Slayer is Going to be a PROBLEM in Guilty Gear Strive - First Impressions

Slayer just dropped as the latest GGST character and he seems QUITE strong! This is just a quick rundown on initial impressions and we'll see how he's doing in a month or so!

Arc Sys: We need to be careful with Potemkin and grapplers in general, because it's not fun to have a slow character with a lot of health deal big damage on 50/50s.

Don't forget that there is so much tech out for Slayer already even after just a couple days!
He's got
1. Pilebunker loops,
2. jump cancel Kara special moves (like Johnny),and
3. His oki is phenomenal.

And he has the OTG close slash crossup based on timing, just as a lil gimmick that I feel like even good players are gonna get hit by.

I'm curious if Slayer will go up or down long term. He has tech to be discovered still but he also might end up being "simple" enough that more counter tech develops. Time will tell!

Slayer looks great, is fun to pilot, and fits in with the cast/plays strive well.
He also is awful to fight, abuses positive bonus incredibly well, massive oopsie potential, and has some of the most belligerent tools in the cast.
I don't mind his inclusion but I'm hugely tired of the current direction of strive, as far as turbo-linear, hard RPS-heavy style characters and looping resource trumps off of the first stray hit.

My biggest complaint is just how "accidentally" good so many of his moves are. I've been anti-aired by Bunker, c.S, f.S, 2P, and the list goes on.

as a chipp player i think its impossible for slayer to not be a good character and i am only a little bit biased by my choice of character.
pilebunker loops are so sick and also so scary, and i think any character with those kinda conversions has a lot of staying power from style alone.

Pretty sure the zoners will maybe keep at bay for a bit but def a top 10 character worthy. Only question I have is his super faster then RC or am I I timing it wrong before it hits ?

Well it's been 4 months so you probably know this. Nonetheless, for future viewers: Slayer ended up being really good against Asuka at least, since Mappa can eat as many cubes as he wants. And his super is slower than RC, but hits fullscreen the first frame after the super freeze, so it's too late if you see it.
