    Superb video, comercially available tools are WAY TOO BIG for sculpting in 28-32mm scale. I made myself a curved spatula and it's better than anything you can buy. It's also cool that you can add tools as you need them, you will FEEL what tool would make your life easier as you progress, instead of buying a box of chisels and hoping one fits your style.

      I have bought literally hundreds of tools over the years and now when I look in my case nearly all of them are home made

      Thank you so much! Super glad that hear !
      I made theses tools only because people kept asking me how I made them, now I use these new ones I made all the time 😂

    Thanks for sharing. I already thought about making my own tools but also thought it won't be that easy.

    I love this! Silly question, but what is the green and yellow compound you mixed together? Is it just clay?

    • @Stickydice
      @Stickydice  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      That’s sculpting putty, the one I’m using is from Gamesworkshop, they call it ‘green stuff’ on their website.
      You can go for cheaper alternatives such Milliput (plumbers putty). To be honest Any sculpting putty or plumbers putty will work fine 👍

    Did you bake the pen tips for the clay that’s holding the needles to get hard?

    You should post Amazon affiliate links for the stuff you use so it's easy for people to get the right materials plus it would support you channel from the sale percent Amazon gives you

    Might be a stupid question, but how did you get the polymer snakes that tiny. If I roll them by hand they are never uniform.

    • @Stickydice
      @Stickydice  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Make sure the polymer clay is warm and well worked in your hands, then get a clear ruler and use it kind of a rolling pin if that makes sense. May take a few attempts for each piece but that’s normal 😀

    • @IshanDeston
      @IshanDeston 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Stickydice Thank you, i will give that a try.

    • @Stickydice
      @Stickydice  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Another thing to consider is the clay your using, I use fimo mixed with super sculpey firm

    • @IshanDeston
      @IshanDeston 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Stickydice I am using fimo professional. Sometimes fimo professional mixed with Kneadite, when i am not "baking". About 1:10 Fimo and Kneadite.. the Kneadite gets better toolability this way, if i mix about 10% fimo into it.. and it still hardens without baking. Mostly because Apoxie is hard to comeby these days.
      Probably have to go back to using milliput eventually... but that is a different story. So yeah, i've tried a few.. but the smallest i have gotten with the snakes were about 2mm.. and the ones you used on the skull seemed to be smaller and most importantly, uniform. I mean i could manage.. but it takes more finicking around. Didn't even occur to me to use a ruler.

    Are those pins made of a different metal than sewing needles? I've triedbending sewing needles and they snapped. The ones you used seem to bend easily though.

    • @Stickydice
      @Stickydice  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If your struggling try using tailor pins they should be easier to use. You can get them from just about any fabric or craft shop
