My MP40 so far had so many problems that I can barely count them, I upgraded it(not sure with which anymore, however I do have the same piston, gears and spring guide), but I still have problems with the trigger bar and with feeding. But the most annoying problem that I had when I bought it was that there was plastic residue that was overlaying the barrel, I had to scratch it out on both sides with knife. But other than that, the gun feels amazing and mostly shoots good enough.
I'm planning to custom fit an AK hop unit and MP5 tightbore barrel to mine with a new hop rubber and concave nub, the stock ones are average. I've had excellent results with maple leaf buckings in my other guns, I never use anything else. I really recommend replacing the bearings, piston, piston head and spring guide as the stock ones are crap. Make sure you do an air seal test. This gun is really worth upgrading as much as you can. With some fine tuning it'll run like a sowing machine. I've never had an issue with mine after several intense games.
Maybe I'll upgrade it in future(since it's NCO weapon, and I'm going to be NCO of the team in the future, I probably should), but before that I'll buy STG44 and use MP40 as secondary primary weapon.
I ordered NCO insignia for my tunic last night, I'm also building a second uniform (HBT). I would have bought the AGM MP44 and upgraded it, I upgrade everything as soon as I get it, it's an addiction. Although, I'm forever put off by the lack of mid cap magazines for it. You can make them but it's extremely cost in-effective.
I'm doing SS-Scharführer with M42 tunic(I think, it's 42 I might be mistaken), but I'll eventually do the same with M42 coat(I just don't want to do it yet, since the coat is actually pretty comfortable and I will probably wear it as normal winter coat this winter and for that I need it without insignia). When it comes to STG44 magazines not being mid cap, it's not that much of a problem for me considering that feeding in my MP40 fails sometimes(not really repairable since I fell on the ground with it once and I bend the magwell slightly) and having weapon with only Hi-Cap magazines is better than to have weapon with feeding problems.
Btw. I've recently encountered another problem: the gun sometimes fails on me in that the trigger won't make the electrical connection, it's not caused by the tirgger bar(I've checked that few times already), nor by the somewhat loose motor cage, I've managed to repair the problem by connecting the motor to the battery directly for one or more shots, and after that it functions normally, but after few mags the problem appears again(always, so it's not even like the problem when you have partially winded up motor, which doesn't react to trigger because of it). Do you know what might cause such problem?
Noob here, but what I don’t like about the AMG is that the bolt isn’t spring loaded. I wish it was because cranking it back after loading the mag / moves while firing is more realistic feeling and less toyish feeling. For that very reason I want to buy an Umarex metal BB version that has this function but could I use plastic BBs with that CO2? Because I also want to do battles... that’s what sucks for me with the AMG
That's not entirely realistic. The MP40 is an open bolt submachine gun, so to have a cocking handle that doesn't spring forward when you release it is in fact realistic. I've looked at the Umarex myself as there is a 6mm version, although the magazines are too long to fit into MP40 pouches due to the unconventional design.

Just stumbled across your video, i just purchased one of these from Daves Custom Airsoft Bone yard, and have ordered some replacement parts as it has very poor quality internals as you described, the only part i haven't ordered yet is the tappet plate could you help with identifying which one you got please?
@@TaZ101SAGA cool that’s what I ordered, I got it to work with the pile of junk and gunk that was already init.. All parts being delivered over next couple of days I have ordered new ZCI piston cylinder kit from Empire Airsoft, All new bearings and bushings to replace the awful plastic ones, new spring guide and I have managed to source a nozzle i’ll let you know how it goes..I have also ordered a perun mosfet hopefully be able to do something different with the trigger setup but at least the mosfet should keep contacts lasting longer..
One more thing the hop and barrel have you managed to do anything with that it seems ok, but I feel like there is a small leak under pressure will look further when I start reassembly.
hi, can you tell me which parts you used? i want to do the upgrades but i have no clue if i need v2 or v3 parts. and i never did anything with the cylinder/piston and gears. so i dont know which fit together. and what nozzle would fit? thanks in advance

Search asian stores for parts or ask on a Facebook forum. Changing the bearings and spring guide is easy. Just follow my take down video for this gun to the T and you wont have anything to worry about.

Tappet Plate = Can't guarantee. Some are thicker due to reinforcement techniques, these may not fit properly in a closed MP40 gearbox shell. Spring Guide = Yes it's V3 so it should work fine. Bushings = Yep, don't see why not as they are 6mm. Due to the difference in height, you will have to re-shim the gearbox. You should do this when you get any new AEG anyway. Cylinder Head = It probably would, but get one that's intended for a V3 to be sure. The length may differ slightly which could result in poor air seal. Get one with a silicone rubber piece attached to the back. This acts as a shock absorber for the piston and will reduce stress on the gearbox shell. Piston = Looks like a good one. Full metal teeth, already AOE corrected and swiss cheesed. You will also need a new piston head. I recommend an aluminium piston head. Do not buy a stupid high power spring, it is unnecessary. You want a good hop up bucking/nub, I recommend a 60 degree bucking, and a 6.03 barrel. These will provide better range than simply upping the spring.
Yes, not liking the aftermarket spring guide I placed in it however. The tip has unscrewed itself and is floating around inside the gearbox. Will have to glue it on. Other than that no issues.

Complete Inner barrel assembly, piston and tappet plate. All are trash.

2 or 3 should work but it depends on the brand. Some fit tighter than others.
