As a recent RS2 owner from a ST3, it’s an upgrade to me. Happy people still enjoying the platform. Just wish we got those Recaro shells over the USDM seats😒.
Had my 2018 red (unmolested)for nearly a year. Love it to bits. Never driven a mk 2 so can't really compare the 2 . From what I gather they're comply different animals. Perhaps one day I'll try one. The RS Mk 3 was a car I've wanted since its release but couldn't afford at the time. The mk 2 didn't have that kind of pull for me. You can read a lot of what others say about things but knowing what you really want is the most important thing of all. Better or worse,,,,??? Whatever you choose I wish you luck just make sure it makes you smile.
If you're going to have one now is the time plenty out there some have already been modified so as long as done by reputable companies your good to go. Not my thing but Ford when they still made cars to be driven
How do you think we feel across the pond here in the States? We can't get but a few dowdy hatchbacks. 2018 was the last year for the Focus here. I had a 2012 Focus hatchback with the "base" 160 hp 2.0L and it was a great car. I think now the only fast hatchback we can get is the Volkswagen GTI. 🤨
My buddy had got one of these the last year they made them but sold it after about three months because of all the engine issues people were having. One of the coolest cars ford ever made but they should have fixed all the problems with them.
I have a stock 2017 fiesta st and have had a sticky clutch since I bought it brand new. I could never get it to do it under warranty and as soon as the warranty ended it got worse. So I took it to a mechanic my neighbor told me was the best and they charged me 5k to change everything out they told me. I get it back and two days later my sticky clutch comes back. The mechanic is telling me they changed everything except the master cylinder and now want 880 to do that I told them no I brought it to a real mechanic because I didn’t want to be throwing money at the issue doing the work myself and they told me they fixed it. They aren’t willing to install the master without me paying more but I already feel I have way over paid for what they have done.
I'm just happy we got to experience one RS here in the United States. Its sad because manuals and hatchbacks are dying here. I can only hope whats happening here isn't a sign for your future because it's starting to get bleak here.
The mk3 was a great car, great chassis and an absolute hoot to drive. I do miss my one…… But, the engines were made of chocolate and would throw a rod even on stock tune due to LSPI.
Mines done 89k miles it's mapped and modified and been fine even when hammering it, I agree though lspi kills these but it's driver error 90% of the time with lspi
@@MarkFritscher I know of loads that have failed. Mine also failed not long after I sold it but that was the new owner bouncing off the limiter when not fully up to temp 🫣 Swap the block for the ST closed deck with RS internals and your on to a winner
Sadly I fell out of love with mine as had to go back to Ford 3 times to correct the head gasket issue and still weeped oil so got rid as soon as the warranty expired after 3 years due to reliability concerns. Was a fun car though if a bit of an underpowered heavy lump in stock form. Own a GR Yaris now which is every bit as quick upto motorway speeds backed with a 10 year warranty that includes track driving such is the Toyota confidence. It’s a real shame Ford has lost their way and effectively killed off the RS and ST brand now.
The cabin sound is a fake noise! All this car need is a set of adaptive dampers, but £1k per corner is an expensive upgrade. Arguably it shall be a standard feature of the car, which makes rhe car even more desirable with a small increase of percentage at its original price tag. (Still a sub £40k car at 2018 edition price)
The DSC controller can make the stock suspension adaptive and is good for ~0.4 seconds alone on a otherwise stock RS. It is less much expensive than a full aftermarket adaptive solution and much easier to install and remove.
Looks good from the outside and sounds good but it’s cheap and tacky on the inside and the engine is mince meat. Typical Ford garbage at the end of the day.
Ford usually makes great cars and hot hatches. But i kinda agree this is not one of them. Feels too heavy and the engine and rear diff is made out of chocolate. So its not typical Ford as they usually are great, but untypically garbage. 😄
Iconic! Classic! Linear...Quick! Engaging. Ford at its best. So sad no more Focus... ❤. Buy one if you get the chance.

Beautiful car and another amazing review from Max👍
Thank you Dean!
Still miss mine. Mountune made a nice difference. Is have another in a heartbeat.
My daily, I live in a mountain region of the states, it’s a blast, and makes driving to/from work much more fun. 🤘🏼
That’s great! Best place to drive this car
Love my 2016 Focus RS, now a track rat. E-30 Tune, coilovers, proper wheels/tires and this thing can hang with cars costing 2-3 times as much.
Oh nice! That would be awesome
Nice mate. Thinking of getting one in like 2 years. What do you think of them? Obviously nice and fast cars but are they affordable?
Awesome video mate! What roads were you on? I want to take my GR Yaris on a blast.... hard to find decent roads down south/london area.
Thanks mate! We are a tour operator and do road trips all over the Uk. You should join us to find the best roads!

I've got 2. I love them 👍
I still have one and will make another video about it it two weeks.
I'll trade my Dart for one of em...
You want a quicker launch, you do no lift shift for gear 1 and 2 at launch control
Deft use of cluth gets a better time. Engine always bogs on LC due to epic tyre grip.
This was the pinnacle for Ford RS. Well done.
You have to make a follow up video to this when they release the new RS next year hopefully that would be amazing
Are they making a new one?
@ that’s the word on the street there’s a few other TH-cam vids talking about it.
Nice!

I was hoping so much for a MK4 RS, but sadly they didn't make one. Ended up with a MK4.5 STX now.
Why didn't you use launch control?
It can be bad on the car so I imagine the owner didn’t want him to go crazy

what about GR Corolla .... we are not getting this in Europe :(
Focus RS is brilliant!!! Love it!!
It really is!
For launch control you really have to just redline it and drop the clutch. I’ve got my tuned to 400bhp and it’s 3.8 to 60.
Epic, epic machines!! Not biased at all!! 🤣👊
Sleek looking hatchback ! Everything you need to get you up and going. Was the tune done from Ford ? Or third party ?
Third party as far as I’m aware
It’s a Revo stage 1
It it better than a GTR to own?

Yes AWD
@@DrivenPlus cool because this one is my favorite dream car
Nice!
Great review big man. Keep up the videos💪
Much appreciated 😎 more on its way 🙌
I had the mk2 ST MR290 and wouldnt mind a mk3 RS now a bit more affordable in Nitrous Blue, of course❤
You didn't launch it correctly both times. It should hold the revs at 5k RPM before launching
Currently have an st150 this is deffo gunna be my next car 🤞
Nice!
Imagine a fiesta rs
Imagine....❤

Its so sad that Ford discontinue Focus in 2025
It really is
Sadly the stopped making the RS in 2018 as well as the basic Focus 😢
It’s a sad story
My new car from 2016 and the best buy in a Year 2023 🤩🤩🤩💙💙💙💙💙

Low speed pedal …? I have 130k miles on mine and probably 30 track days and she still runs like a champ. Such a great car.

No , the last proper Ford RS was the mark 2 , the new thing taking the Ford by storm are Transits MSRT
My heart is beating fast...
thats not a "massive" spoiler.....Escort Cosworth has a massive spoiler......

Maybe they’ll bring it back since they’re backtracking and all their electric nonsense..lol
Hope so…
The mk2 was far better looking and that five cylinder engine makes it the more desirable car for me
Yeah mk2 looks like an RS sounds like an RS this is an embarrassment to be called RS . Just looks like a family saloon
Plus the benefit of not blowing up whenever it feels like it. These mk3s are rife with random engine failures.
Its a shame all the cars i ever wanted have been surpassed from Tesla
Launch control is actually in the settings your not using the real launch control but also keep in mind it’s not really good to do on the car 😅
Pure Chav Wagon .. 3:06
Smells like broke ass in this comment…..
Mk3 RS ok....MK2 RS looks better, sounds better.....ive had both so just my opinion 👍
Yeah I agree
