I have watched a lot of zipper pouch tutorials. This is by far the best one I have seen. You do a great job of describing every step. Especially how to insert the zipper without getting the edges all wonky.
Your videos are wonderful Sara. I’m a 70 year old bag lady and I’ve been making bags for many years, but I still learn so much from you. Thank you so much. Keep up the good work and keep shining your bright light into the world. We love you,
I'm a new bag lady. I keep selvedges and even small scraps - waste nothing! I'm a dog and cat lover and owner and my little darlings love to visit me in my sewing room. I find it helpful to store fabric in clear lidded containers to avoid pet hair. Love your teaching style Sara.
Not a bag lady yet but you have inspired me to try.....so I’m an ALMOST bag lady. At the moment I have one cat and one dog and a cockatiel! Greeting from England.
I am a bag lady! Ive made dozens of bags for myself, friends, and to sell, on occasion. I also save my selvedges! I want to make a cute bag from this pattern but I'm currently making large pieces of fabric using selvedges to reupholster my old sewing chair. Really glad to find your tutorial for hints using selvedges.
I am definitely a bag lady - just wish my bags looked as beautiful as yours. So enjoy your tutorials as they are very informative, always interesting and fun. Thanks to you, and Danny, for taking such time and care with them. Xo
I do save each selvages & I made several pin cushions with them; plus now you can buy selvage packages of a fabric line. Love to make other projects with them also.
Sara, your videos are by far the best on the web when concerning sewing bags, i have bought a lot of them already on your website and once in awhile i go and rewatch them. Thank you for being such a great inspiration.
I have 2 cats, Pepita (13 years old) and Carry (3). And I love bag making !!!! I have made around 40 pencil cases/zipper pouches/make up bags since I learned how, and I am not going to stop. I don't have any selvages, because I buy 1 or 2 metres of fabric, or just enough for the project I'm working on, but I am definitely going to try this pouch , it looks so original.
Yes, I'm a bag lady - making clutches, clutch/wallets, purses, overnight bags. And, I do save selvages and use them to make placemats for Meals on Wheels (and I use batting scraps that are pieced for these donations).
The Osolo bag is the next one on my make list, can't wait to get it started. I'm a bag lady who does keep salvages, but haven't used them yet. I have 2 dogs and 8 chickens. :)
Yes, I use them to tie bind assorted things & I use them on finer fabrics seams to stabilize it like growgrain ribbon is used . Have you ever used the selvages along the zipper edge where the fabric usually frays? Yes I am a big bag lady:)
I'm a bag Lady!I love the fat quarter bundle their gorgeous prints. I have a cat and I do save my scraps. I love your channel I'm learning so much I just wanted to say thank you!
Hi! Great videos! I have 2 dogs. One I have had since she was 4 days old. I also have nursed/domesticated kittens from feral cats around my home and found homes for them so they become good pets.
I just came across your TH-cam Channel and I'm totally a bag lady. I've always been a cat lady but we just rescued a dog from the shelter so now we are both!
Sara could Danny post his video about the sewing machine light separately as a stand along short video? Love all of your videos, the ones I've purchased and especially the free ones. You are awesome!
Only save salvages to help turn fabric tubes or difficult things to turn inside out. It works wonders. Otherwise, I don't use them for projects - there are too many wonderful fabrics to use!
I’m with your son on that because I don’t like Mexican food either! I am a bag lady! My coworkers started calling me a bag lady because I went through a phase when t was making all kinds of tote bags and I took them to work!
I have cats. I'm a cat lady AND a BAG lady!! Your bags look great I can't wait to make one. I've made many bags, but not many with zippers........but I'm ready. thanks I have a bag that has some selvages, but I'll start saving them all.
Hi! Just found your channel. Thank you for the tutorial. I really enjoyed it and I am looking forward to practice in my next bag the zipper cutting technique. :-)
I have saved my salvages for a while but haven't used them. (Same with my scraps!) I want to use them know. Chicken I guess. I recognize the photo from our retreat! I thought Tamara was great!
When adding the tabs does it reduce the size of the zip? For example if I want a 6" zip will I end up with a 5" zip? Or should I cut a 7" zip to end up with a 6" zip? Sorry if this all sounds a bit confusing, I am new to crafting/sewing and so I am just learning all these new techniques. Love your videos> Thank you :)
I'm with William, I don't like Mexican food either. Do you suggest that we print this pattern using a different percentage or is there a better way to make this bag in a different size? I love the way you explain everything. Thank you for these videos Sara.
Hi Sara, I really loved this video and want to make this bag for my niece (and for myself!). I was wondering why you used a 1/4 inch seam allowance for the exterior of the bag and 3/8 inch for the interior? I have made several small pouches and no one has ever mentioned this before, so I am curious. Thanks!
