This is super late but you can also make your own templates by making holes in the shape of scales, baking the stamp and then pushing it softly on your sculpt. If youre unsure of sort of what to do in order to do this, take a bit of clay and press onto a scaled toy you have to see what that looks like and/or bake that for an additional stamp.
amazing. this is precisly the type of tutorial i needed. i especially liked the paperclip method. the use of it made spectacular results. it would be awesome to see you use some of these techniques applied to sculpture such as a dragon or a dinosaur.
fredrick alexander Thank you so much! I learned that trick from one of the sculptors at Games Workshop. I’ll definitely be doing multiple dragon and dinosaurs sculptures going forward
I did the third pattern in milliput works very nicely for 28mm. I had less success with the first 2 because of the way milliput "tears" but I was also working with a pretty old batch.
This video is so awesome. Idk why it took me so long to find it! I just kept trying to look up videos of people sculpting snakes or dragons when this is what I really needed the whole time!
These textures could them self's be used as pendents with mica power, or used as stamps for polymer clay, the ideas are endless great ideas even using negative and positive stamps.🐝👍
These are some of the best and quickest ways I have seen. The thing with the paperclip at around 2:40 was just awesome. I am doing a Drogon from Game of Thrones and all of these will work. SUBSCRIBED By the way... you hold your tools in a very weird way.
Awesome tutorial! I really enjoyed watching your methods. Thanks for it. :) If it’s possible on future vids can you opt for quieter music? I’ve got my phone volume all the way down to the last bar and the style of it in general is a rather grating when trying to focus and learn. In the end I just muted it entirely. :x
I love this and have tried the first scale with no luck. I think my clay is too soft. I'm using a sculpy clay, but everything mushes together. Do you have a link to the type of clay you use by chance? Thanks for sharing your talent!
I love super sculpey! For this I’m using fimo. If you want your clay to be firmer you can roll it out in thin sheets then put it between some paper. If you watch the “fixing old crumbly clay” video I made you can see the method towards the end.
Awesome! Promote your stuff on the warhammer community, people use "green stuff" for sculpting just like this all the time, and your skill would be sort after!
I don't use polymer clay, but I'm really hoping this works for paper clay too! I'm gonna sketch up a dragon to sculpt sometime and try it out! I'll come back to let you know how it went.
Zouzou , you don’t need to be sorry at all! I appreciate you giving a reason :) Most people would just click dislike and say nothing which makes it hard to know what I’ve done wrong. I picked the song because it was the best of the royalty free music I have access to. I’ll try and work on the music side for the future 😊 Thank you for the feedback
Zouzou haha yeah more I think about it worse the music is 😂 I’m getting a laptop to work from after this Coronavirus thing is over and it should be easier to get better music that’s royalty free. iTunes isn’t great
Those itty bitty scales using the paper clip are so clever!
Thank you for sharing the idea! Harmony to you!
Ohhhhh at first I thought these were the making of texture stamps, beautifully done
could be used for that , yes ?
Thank you so so so much! This and your hair sculpting tutorial is gonna be a massive help for my upcoming commissions!!
Wow this is very helpful! I want to make a crocodile so I’ll use the green tutorial!
I was about to buy the templates. but now I see I can do this, saved me a lot of money, I have the tools already, thanks

What kind of paste have you used?

@@Stickydice Thank you so much! :)
Hi this is super late but whenever my clay gets too soft from my hands, I put it in the fridge for a little while to firm it up a bit.
top tier
Been looking for this video for a long time. I’m a reptile nut. And this helps a lot. But please please slow it down a bit. Lol. Thanks
Thx for the helpful video! What song is in the video ? I love it!
Sooo great!!😍😍😍 where did you get the bent tool that you used to refine the scales? I've never seen one like that before🤔🤨😊
🔥!!!!!!!!
Very good
Awesome! Promote your stuff on the warhammer community, people use "green stuff" for sculpting just like this all the time, and your skill would be sort after!
Super cool! Thanks for sharing! I like the look of that little "foot-like" tool you use to press down the corners, etc. Does that have a name?
thank you!!
Is it the red tool?
@@Stickydice she probably meant the one at 5:17
What is that small tipped tool you are using? Where do I get one?
Brianna Marin it was made from a needle heated up then hammered flat
I don't use polymer clay, but I'm really hoping this works for paper clay too! I'm gonna sketch up a dragon to sculpt sometime and try it out! I'll come back to let you know how it went.
How did it go
Is the “red tip tool” a heat type?
Sculpt a dragon please!
What's the name of your polymer clay brand, bro? Thanks
Fimo 👌👍
@@Stickydice fimo effec/soft?
Fimo soft 👍 I’d recommend mixing it with super sculpey firm if you’re doing complex sculptures
What is this music?
could you make vid ad out sculpting a dragon :)
thanks for this how to for this noob
Your video is cool but the music made me put a red thumb... Not sorry
Zouzou , you don’t need to be sorry at all! I appreciate you giving a reason :)

@@Stickydice that's OK dude, it's just getting personal when there's hard electronic music blasting while seeing your cute scales 😅👌

Great sculpture. Bloody awful music.
Yeah royalty free music sucks 😕
