ปีที่แล้ว

@@ilovedylan3943 A circus bear can dance; he can't sing; he can't play the harmonica, which is just a part of his Act. (Stevie Wonder can play the harmonica.) There is nothing remarkable about his guitar-playing.
He has written many great songs, a lot of mediocre songs, and quite a few stinkers. The truth is that Zimmy has been "running on Empty" for decades.

I Love Dylan...what a brain He must have to be able to write all those lyrics to hundreds of songs AND remember them when He sings! That alone makes him a musical genius 😊❤

I need this to be explained to me...seriously one of the most amazing pure rock performances in history. But Bob just did this a a one-off. Why? How? Why didn't he take the plugs out on your with him and make more music? They would have been just amazing. Instead they never heard from him again. How???
