That drill press look like the little brother to mine which is 3 phase and has one step more in the belt "transmission". Great job and I must say that these kind of clips are educational, inspiring and motivation. Just pure sounds and no silly track..
I have the same model, 30 years old now and I'd judged it about ready for the bin (with a bit of wobble, and that same spring missing). Your video may have given it a stay of execution as you show details that encourage me to try and tweak it before deciding on its fate. Thanks for posting. 👍
Got the exact same drill press, and it makes me mad with its drifting when drilling and noises and quirks of wear, and now i feel confident i can fix it🙌🏻 Thanks a LOT, really great restoration and vid🙏🏻🥳🏆
I have the exact same drill press and in need of a full restoration. I've been putting it off for years and, thanks to you, I am now motivated to tackle it! Thanks!
That was an incredible journey from the beginning to the end of that restoration!!! You did an outstanding job on every part! It looks great and that quality of work will last for a very long time. The red paint job looks beautiful.
This was among the BEST tool restoration videos I've seen! I have a VERY SIMILAR, maybe slightly larger drill press to clean up and get in shape. I can now say I'm familiar with ALL components of the drill press to which I give you MANY THANKS!!! I was a little apprehensive about replacing bearings should I need to but now that I know how these are put together I have a clear picture. I also picked up on many other details you used on your restoration. You REALLY went to town on this!!! It is MUCH APPRECIATED!!
What a brilliant restomod. As I was watching I thought to myself "This would look even better if it was red". You definitely made the right choice. Thank you for showing people that with some hard work even old equipment can be made new. Its far better then throwing history into the trash and buying shotty cheap equipment from (I won't say the name, but it starts with C and ends with hina). Thank you for another great video. Much respect 🙏 🫡.
I think this is the best restoration channel because: 1 - the quality of the work done is extremely high. 2 - the filming and editing skills are top notch. 3 - just the right amount of cheek and humor. 4 - great insight and knowledge on many different mechanical areas. And last but not least, hands down the best accent of any resto channel out there, no contest! lol Thank you for another hugely enjoyable upload. Another beautiful job we all have become so familiar with from you.
Cant imagine how many items you have taken apart previously to strip down machines like this so easily let alone put them back together. Thank you for another great video. Cant wait for the Sketchy Grinder rebuild, that will be epic as I bet there’s more than a few parts you’ll have to make.
Me dad has a drill press, different brand name on it but it's the EXACT same drill press as this one...... his is missin the depth stop too and the return spring is broken also 😂 it has the same whiney bearings and wobble in the spindle too...... it's well overdue an freshen up. I enjoyed this lad, ya done a fine job on it 🤙😁
it looks exactly the same as a table drill that was made in Czechoslovakia!! I had it in the workshop. The only difference is in the power buttons. Even the color was the same!
Thank you excellent video, I now feel confident enough after watching this to repair my late Father’s pillar drill, the twin sister to yours, that melted on me a couple of years ago whilst using it to shape wood! i say melted, lot of smoke and dripping from the motor area, rather interesting experience! Thanks again!
Amazing to watch and even for people like me that has no experience with mechanical stuff the quality of your work and attention to details is recognizable and in my opinion at the top of the game congratulations for posting such interesting videos, thank you
Nicely done, I am getting ready to restore a 1980's vintage 6 x 48 belt sander with a 10 inch disk sander, old cast iron, really excited to get into it. Your video has inspired me to get it done lol. Thanks for a great video.
That is truly a nice job. I've restored a few machines and tools down through the years and like your self I like to do a job right. and I have to say on my best day I could do no better. keep up the good work. Kind greetings from Ireland.
WOW i have an EXACT one like that, about 20 years old and in disrepair in my workshop. it was ust by chance scrolling tru youtube in my homepage that i saw this. and its a nice 40 minutes so it will be detailed. thank you for putting that pic as the thumbnail. thank you, or id have surely scrolled past it as i didnt even know the model name
Sweet, an old school "Really Random Channel" video. 🤩 These videos were the reason I subscribed to your channel back in 2017. 😊 And another great restoration mate. cheers. 👏👏👏
I have a few machines that could do with new berrings and re-painting. This video shows me pretty well everything I need to know to do the job. THANKS.
I usually don't fancy watching art being created, but I'll make an exception this time. Could have made the return spring housing, cleaned her up and slapped some new bearings in and called it good. But no, had to go the extra 50 steps. Great work!
Brilliant, as usual. Great to see the drill get some loving, mind you, the red paint job was a surprise. I was sure you'd be going for original "grotty" green. Sounded great at the end. When I fixed outboard motors, the recoil starter springs were a nightmare. No dafety wires for me, I had to hand wind the buggers myself. One or two did ping across the workshop! Happy days. Take care. Cheers, Norm.
Hey Norm always nice to see you . Glad you enjoyed the restoration, i did think about going for hammered green again but thought red would be cooler and it would match the Snap-On boxes.
You do so many camera angles, and yet I never see another camera in the shot. I can only assume that you’re constantly reframing, which must be a LOT of additional work. A wonderful restoration, as always!
Perfect job. Although I think you made a very good one, that missing coil-spring housing is a matching fit among all these 5 speed drill press, made/sold by: Draper, MachineMart, Silverline and rest of the chineese made ones can be bought on e-bay/amazon. Majority of these pillar drills like wobbling and would benefit from a little tune-up and a replacement of a better quality chuck and aligning both pulleys.
Very nicely done. It will serve you for many decades now. You need to install a light to help you line up those very small drill bits to the center punched dimple... Thumbs Up!
Good job on it.& nice shield guard plate cover you put on it aswell to A mate. Take care.& stay safe.& in good health.& shape due to this horrible viruses outbreaks now days to man.
You've just saved me £9.99; just about to buy a film on Amazon and thought let's just check to see if its cheaper on TH-cam then this pops up... no competition!
My father had exactly the same one, but I didn't keep it because I thought I weren't able to restore it. After seeing your video I'm sad that I didn't give it a try. 🥺
I don't know we're allowed to say hnggg on the internet anymore, but hhhnnngggg! Very satisfying rebuild very well done. Loved the paint stripper time lapse too!
It is always so nice to see a new video and see how far you've come (also still glad you're talking in the videos!) I love how you painted it so red that the camera was like "nope" in the close ups. Keep up the good work!
Thank you so much for your comment im really glad you are still enjoying my videos :) Aww i know its so annoying when the colour is so vivid the camera just refuses to pick it up haha
That... Looks. Gorgeous!!! Damn the data sticker was an awesone touch too love that youre putting your logo on things. Never know, maybe one day something you restore might migrate all the way over here
Those Nu-tool machines were crap when they were brand new and certainly didn’t improve with age. They did have price in their favour and I owned one or two back in the day. The best one I ever had was a 50 litre air compressor which worked well and lasted for a lot of years, eventually dying in 2016/17. I don’t know when they went out of business, but it was a long time ago. You made a nice job of that, best I’ve ever seen a Nu-tool machine look.
Love the red rather than a dull grey or the old green. Also appreciate the patience and thoroughness. Cheers
You sir are a pillar of the You tube community! A perfect drill ready to get pressed into action.
Love that comment thanks for leaving it and watching my video :)
I watched the hole video, and it wasn't boring in the least! :-)
Every time. Every single time. So engaging, no distracting music or dialogue . Absolutely masterful. Keep the good work, man.
Agree 100%
Class work man.
Next, that bench grinder
Thank you very much :)
NO NO NOOOOOOO
The bench grinder stays as is....
It would be sacrilegious to put bells & whistles on earth SKETCHY 😡😤🤦🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️🥸

Great job and I must say that these kind of clips are educational, inspiring and motivation. Just pure sounds and no silly track..
Seeing other channels disassemble stuff = boring as heck.
Seeing RRC disassemble stuff = fascinating.
It's in the video editing.

pillar drill
Seriously, i am more excited to watch an RRC video, than a multi-million dollar hollywood movie !
Thats some high praise indeed :)
I do agree! Absolutely!
Agree!
I second that motion
Same here, I very rarely watch TV and movies anymore.
Honda red is such a lovely colour for a drill press. Just needs a matching bench grinder now.
Just bought the exact drill at a car-boot sale yesterday. Very pleased to find this vid. Thanks for posting.
''So, my only choice is to MAKE A NEW ONE'' *a terrifying roar echoes in the distance* ....He has awoken....My Mechanics cometh!

I was looking forward to seeing a fresh coat of that industrial green color, but the red came out looking superb! Yet another great looking piece 👍👍

Great restoration Mr RRC, I like how you didn't paint it the same colour and made it your own. 👍
Wonderful. Of course, it had to be red. You have the best restoration channel on TH-cam sir!
Thank you so much for your kind comment :)
Man, you are a legend, perfection is your business.
Wow, thanks! i appreciate that :)
How the heck did I miss this three months ago? Gives me the confidence to have a go at changing the bearings on my own drill press now. Cheers dude.

Looks splendid in Honda red, with better fit and finish than when it was brand new, Lovely job.

I wouldn't dare use that now, I'd have it in my living room to show off 🤭, another great video

That was some of the most satisfying paint stripping content I've ever seen
... i would have kept the green paint as it has acquired years iof patina. Excellent job by Mr RRC on the restoration though!
Glad you enjoyed it :)

Brilliant as usual, the poor old grinder has been overlooked again
This was a great watch! I love to see old things restores. It must be the pastor in me.

When the time it takes to restore costs so much more than it would cost to buy a replacement, you know you're in it for the love of the project...
@Redo Restorations it was worth it.
So glad you went for a different colour. The difference is function and looks is awesome.
Thank you very much :)
Videos like these are way RRC is my favorite restoration channel. Well done and thank you!

I have a strange fascination with bmc green for workshop tools and engines but it looked great in red. Brilliant video as always!

Red is always the best color! this turned out amazing as always!
I love the time-lapse paint stripper videos, just the fact that the otherwise -hard-to-remove paint surrenders so easily.
Entertainment and mechanics... good combination! Regards from Germany.
