I hold my hands up and admit I f***ed up with my first edit of this restoration and I apologize so here is the re-edited version I hope you enjoy it :)
Playing mind games with us 🤣. Got the first notification when I was busy . Thought cool I will watch that shortly. Came on to watch it and it wasn't there , thought I was going round the twist lol
maybe I'm just one of the few, but I take the time to read your descriptions. Keep doing what you're doing...it seems many of us enjoy it just the way it is.
Got to agree with other commenters, there's a hell of a difference between the restoration of a chainsaw with 50 years of wear, tear, sawdust and gunk, and an "abandoned" motorcycle with mud wiped over it, as some channels do. I love the attention to detail, for someone who in the past used levers, hammers and swearing to remove covers, using or making the right tool really is the way to go! Enjoyable video. This channel and M539 are the best on here.
Thank you I'm glad you appreciate my authenticity everything you see on my channel is 100% genuine no fake aging or " deliberately " lost or broken parts that magically appear back as good as new etc etc lol so many fake restorers out there im just glad people like yourself can see that all my stuff is genuine and the hours of work are spent on the item not just faking it to look worse than it is.
My late grandfather bought one of these too, we still have it and me and my dad were chopping up logs with it over Christmas, the thing is brilliant so much power and well built and reliable. Good work 👍
I just bought an jonsereds 621 and it looks almost like in your restoration video... I will start and disasambly, clean, paint and put it at work. Thanks for this video !
When I saw this video I squealed like a school girl! Restoring chainsaws and making your own tools to boot! You’re a stickler for the details and I love it. Thanks for taking the time to make the video.
I always read the comments, and really appreciate the detail in both written and video format. This is still the best most authentic restoration channel on youtube. 👍🇦🇺
Mate, you're one heck of an artist ! And yes, we want you to continue with your nice detailed descriptions under the video !!! 😉Cheers and massive respect from Paris.
And another project done! Liked the video. And i'm one of the many who did not read the description.... never knew you put that much in it. I will check it next time👌 Thanx!
I just discovered your channel watching the CR250 restoration. Having restored numerous bikes to near perfection liked your videos very much. But this being a restoration channel you have the perfect restoration project. That Snap-on tool box!! It needs your attention. Restoring tool boxes are great projects.
I think that lathe needs to be your next restoration project 😁😁 Appreciate the authenticity of your restorations, unlike many who have stupid music/waffle on endlessly and restore items that they had obviously bought at a boot sale and chucked out in their garden for a year to "distress" them.
Thank you I'm glad you appreciate my authenticity everything you see on my channel is 100% genuine no fake aging or " deliberately " lost or broken parts that magically appear back as good as new etc etc lol so many fake restorers out there im just glad people like yourself can see that all my stuff is genuine and the hours of work are spent on the item not just talking about it lol
More fool me for not reading your descriptions in the past. I do now, and I’m looking back to them on your previous videos. Thoroughly enjoy watching your skill. 🍻🥃
Love seeing a Jonsereds restoration. I'm on my second Jonsereds saw in 40+ years. It is sad to see such a storied brand now just a part of a conglomerate tool company.
I love this channel ❤ Questions: 1. Do you ever have any nuts/bolts/washers etc left over at the end? 😂 2. Where do you get all the torque settings from? 3. How do you remember how it all goes back together? 4. What’s your day job?
Thank you very much glad you like it :), To answer your questions yes i do have hardware left sometimes but thats only because I've replaced it with something better lol , The torque settings i use are usually from t he manufacturer but if not available i look up charts online to give me the correct setting for bolt size, thread pitch and material its being used in. Years of practice and my main job is professional auto spray painter and panel beater.
Very nice restoration and it’s a family heirloom to boot. I love your channel just the way it is. And I read the comments that you put in as well! Thanks for all that you do. You are truly amazing!!!
That was class to see the way you done up that old jonsered chainsaw the best chainsaw around I have two of them in a loft in my shed I wish I hands like you to do them up like that keep up your good word thanks
Thanks to the magic of video editing we didn't need to see you struggling getting the case halves back over the crankshaft...been there already by myself... 😉😜 Thx for the vid, nice to watch as always! 👍👍👍
Thank you, Yeah its a good way of doing it since it doesn't stress any components like press fitting does plus this way is super easy and cool looking lol
Wow a special present ahead of the holidays.. Thank you mate.. I wonder how it feels to use something after has been restored to pristine museum quality. Thank you as always showcasing what it means to deliver quality consistently.
Enjoy it my friend :) Believe it or not its actually quite a scary feeling using an item that you've spent hundreds of hours restoring as if something goes wrong all your work can be ruined in an instant . As always thank you for watching and leaving a kind comment :)
I actually owned the model before this as a sixteen year old, (Jonsered 60) It felled timber in both Scotland and Wales and never missed a beat. Great saws.
I went back and had another look - looks like the same saw to me. And 1. why would you bother to use another saw and 2. Where would you get another 50 year saw?
I have this exact saw in my shed still runs and I still use it once in a while for fallen trees and limbs around the yard. I read your description and am amazed at how old it is. I found this one on the side of the road, must’ve fallen out of a truck.
Awesome, I cant imagine there are too many of these saws still around as they had a nasty habit of rotting the fuel tank out if left empty for periods of time.
@@RRCRestoration I will keep that in mind. I usually leave some fuel in it and when I use it just put in some fresh fuel and it starts right up with a few pulls.
I do enjoy watching your restorations and also read your comments and info etc, so keep them coming. Also be good to see what products and components you used, and how/why you chose them. For example bearings - mainly use SKF but how did you select the right ones etc. Keep up the great work
I've got a few saws to clean up and get running myself, though not quite to the awesome extent you have done here. Yes I like the details on things, it is helpful.
I just found your channel. I subscribed, liked and shared. I am a fan of Jonsered chainsaws.I bought one used about 30 years ago. It has never failed me. A big hello from Upper east Tennessee. From whats left of the USA.
So nice to see someone doing a restoration that is a proper restoration rather than a "restoration" that totally destroys the original object and turns it into paisley wall art. I had this video pop up and clicked on it with some trepidation, but was very pleased with what I found here. You do a good job mate, and must really bust your tail to get all of those interesting camera angles and then edit the whole thing together! I don't always read descriptions, but I do if I think they will say something useful, which is often determined by the first few lines TH-cam lets you see without clicking on "more". In this case, I read your description. 🙂
I absolutely loved the video. There was one part of it that had me biting my nails. The sorcery part where you magically heated and also froze the bearing parts. For a knave like me that was almost unfathomable. I subscribed and liked. Thank you.
Don't worry it will be making a comeback I wanted to try a more fast paced restoration this time but in doing so i feel the unique RRC quality has been lost if that makes sense?
Good to see you cooked the pongbox this time it helps to get rid of the spooge, I don't know if you did or not but it helps to lift up on the bar when adjusting the chain tension and tightening the cover nuts. Sounded a bit lean when running(high idol) Fit for the saw museum now good job.

LOL You shall be flogged... until the next upload.
No worries😂😂🇨🇦🇨🇦
Hey, I watched the previous version and liked it. Also, keep up the descriptions, there's always interesting insight in them :)
All good we’ll forgive you this time😂
Top job the old girls still got it 👍🏼

Thank you, I will keep up with the descriptions then even if only one person reads it its worth it :)
@@RRCRestoration you've got more than one person reading them 😉
Keep up the descriptions! I always read them, on your channel and others. Good extra info that doesn't fit in the vid.

Fantastic. You make truly difficult stuff look simple. The sign of a master.
My late grandfather bought one of these too, we still have it and me and my dad were chopping up logs with it over Christmas, the thing is brilliant so much power and well built and reliable. Good work 👍
Beautiful job on a beautiful tool. Those thin alloy castings are pretty amazing. Your great-grandnippers will still be using that saw.

Remarkable! What a privilege to see a true craftsman at work. Here's someone who really knows what he's doing. Excellent job ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thank you so much :)
These are great chainsaws. I recently repaired an old 621 for a friend. Didn't take much to sort it out. They made them very well indeed
I always read the comments, and really appreciate the detail in both written and video format. This is still the best most authentic restoration channel on youtube. 👍🇦🇺

You’ve done your grandfather proud. Better than day 1 . Keep it up , we love the videos

I have a 621. The coolest sounding chainsaws out there for sure.
Nostalgia returned to it's former glory. Well done!!!

That's an awesome repair on the cooling fins there. I do love a nice 2-stroke tear down.
Thank you :)
Of all your restorations, this one was crying out for help more then all your others, great job.
Thank you glad you enjoyed it :)
Great work, and I read the descriptions so please keep them going 👍👍👍

Ah you know of the struggle, good man :) haha editing makes everything look so much better. Glad you enjoyed the video :)
Class restoration video of a very well built chainsaw and great memories
Excellent work, Sir! Very impressive. I especially liked the trick of heating the crank bearings to apply them easily to a frozen crankshaft.
Thank you, Yeah its a good way of doing it since it doesn't stress any components like press fitting does plus this way is super easy and cool looking lol
This is next level repair/ refurbish of old machinery, clearly your knowledge is very vast and thank you for sharing. You got a new subscription.
I was getting nervous at the end, I thought you weren’t going to start it. Loved this video

I have actually waited for you to restore an old chainsaw! And I wasn't disappointed, amazing job!
As usual, truly remarkable restoration, well done to you sir. Please keep up with descriptions. Always enjoy reading them after watching.

Great way to compete a press fit without a press! Shaft in the freezer, bearings in a warm oven! 👍👍
Works like a charm every time :)
Making units look mint and making it look easy!
Cheers Craig :)
That turned out fantastic. Well done you.
Another cracking job done there Big Man. Well done👍🏻👍🏻

Keep sharing the knowledge and stories mate, adds great value to the resto's.
Great restoration as always. :)
Thank you, I'm really glad you are enjoying it :)
That came out awesome. What a beautiful saw. Nice job sir.

Looked as if it was warmer in the freezer than the workshop.
Keep it up. Great content
Haha you're probably right about that the cold weather is brutal at the moment.

Super job 👍👍👍 strong built saw
Greetings from Denmark 🇩🇰 and a happy new year to all.

I have one that is in excellent original condition. Love the way it feels and cuts. Perfer it over modern saws.
Beautiful. Leatherface would be proud!😄

Thank you very much! :) BRRR now that's chilly!
Well done. Nice workshop
That will go another 50 years!👍🏼
Lets hope so :)
To be honest, I rarely read descriptions. I generally only go there looking for more info on something I saw on screen.
Love your work 👍
Thanks for the feedback every bit i get helps create a clearer picture of what you guys want / need from the channel :)
Top job.
One thing - the chain should be tensioned while the front of the blade is supported in 'up' position.
I miss seeing all of the little bits like you used to show. For example broken housing, pull handle, gasket sealant and that sort of stuff
Don't worry it will be making a comeback I wanted to try a more fast paced restoration this time but in doing so i feel the unique RRC quality has been lost if that makes sense?
fantastic job lad well done keep up the good work
Good to see you cooked the pongbox this time it helps to get rid of the spooge, I don't know if you did or not but it helps to lift up on the bar when adjusting the chain tension and tightening the cover nuts. Looked like the poor thing hadn't had a bath for 50 years lol amazing how well these old saws lasted with the bird catcher air filters. Sounded a bit lean when running(high idol) Fit for the saw museum now good job.
Yes, I noticed the chain tensioning method as well..... I suspect it won't get used much, though.
Great job as usual 👍
Happy new year 😉
