I just bought a KitchenAid Heavy duty 325 watt 5 quart stand mixer with bowl lift. It's used, I bought it in a local thrift store just today. It runs really nice. Haven't made anything with it yet. Thank you for showing how the attachments go on and how to get the bowl on. I always wanted a KitchenAid stand mixer and I'm pleased to start out with this one. It is in such good condition that I'm guessing it wasn't used much. Judging from the little KitchenAid cookbook that came with it that it's probably about 15 or 20 years old. I love homemade bread but have trouble kneading because of my back and I'm not too thrilled with making bread dough in my bread machine. I'm devouring tutorials (thank goodness for TH-cam) and I'm looking forward to trying this out tomorrow. Best wishes from Ohio.
I've had mine for 18 years and love the fact that attachments still fit it, I have most of them. Also if it ever needs fixing, I can still get parts for it. It is still going strong and I use it a couple of times a week - a real boon in lockdown when I went baking crazy.
I had mine for 20 years and it's as good as the the day I got it. This brand is for a lifetime because I don't see any sign it's gonna break any time soon. So glad that I had invested in this brand back then. I don't know about the new verion but mine is 5K5SS is a wow mixture.🥰
I have the bowl lift model I inherited from my father-in-law 20 years ago. Believe her when she says "always start out on low!" I got my first job at a pizza joint at age 12. They used a machine called a Hobart to make their dough. Now, a Hobart is basically a Kitchenaid with a thyroid condition. It looks exactly like a Kitchenaid, but it's about 4 feet tall. The owner told me to load it with a sack of flour, some yeast and water, and mix it on number 3. As you can imagine, it didn't end well! I had to clean the entire kitchen, which took 3 days! So yes, always start on 1 and work your way up!
I have had my Kitchen Aid Mixer for 20 years, was the best mixer I have ever bought, more than worth the money even on sale, creaming butter & sugar it is the best, use to hand cream everything tough on the hand, could not be happier I have a Kitchen Aid.
Love my KA Artisan named Poppy. I bought her as a refurbished model for a steal. Since I live in Ecuador a friend brought her down for me. In 10 months she has paid for herself. I make two loaves of bread 3 or 4 times a week and she handles 6 cups of flour very well. I had a KA for 30 years, which I gave away before I moved from the U.S. to South America. I missed it so much. I am so happy to have one here where we cook from scratch. Poppy and my Cuisinart food processor are my best kitchen tools. Thanks for the informative review.
Finally a video that shows how to attach the metal bowl on the lift mixer. Mine seemed like it took too much pressure to snap it into place so I thought I was doing something wrong. This video makes it very obvious that I am doing things correctly. THANK YOU!
I was so happy to find this video. My daughter moved in while going to school and brought her mixer. She has to no tilt head which was a little confusing to me since I found it messy to remove the paddle with food in the bowl. I also did not attached the bowl correctly and it moved. From this video I understand what I should do and it made it so much easier. I agree this mixer is very good at what it does. I am thinking of buying one for me since my daughter will be moving out soon. Thanks for such a good video
I bake about once a month, mostly cookies, and almost exclusively use the rubber flex edge beater. I never have to stop and scrap the bowl😎 It is well worth the $25 or so price.
The white paddle attachment is the very same one as the one you are calling "the all metal" paddle. It is simply coated to prevent the metal (aluminum) from reacting with acids which may be in some of the recipes a person makes with the mixer. The bare aluminum one you prefer is no stronger than the white one but it will react with some foods and this is generally not wanted.
Hello Kitchen Aid family. I have a question to ask about the glass bowl. I have an older kitchen aid , it's a Deluxe edition came with a glass 5 qt bowl. It recently boke and I cant find a replacement. Any advice or guidance on where to find one that would fit would be very very appreciated.
I have a very old kitchen aid. I can not find attachments for it ( lost in a move). The pin at the side of the shaft won't allow for the "placement" of the attachments. I special ordered ( 3rd time trying) to find some that would work. I got some accessory that did fit the thickness of the shaft but not the pin. I never noticed if the pin was suppose to push in. I love this video. It gives me something to try - so I can get my mixer back in the game. Can't say I am happy though. The newer accessories are not stainless steel and so you can't put them in the dish washer ( they gunk-up). I am at my wits end. The old kitchen Aid's is what built the reputation for the company. So many people think the newer ones are junk. When I worked at Macy's they where the leading returned item in the home wares departments. I love my kitchen Aid but like so many other (newly manufactured) appliances when they started to engineer them to break after a certain period of use -they did not take into account "real world use." Sometimes having knowledge, thrifty green habits and integrity hurts. I have learned that my habit of never throwing anything away until it was completely non- repairable has me baring witness to the organizational collusion- all modern major appliances are junk and people are just stupid. Where the person is smart taken in a group we are just plain stupid and lazy. This makes it dangerous for all of use. We all owe something to society. The poor, the poorer and, the rich. The people that can afford to sue these companies don't. Why should my 30 year old washer and dryer still be working, my 2003 car be getting the same gas miles comparably to other newer models and saving energy ( electric bill) have my energy bill rising instead of falling? Technology/innovation makes things cheaper. Innovation also destroys and opens new paths. The greedy has held the future back giving us a world destroying itself. Consumers are the ones being consumed. Kitchen Aid should be ashamed. They are just one of many- though. They could have been the best in the world "BUT" for not wanting people to be able to past their stand mixer from mother to daughter. Dishonesty bring even the mighty low when the worm turns.
I realize this video was made in 2013, but I wanted to let you and others know that KA sells a 5 qt tilt head mixer at a lower price point for stores like Macey’s and Costco. These cheaper ones are Model 150 and are just called Artisans. They aren’t as well made, for instance, the attachment screw is not spring loaded, making the attachments not fit as well and is louder. The better 5 qt Artisan Design Series is Model 155 and always comes with a glass bowl. The other parts are KA quality performance, but their MSRP is close to $430.00. If you look carefully at different sights you can find the better 155 model with colors that may be discontinued. I received mine at Bestbuy.com for $235.00 with free shipping and got a Candy Apple Red. Other sites may have those too, it’s worth waiting to find the right model (155!).
It was my dream to have it from long time, due to its expensive in our country 10 times more I didn't buy. Now I m visiting USA and bought it for $380. Thanks to God to fullfil my dream This video helped me before I start. Thzz
Thank you my kitchenaid tilthead red one is due to be delivered soon my first ever I can't wait to get started now thanks for helpful advice I shall look for some recipes now on you tube to get me started..💕
I recently brought the 4.5 bowl mixer used its in great condition however. , the wire beater I soaked in bleach and noticed a little rust coming from the top should I be alarmed. I replaced it should I have done this? Plz help 🙏 thanks
How do you clean the heavy metal mixer? Whenever I use it, my batter mixture turned to color gray. It must be came out from the metal even though I cleaned very well. Could you show how to clean metal mixture?
It appears that putting on the attachments (on the NON TILT HEAD) Model is a bit awkward. What is the price difference between the two different styles? Does the Lift Model move around much during aggressive mixing for eg. Cinnamon Bun Dough preparation?
I’ve heard they are useful for shredding meats and cheeses and mixing meatloaf mixture etc. I’m not a baker though will occasionally so I got for everything else...any ideas?? I waited years to get one because I couldn’t justify the expense because I don’t bake but I got a terrific deal. I got the 5 qt artisan model. Will make bread too.
tried to use my mixer tonight. Beater paddle kept hitting the metal bowl. This is a new mixer for me. Tried everything and thought it was broke. Till I watched this video about the metal bowl having to snap into place with that rear metal button........duh, problem solved. Thanks so much for this video.
Hi I was going to subscribe to you. But I notice that it's other people on here I thought it would just your show. I love how you take your time explaining things & your very soft spoken. But I did save this particular video :-)
My wife and I just got a Professional 600 and it is very noisy/loud, is that normal? I would hate to think that we would have to wear hearing protection just to use it.
Very informative video! I've had an Artisan for 10 years and love it. I like the idea of additional beaters! Recently I purchased the flex-edge beater and love it! I'd wondered what the difference was between the nylon flat paddle vs there stainless steel, which you shed some light on. I'll be purchasing one of those as well as the glass bowl...already have the 4.5 qt bowl. So glad I found your channel! Subscribed!
sasha xo: The different is only on capacity production.. The small one is only enough for 1 kg of flour and big one may enough for 2 or 2,5 kg of flour..
Great video. I purchased my 4.5 quart KitchenAid Stand Mixer a month ago and I can't wait to use it. Eventually I'm going to invest in a bigger one, either 5 or 6 quart. :-)
The problem with the "burnished metal" flat beater, dough hook, and whisk is that they MUST be hand washed. The problems with the glass bowls are that they are extremely heavy, are very expensive, and are really awkward to use.

Hi, I just bought mine I’ve never had a kitchen aid brand before, is it normal for speed 4 to not work? Or is mine faulty?
Thank you. I just received my first Kitchen Aid mixer and this really helped me to understand it!
I have the bowl lift model I inherited from my father-in-law 20 years ago.

Some model like the one I have will start slow and reach the desired speed regardless of the speed you select.
Haaa!

Nice Review, Dédé. Thank you for sharing. 🙏🇬🇧
Thanks for teaching us how to fix the Balloon Whisk. Now I can fix the whisk. Thank you so much. I try and I got it.
Excellent presentation! I just couldn't get the bowl off my 6 Quart Bowl off my stand, and KUDOS just like that you solved my problem.
It was my dream to have it from long time, due to its expensive in our country 10 times more I didn't buy. Now I m visiting USA and bought it for $380. Thanks to God to fullfil my dream

So what is the "flat beater" for? You explained the other two attachments in detail.
Finally a great "how to" video. Thank you!
I have the red tilt head one I got it a month ago and its Amazing! I love it so much and I use it a LOT!
Me too but ,I have had mine for years still mixes the best
Keep in mind, the glass bowls are REALLY heavy. I prefer the stainless for most things.
I need parts off this mixer how I get pl let me knw
Stacie Shannon
They use the glass bowl for demonstration purposes so you can see the inside.
emaikalone
Well glass bowls are mainly used for that, and I would personally just use the glass bowl for liquids and foams
emaikalone
Yeah I don’t have the glass bowl, in fact I’m a young teen soooooo
Amazing! You just saved me for thanksgiving!! 🦃
Thanks a praise for the video! First use my kitchen aid mixer! And this was the first video up! And was straight to the point! Thank u!🎄🥰
Thank you for your valuable information. I am purchasing a KitchenAid this month and this segment helps me understand the various components.
Are the bowls interchangeable from one Artisan to other? I cannot find a stainless steel one recommended exactly for my model.
Can you bake using cake mixes in these mixers?
I just got my 3.5 quart artisan mini stand mixer.
And the flex edge beater was included
Thank you my kitchenaid tilthead red one is due to be delivered soon my first ever I can't wait to get started now thanks for helpful advice I shall look for some recipes now on you tube to get me started..💕
Really nice video, well done. Might I strongly suggest that your video watchers here, UNPLUGGED the mixer prior to any accessory changes.

I purchased mine in 2016 and it came with the flatbeater/scraper paddle

Great job thanks so much for showing us.
The not tilt sucks , I had a 3/4 bowl full of mix and it gets really messy sticking your had to unlock and release the paddle
Wonderful!!!! review. Can you give me the model number for the bowl lift heavy duty mixer?
Thank you very much.
How do you remove the bowl for the red Kitchen Aid mixer? To wash it in the sink?
tried to use my mixer tonight. Beater paddle kept hitting the metal bowl. This is a new mixer for me. Tried everything and thought it was broke. What are the pros and cons of paddle vs. double-beaters?

Great video! I used my tilt head red one today making cupcakes and buttercream frosting.
Very helpful tutorial!
Can u make scones using any of these head ?
I would have liked to see how to place the glass bowl on the mixer---I'm seem to be having a problem with securing the glass bowl in place. Thank you
Slips in just like the metal bowl in the tilt head model here
in the next version of this video, maybe you could show how the bowl attaches to the bottom of the stand.
How do you lower the mixer
Thanks for the great information 🥰👏
Thank you for making this video. I recently got the tilt mixer and wondered what the difference was.
sasha xo: The different is only on capacity production.. The small one is only enough for 1 kg of flour and big one may enough for 2 or 2,5 kg of flour..
Please share the books you have please
Thanks! Great info, great video!
Note: I was recently told by a person who services these, that the bowl-lift units are more difficult and more expensive to service.
I did not know the bowls were the same size.
How many loaves of bread does the 5 quart with glass lid make?
no more than 3 at one time 9 cups of flour per batch
I'm so excited I got one for Mothers day this year and can't wait to use it. I have the tilt head and thank you for the great instructions.
This tutorial was very helpful

HOW DO I GET IT OFF
Pls show me how open up too before out it so how how I wish I need manual with directions
You can print the manual (manuals.com)
por favor si tienen el instructivo completo en español
I disagree about the beaters. The vinyl coated steel is WAY better than the burnished aluminum. The 'burnish' wears off quickly. Never let it soak for even a few minutes. Stacie Shannon do you mean the balloon whisk? Mine is awful it leaks black stuff ...
"tarnish issues" lol Third-World problems.
Just put your tarnished attachment on and quitcher pussyaching. Jeezis.
BrightonGirl after washing it try and oil it up that may help and prevent rusting. I believe even though it is black it is still rust
You obviously dont know what a burnished finish is.
It's not a coating of any kind so there's nothing to wear off.
Very helpful video! Thank you :)
wow! it has been 11 years!
Great video, just the information I needed! Well done.
Very clear and precise, thanks
Ok I just subscribe to your chanel. I had to look up your name.. Thank you for taking the time to teaching us how to bake yummy things. :-)
