      I use the GS-WDS07 Wireless Door Magnetic Strip 433MHz from Banggood. It sends different RF codes for open and close conditions. It doesn’t send regular status codes. Using tasmota rules I publish Open or Closed changes via MQTT to node-red. So following an Open notification I have to assume it remains Open until a Closed notification is received. I have had a look at the tasmota rules documentation and can’t see how you could poll the switch given it can only send and not receive RF signals. Others may have more knowledge of the rules.

    There are lots of things u can do with it after it has tasmota put on it. This is especially the case if you bought lots of RF plugs/bells/pir sensors(non-sonoff) etc. in the past.The advantage of RF is also low power usage as wifi is not needed.You can also get 10 button rf controllers from aliexpress. I use the remote to switch off/on my light if I get up after midnight ( sometimes I am up late and want the light on). I use one remote to control my sky box in the sitting room to adjust the channel etc that is sent around the house via anolgue aerial signals also. You can use it for panic buttons etc.

    Can you do a video comparing sonoff rf, sonoff zigbee. Snzb 01,02,03 devices and sonoff rf pir2, pir3. Wifi door window sensor.
    Battery life.
    Signal range.
    Bridge device count.
    Encryption.
    Future compatibility with Home Assistant.
    Extended battery hacks

    • @notenoughtech
      @notenoughtech  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To compare battery life you need a test environment. With battery life on these lasting in excess of 6 months it makes a bit more effort than its worth it.
      If you are interested in range then ZigBee isn't the protocol for you ... For the range you probably want LoRa... As if you bind all sensors only to coordinator you are not building up your mesh network and use the protocol against its strength.
      Count depends on the mesh... Again hard to compare as adding routers simply increases the capability of the ZigBee mesh. limit applies mostly to direct children.
      I don't use HA so not sure how I can be any authority on that topic I'm afraid. If you want to go beyond 6months battery on ZigBee sensors use AAA OR AA batteries as they can replace CR2032 (you'll need enclosure customised for it)

    After flashing mine with Tasmota, I pick up 433 Mhz signals from all of my neighbours. And what's worse, I can send those signals too without knowing what they control. What you describe would be interesting but I won't be doing that. I value my Ameteur radio license too much. I would like one button strategically placed on a wall to send an RF signal that results in turning on or off all 8 lights at once. My understanding is that a regular RF transmitter button cannot be paired with 8 devices. Can I use the Sonoff RF bridge to do this? Or will it only send out one signal at a time?
