@@lucienfournier5399 Not all of them. Tom has a talent >>>> The average concert pianist. In fact he is also a concert pianist. He has played concerts, many of them.
@@lucienfournier5399 They are talented, but many just play "repetoire". Improvisation on the level of Tom is more a rag thing and I think he's pretty unique even among those players
In my opinion, James Scott's composing style had the classic ragtime-style syncopation of Scott Joplin mixed with the elegance of Joseph Lamb's writing styles. This, of course, gave him his own, unique, writing style!
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. James Scott’s music is instantly recognizable with the incessant usage of the call-and-response motif. Tom Brier makes the response part sparkle as it should. Brilliant.
play at 1.25 speed!--i'd have laughed out loud if he'd gone up an interval of a fifth, increased the tempo, and gone from a mezzoforte to a mezzopiano!! this ones' clean cut, and exactly what the composer intended it to sound like. a real masterpiece here
One of my favorite rags. I'm in the process of learning it and I was wanting to know if anybody has transcribed Tom's performance into a midi file. If I knew how, I would do it
@ThaRemco Thanks. I attempt to play at HOME poorly. I have residual whiplash nerve problems that affect my right hand fingers, so have difficulty, and being old, i get a tune to where it isn't TOO bad, but can't remember it :-). These posts are of OTHERS greatness....I may some day if I ever get through a tune half way decent with camera on, post. Don't hold breath though......Thank you for commenting.... VBR
You rock, Tommy-Mah-Man!!!!! I see you finally shaved the hair on your throat. I have to shave mine on a regular basis - otherwise, I can start using it as a blanket.
I hope Tom is in a good space despite all the Shite he has been through. Such a talented person who I hope one day will play like this once again.
This pianist is very good. Much better than those classical concert pianists. This guy can play anything and compose brilliant stuff on the spot.
Concert pianists can also compose brillant stuff on the spot

Tom Brier will be always the best!!!
Definitely one of the best pianists I have ever seen, if not the best.
Ever heard of Dr. John? :)
Dr. John lives on another planet that doesn't know ragtime.
I’d say the best
I'm not sure if he's the best, but definitely my favorite!

And that tempo is about as slow as Tom gets ... and it still has that joyous lift. His music just plain makes me feel good!
Thanks.........Tom is Magical with his playing........And Composing too....VBR
Exactly! I return to these videos of Tom’s brilliance again and again….
I just listened to that about 15 times...
Samma här! Det är verkligen ett "Quality Rag"!
Det er jo det da
I’d say this rag is of high quality and passes inspection!
You can easily tell that James Scott tried especially hard with this piece to make this piece make people tingle its so obvious
Never can get enough of the Incomparable Tom Brier!llllllll And, he's a nice guy, to boot. Keep posting him.

Another fine performance by the illustrious Tom. Thanks for recording and sharing this VBR.
This is not real. No human can play this well. Great job. Thanks so much for this beautiful music. You are a gift to the world.
That is what I said when I first heard Tom live in 2001!
It's almost impossible to play this clean with perfect phrasing and tempo, but he nails it every time!
@@andrewbarrett1537He is something else. Just brilliant! Can't get enough! 🎉🎉

I have a feeling James Scott tried espeicially hard with this piece to make people tingle but it worked.

Rag is very fast which is why Tom is amazing I'm sure he could play classical if he wanted all he has to do is read the score xx
Did he memorize stuff he played?
@verybigrifle I guess I do :-D.
what brand is that piano???
Don't know, and the coffee shop is no longer there where it was.....VBR
Aw thats a shame... well do you know what brand it might have been?
