The actor for Reed is probably one of my favorite comic castings ever since he really looks like him AND has the character to back it up. Reed is among the smartest men on earth, but he’s the most dense. Love it. Great video, cheers.

I have mixed feelings regarding Ioan Gruffudd's performance as Reed Richards.
I think the actor did his best with what he was given to work with, but the writers did a poor job of portraying both Richard's genius and his charisma.
In these films he comes across as a harmless nerd, which makes his leadership of the team (and their ability to take on villains like Victor Von Doom) much less believable.
Unfortunately, at the time, Hollywood typically portrayed intellect as nerdism, even though this wasn't the case in the comics. Singer's X-men films were one of the first to disabuse audiences of such assumptions.
Now we're gonna get pedro pascal to play reed, barf.
@@GonzoTehGreat, There are instances where he does demonstrate some degree of authority, in how he handles Johnny's immaturity and Ben bickering with Johnny (he's like the team's dad while Sue is it's mom), or how he asserts himself to Hager.
Both 1 and 2 were some movies I’d watch so much when I was young.
I was generally surprised when it was common belief that they _weren’t good_
Same with spider man 3. I literally cried when that movie finished. The Internet is a strange place.

As someone who grew up watching the Fantastic Four and Spider-man films constantly, they really hold a place in my heart. Just good, superhero films, that can have exciting action scenes back to back with more heartfelt discussions about their powers.
And yes, the Silver Surfer chase is hype af.

I love this movie only because I'm a massive Silver Surfer fan.
I know the plot is horrible, Galactus was ruined for a generation of fans and Dooms entire role makes zero sense but it was great to see Norrin finally get a live action adaptation.
Same here. I was Silver Surfer for Halloween when I was like 8 years old. I had a white skateboard for a surfboard.

I think I'm one of the handful of people that actually liked this version of Galactus. A massive cosmic swarm of destruction makes so much more sense than a giant due in a purple pope hat drinking a planet's milkshake like Daniel-Day Lewis.
@@atraxisdarkstar If done right, Galactus can desgined to look powerful and terrifying, like in some of the Marvel games. Also the "human" look, according to comics anyway, is simply because one race will see Galactus as if he looked similar to theirs. Galactus looks human because that is what humans view him as.
Im not saying that you shouldnt have an opinion or anything, I was just saying that Galactus can look cool if done right.

Would've been cool if Galactus was shrouded in "Cosmic dust", but then we actually see him or a giant hand reaching out when Johnny is helping stabilize Silver surfer at the end. Shrouding him in mystery. Showing only a glimpse. Something like that.

man before the mcu, when I was like 5, i just watched the old marvel movies like the f4, the spiderman trilogy, daredevil, hulk and the x-men over and over again.
my true childhood are those movies and even if a lot of them are bad, they will always have a special place in my heart.

Too bad we never get to see Galactus' true form in Rise of the Silver Surfer and all we have is his space cloud form. Regardless, Galactus in _Marvel Ultimate Alliance_ is the closest to ever get to what he looks like in the next MCU Fantastic Four movie.

- Sewing Deadpool's mouth shut in X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
- Blocking all attempts to greenlight a Deadpool movie (Remember that leaked test footage where Wade says "Hi, Tom!"? That's our guy.)
- Greenlighting Fant4stic.
- Moving the first X-Men movie's release date up 5 months AND slashing its budget in half.
- Slashing the budget of 2005's Elektra and ordering a complete rewrite.
- Rushing X3 into production to compete with Superman Returns.
- Forcing Emily Blunt to be in Gulliver's Travels instead of Iron Man 2 (as Black Widow).
There's more (including the fact that he thought Titanic & Avatar would bomb), but those are the big ones.

Love this movie so much. I think even as a little kid I liked it more than the original. It’s just so fun and genuinely has a good story and is just a so enjoyable. The original Fantastic 4 movies hold up surprisingly well today and are still great
Fun fact: Andre's character in this movie was originally meant to be Nick Fury (The scene where Reed stands up to the military guy is taken from the Ultimate comics and that guy is Fury) and they had plans to bring Black Panther for the third movie. Just imagine how different the MCU would've been if that happened
I really thought they deserved a third go! And if we saw Black Panther, maybe we would have seen a real interpretation of Namor too? But I forget who had Namors rights back then.

The Fantastic Four movies are so underrated, such fun films.
They had a bunch of jokes, but not as many as the current MCU.
I like the MCU, probably my favorite franchise ever, but even I know the jokes are getting out of hand

I loved these FF movies. They're pretty underrated in my opinion and I think the chemistry between the characters is spot on

I really love the casting for these Fantastic Four movies. The Thing’s casting is insanely good. Plus I know people have their issues with each individual portrayal for different reasons, but given the issues in the script, if you overlook the fact that it derives from a flawed script, the actual portrayal and performances are so much fun. These movies were everything to me as a kid lol
To be fair, Galactus has no physical form. Different species just perceive him as a common deity or a large purple man.
These movies have such a nostalgic loving hole in my heart, I don’t care how bad they are they’re always gonna be peak cinema to me! Also your passion for this movie is so infectious, love it a lot man.

One thing that i really enjoy about these films, is we got to see the heroes actually be heroes. Instead of just fighting the villain, they were constantly trying to save civilians. That whole ferris wheel scene was lit, i loved it. Wasn’t some big battle, it was just people in trouble and heroes resolving the situation..

Story time : I used to watch this movie so much when I was little , I’d ask one of my teachers in primary school over and over to the point it was annoying if we could watch a movie I can bring near the end of the day in the library , it was a rare occasion when they’d actually let the class watch a movie in the library end of day but by the luck of god she said yes I could , the movies I was actually choosing between bringing was Ghost Rider and Rise of the silver surfer . Don’t even know if the class understood anything especially since it’s a sequel , but it’s a vivid memory in my mind of me getting the class and my teacher to watch Rise of the Silver Surfer
Honestly i really like how they kinda nerfed the Silver Surfer. In the comics he's like, God level, but making him a little less powerful yet still a great threat is perfect.
I also just like the idea of him having to stay on the board to keep his powers. It works with him being a surfer and all

"That's so stupid. It's fucking awesome!" is the perfect way to describe my opinion of this movie. Yes, the chase scene is sick as hell. Yeah, the fantasticar is so cool. Fuck yeah, Johnny's character arc culminating in a crazy Fantastic Four power fusion fight is the sickest fucking shit in any of these movies! It's so dumb, but I love it so much.

Loved this movie. I was 13 when this gem dropped.
Everything was perfect in this one. Doom taking advantage of a situation. Silver surfer introduction. FF relationships. Galactus cloud? A little annoying, but his helmet shadow thingy was cool.
Honestly, the biggest complaint people had with this movie was how Galactus got reducted to a cloud of DUST... which I could understand. Since, in such a "earthed" story, a GIANT MAN WITH A HELMET would look kinda stupid. So, making him more like a Cosmic Horror works better. In context.

probably the reason I like this movie is just the Silver Surfer himself. and yes, the Silver Surfer and the Human Torch chase was and is still hyping me up
I was already a full grown college graduate who had grown up on Fantastic Four comics and the cartoon on Fox when I saw this movie in the theater with my dad, who was himself a Fantastic Four fan as a child and owned Fantastic Four #1 (unfortunately my grandmother got rid of his comics before I was born). My dad had been dealing with cancer for over a year at this point and was becoming sicker. He somehow mustered enough strength to leave the house and see this movie with me, and it was the last movie he ever saw in theater and the last time he left the house except for the day he went to the hospital and passed away. I felt bad that he didn't live long enough to see any of the movies that are part of the MCU, but now, as a father myself, I look back on this movie and realize how great it was. I saw it was on TV one day and watched it with my son. It's a movie that tends to be on the cheesy side but totally fits the tone of the Fantastic Four, something that kids can watch without getting too much into mature themes.
I don't really look forward to the Fantastic Four's introduction to the MCU because I can't imagine anyone else but Michael Chiklis playing Ben Grimm.
Your video didn't touch on Stan Lee's cameo. In this movie, he introduces himself as Stan Lee, something he doesn't do in any other Marvel movie cameo, while trying to attend Reed and Sue's wedding, but gets turned away. This bit was taken straight out of the comics, where Stan Lee and Jack Kirby get turned away from attending Reed and Sue's wedding.

The fatal flaw of these movies is Doom. Julian Mcmahon is actually pretty good casting, but they're petrified of having him act anything like actual comic book Doom. He acts more like a cross between Norman Osborn and Lex Luthor. Doom is as closely linked to the F4 as Magneto is to the X-Men. He's practically FAMILY. You gotta get him right and neither of these movies do. Hopefully the MCU will finally give us a faithful movie Doom.

16:16, Tying the plot points and characters to theme of choice and responsibility works pretty well, especially the notion that a sense of responsibility can also have negative connotations, as Norran's responsibility to Galactus and to protecting his world and wife have cost countless lives, a sense of responsibility or loyalty without compassion or generosity
I love how simple yet perfect the plot is. Galactus is coming to destroy the earth, and Reed and Sue are getting married. Major conflict. Tells you everything you need to know in the first 5 minutes. Movie is done in 90. Keep it simple.

The funniest part of this movie is attempting to make fun of product placement with Johnny putting so many brands on his suit, then it contradicts it by having a flying Dodge car at the end of the movie.

Older Marvel movies up until the first Avengers movie, are always a really good time. They all had their own personalities, they focused more on characters and having self contained, character interaction based movies, instead of following a formula and focusing on what's going to happen now and how it relates. Just returning to a simpler time when making a story came first. not to mention the use of PRACTICAL effects.
I loved this movie as a kid, I even got a picture of Silver Surfer signed by Doug Jones and it is still on my shelf to this day
