  • Christmas Village Display Shelf. This DIY stand is used to display Christmas villages. I built this village Christmas tree stand out of plywood and 1x material. This Christmas village display shelf will require 2 sheets of 4x8 plywood, bolts, screws and 1x material. Building a tree for Christmas village is a very approachable project with just a few tools. Give this village display tree project a try! Check the links below for supplies and tools used in this build.

      So let me ask you could you make this in a way that it would have hinges and be able to fold down for easier transportation?

    Besides all the other suggestions I would add a small cutout at the rear of each shelf to drop down all the cords or a hole in the rear panels as well as at the bottom corner of the triangles.

    I know I'm late to this video by a long shot but great vid and idea. I'm going to build one for wife. I will probably use hinges so I can fold it up for easy storage. Thanks and God Bless

    Hola! This is a really cool and original project. We put our village beneath our tree, I'll have to share this one with Grammy and see if she would like to integrate this to our Christmas décor. Thanks for the video, really nice. Take care and have a good one, Adios! 👊

    DIYers are awesome because we bounce ideas off each other to make a better build each time. I'm sure someone mentioned this before but could you redo this video with a dado cut for the shelves instead of having cleats.
    I think it would look nicer and you wouldn't see the cleats under the higher shelves because there wouldn't be any. And you can dado with a router instead of a table saw if you didn't want to buy the blades.
    The other thing I would have done for my build would be to add a piano hinge on the back and furniture nuts that screw into the holes drilled out on the back side in the dado blade groove so that the whole build will have hidden hardware and fasteners.

    Great work! I enjoy the videos! Any tips on building stuff that you can take apart for shipping? For example a bookshelf that's around 41 inches tall and 32 inches wide.

    • @731Woodworks
      @731Woodworks  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm sorry, I don't. I don't ship any large items. I would look at how Wal-Mart, Target, WayFair, etc package their larger furniture items and how they are assembled and see if I could replicate that in some way. Good instructions would be a must for assembly. There may be some type of connectors you could buy to help with assembly. Sorry, I'm not much help in that area.

    • @khalanderson5440
      @khalanderson5440 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I completely understand, I'm in the same boat. I dont prefer to make furniture that comes apart, but I recently had some interest from a fellow who lives half way across the country and shipping is pretty hefty if I send it assembled. Thanks for the ideas though, its greatly appreciated!

      @@731Woodworks If you were going to use hinges, what would you use? Piano ones on the inside, or is there ones that would work from the back that would allow it to fold inwards but remain flat with the shelf supports touching each other.
