  • What are "macros", and how do they work? Macros are an incredibly powerful workflow booster in Studio One allowing you to perform custom actions quickly and efficiently. Once they are set up, you can use them in all of your studio productions going forward, which will accelerate your editing speed drastically over time.
In this tutorial, PreSonus product specialist Gregor Beyerle breaks down exactly how to set up powerful macros to dramatically improve your creative workflow in Studio One.

    Dear Gregor,
the macros in Studio One are very powerful. BUT please what is the basic function in every DAW? It should be to record something. So it is obvious to record every related command steps in a separate macro recording page to make even complex macros easily for everybody. Hit a special recording Control button make all steps and commands as desired and got a new perfect macro! Yes this is a future request for Studio One. IMHO a very powerful one. If you have hundreds of macros you need to organize these much better than before. We need a folder system for all the macros! The simple Group organization for macros is a joke! Sorry Gregor. Choose several macros - right click - move to Folder XY. And so on. It is important for the action menu in the macro toolbar to organize all macros sorted in an uncluttered manner. Thank you very much.

Real life is the best satire. Making a video about reducing keystrokes but after years of complaint it is nor able to add a shortcut to a macro when creating it. Wonderful.

Hello, is it possible to create a macro to lower the input gain with a button?
Example. I press the "-" button and lower the input gain by 1db.
Ps. It would also work well on the fader.

Why are you guys at S1 so bent on destroying your company ? Please stop with the gimmicks and get back to making a great Daw that includes all upgrades for your pro users .

This is a very useful feature. Having the ability to create macros on macros would make it perfect instead of only be able to use commands

Hi Gregor..big fan etc..Is there any way of creating a short cut or macro for the action of selecting multiple tracks? The left mouse click appears to the stumbling block.I want to do this so I can use a soft key in my SSL UF8 to enable this function on the hardware.
    cheers

Hi, thank you for the kind words! You could create a Macro that selects multiple Tracks by utilizing the "Next Track extend" command. Hope this helps. -GBY

Thanks Gregor, good stuff as always. It would be great to see you guys expose LLM tools like CoPilor to your macro architecture and syntax. I use it now to help rough out more complex macros, and it does help, but it could be so much more useful if you guys fortified the learning process.

This could be so much quicker and easier if presonus implemented a macro recorder. Simply hit record perform your functions then stop recording. Name your macro and done. So much simpler and no need for searching for function names

Thank you Gregor 🙏🏻. Your macro and keyboard shortcut videos are SO inspiring.
I use a specific virtual instrument a lot in my projects. Without macro it’s F5, scroll to the instrument, click and drag, click again to open it (as you very well know of course). Now with one press of a key an instrument layer is added, the instrument is added to the layer and opened so I can select what I want to work with within the instrument. So much faster. I ❤ Studio One.
