It really resonated with me when you mentioned how us in the African American community who don’t feel like we’re up to par when it comes to learning this type of stuff. I’m an actor and now a certified technician and because I’m not doing theatre at my college I feel incomplete and now I’m interested in learning about coding. I have friends who say it’s really reliable and I figured since all I’m doing is working why not spend some time being mentally productive so this video helped! Looking forward to more videos!
That's great to hear! Let me know how you like it as you dive deeper into your learning! I also think there are ways you may find to combine your artistic love with your coding skills!
Literally got my first taste of coding today I’m taking a computer science course as a general Education class from my university I saw it as nothing but a general education class I needed to get out of the way But my professor gave us an assignment to code our own resume and it made me so happy to know that something I typed up could suddenly take form and be real I’m going to school for theater but was looking for something to minor in because let’s be honest everyone and their mother wants to become an actress but I’m really starting to look into how to code and possibly even do it as a career
Omg I love your story! Ain’t nothing wrong with having two passions and pursuing them both! Code could be an steady career that you do in between acting gigs! Possibilities are endless!
I just discovered your channel and I think you’re wonderful! Could you tell us more about freelance coding and whether that’s manageable alongside a day job, or is it maybe too time consuming??
Hi Georgie! I definitely will talk more about freelancing soon. I’m working on a series about it! But I think the best part about freelance is that you get full control on what you take on. So if you do have a day job you can take on a project or two at a time to start
Love this! Love all of your videos! I just found your channel, and have been binging them while I work from home. Would you ever consider doing a video that’s more in-depth on how you use Notion/maybe just how you go about planning/staying organized in general? I watched your video on how to make a plan for learning to code and it was so helpful, but as an adult with ADHD I find it nearly impossible to stay organized and on top of things with my home life, a full time job, and trying to teach myself to code. 😫
Thank you Nicole. I have subscribed. I am a woman of color, 58, widowed, Nana to 6. I can learn. I excel at reading and comprehension. Any suggestion on where to begin. I have watched this video and will watch it as many times as needed.
Hi Felicia! I love that you want to learn and are confident in your ability! Thats the first place to start! I would suggest using Codecademy or one of the others mentioned to learn HTML + CSS skills first! Then the natural next level is JavaScript for most people
I do love your content and your videos are very informational. I have a problem with attention and it's very hard to follow along with the music and background noises in your videos and I don't want to miss anything you are offering. Please think about not putting music and background noises in your future videos?
Hey I have a question, I've been debating on getting into coding and doing it as a career, as a newbie and someone that knows nothing about it, how long does it take, and how difficult is it if at all? Any in sight would be helpful thanks!
This question mostly depends on the amount of time and daily commitment you are able to put toward learning. For me it was about a year of learning on my own
@@nicoleyoungtech I enjoyed watching this video as I am doing a transition to tech. I would love to get your free resource link as well because it is unfortunately not working. Thank you in advance 😁
Hi Nicole My question: Can someone really study coding on their own for free from the sites you mentioned and get a job ? How long would it take a beginner to learn to be front end developer ? And most of all which site should a beginner choose to start learning? Codeacademy? Edx? ..... Which one?????
Hi Cynthia! Let me answer those questions for you! 1. Yes it is totally possible but it would take a lot of hustle on the interview side - I would suggest looking into a tech career coach for help on this 2. this is 100% dependent on how much time you devote every day and your own learning style but it can learn in a few months to a couple years 3. any of the site mentioned are good to start I would suggest using a few of them at the same time to diversify you learning material. Choose the ones that explain in a way you understand most!
@@nicoleyoungtech Yes i was on nology which is a hole different website to codeacademy!! But I find it boring but i really want to make a game what should i do?I also feel like I will forget idk what to do! Great vid btw!
Sorry, this video wasn't about rioting. There is definitely a lot going on in the world right now and I don't intend to take away from any of that. It's just not what the video is about

By the way cocademy/nology isn't free!

The background music was a little too loud. Other than that, thank you for the informative video!
Yes I realized that later on, hopefully the next ones were ok
codeexampler is a best free website to learn code with a lot of examples like:- Java,Python,C#,Php,C,C++,Javascript,Etc
Thanks for adding this! I'm glad there are so many options to go with to learn for free!
any good c programming tutors here??
Why do you show the pictures but not mention the rioting?
Sorry, this video wasn't about rioting. There is definitely a lot going on in the world right now and I don't intend to take away from any of that. It's just not what the video is about
All o hear is that black people and we on are told that they shouldn’t code but I’ve never seen that? 🤔 🤔
Maybe not overtly but I do think for a long time that notion was there.
Wish I would have found you earlier
Glad you are here now!!
