  • In this video I will show you each step in the process to grow lions mane mushrooms in bulk. This mushroom is amazing as a meat replacement and for healthy living.
    Lion’s Mane is believed to be able to prevent the neuronal damage from amyloid-beta plaques, which accumulate in the brain during Alzheimer’s disease and reduces the symptoms of memory loss. We believe that now more than ever we need to be conscious of our health and boost the immune system that is responsible to protect us from viruses, bacteria and other disease-causing pathogens. I hope this video is helpful in teaching you how to grow your own!

    Hey man, great vid, really informative! I had a few questions if you wouldnt mind 🙂. In the final stage when you have mixed all the spawn with the substrate you say to let it colonize for a further two weeks then you say to watch for pinning etc. I wanted to know during those 2 weeks if they are supposed to be in any indirect daylight (Or synthetic daylight) and if so is there a set number of hours to mimic its natural cycle or anything? I assume warm/room temp is needed again temp wise as well. Thanks!

    Thanks for showing us the steps man, that helps to figure it out much easier. I did though always recognize lion's mane as a mostly cool weather fungus, any reason specifically you use warm water and a warm climate for it?

    • @SporenSprout
      @SporenSprout  ปีที่แล้ว +6

      You should try to keep the tent around 70-75 degrees F, which isn’t that warm. You get denser mushrooms when it’s colder and more fluffy when hot. Humidity and fresh air play a more significant role in my opinion.

    great vid - well done. clearly youve got this tek totally dialled in , your results speak for themselves but whats the reason you sterilize for 2.5 hrs when nearly every other cultivator and author that ive read recommend 1.5hrs... I ask because while I can usually grow other types of fungi successfully , my last two attempts with LM have both trich'd out on me (bucket tek and bag method). im being as aseptic as I can and using a laminar flow hood so your vid has me wondering if the longer pressure time might be the answer.

    Excellent video brother. Going to save this one for sure. I've been having a problem with my pressure cooker melting holes in my spawn bags! Also, the substrate bags seem to take like 6 weeks plus to colonize! Maybe I did not use enough spawn??

    • @SporenSprout
      @SporenSprout  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching! If your bags start melting holes it is most likely from the pressure cooker being too hot and not having enough water in the bottom. You can also try lining the sides with aluminum foil, that seemed to help in the presto 23 quart I used to have. It is not good for substrate to take that long, you should definitely add more spawn (I use a 3LB spawn bag for 4 5 LB substrate blocks) and make sure you shake the crap out of it to evenly distribute every grain, it is very important that the grains reach the bottom of the bag to ensure quicker colonization. Also, lions mane mycelium is much thinner than other species so it is often fully colonized before looking so. Good luck!

      Thanks for watching! I love the electric sterilizer because you can hook it up to a timer and once it hits 15 psi you can set it and forget it. It also holds a large amount of any material. It may require recalibration which I have had to do a couple of times and will probably post a video on how to calibrate it in the future but here is a video I made running it.

    Oh my gosh! I just heard about mushroom grow bags today for the very first time. I don’t have the financial resources nor the confidence to do what you showed, but you did an AMAZING job demonstrating!!!
    When those mushrooms grow, can you dehydrate them and then powder them? If so do you know what temperature and how many hours? I have the opportunity to buy some mushrooms that have grown so I want to see if I can dehydrate them and then powder them.

    • @SporenSprout
      @SporenSprout  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      A pressure cooker should have 2-3 inches of water at the bottom. Use some kind of rack insert to elevate the material above the water. The foil on the sides I found helped prevent bags from burning by touching the sides when packed full. So I kind of just kept it as a liner. I have an all American electric sterilizer now that I do not have any problems with the bags touching the sides 🤷🏻‍♂️

      The grain adds nutrition, and provides many inoculation points as a carrier for the mycelium. The mycelium can have a hard time colonizing fast without grain. It is possible to do but will result in smaller fruit bodies and yield.

      Humidity controller set at 85% humidity and exhaust fan set to run for 5 minutes every hour and an in-line fan to bring fresh air in every hour as well. 70 F temp is good. Do you have a quick dry version, or do you let yours sit for a day before you poke it? 2) I when i'm sterilizing my spawn, i seem to get a lot of condensation and moisture inside the bag.
