If you watch his earlier versions from 1993/1995, the same joke, he's SO MUCH better at telling the same joke as the years go by. Little tweaks, little changes in pauses, and it kills.

From my understanding, a "white" voice is a sound that is uttered from a person of Caucasian descent. If this is the case, how can one who is not of Caucasian descent sound more like one of this heritage then one who is actually of this lineage. It's like saying diluted milk tastes more like water than actual water. It's really not that deep but I hope you have a better understanding of my previous comment now.

Bill Cosby? George Carlin? Jerry Seinfeld? Richard Pryor? Dave Chappelle is funny and all but top 3? I don't think so. He's what I like to call a demi-god of comedy. Sure you may have heard of him and you love his comedy, but he in no way rivals the gods.

Jerry Seinfeld is a matter of opinion because honestly his comedy is only meant for a certain group of people. Dave Chappelle is arguably top 3 even if his career has been very short. He had the biggest show on TV, we need to remember that.
No NO Every other comedian I listed off also plays/played to particular demographics. Jerry Seinfeld might not be for you and Richard Pryor might not be for another guy. It doesn't change the fact that their names are synonymous with comedy. Dave Chappell was well on his way to becoming a comedy god, but he simply jumped ship too soon and it won't be long until he's completely forgotten.

Good point, I guess I just meant his standup comedy is too inclusive for me too call him a top 3 comic but he has accomplished enough to get his name up there.
Dave Chappelle left in his prime so for sure we didn't get to see all we could have seen from him but what he accomplished in that amount of time is beyond all of the greats. The guy was being offered a 50 million dollar contract after only 2 seasons of his show being on air when he decided to leave.
Lets not count him out as far as the future goes though. To say he will be completely forgotten is completely ignorant to the fact that his name is still relevant in comedy today. He has yet to release a special since he left his show; however, he was just named Man of the Year by GQ and is starting to blow up again in his stand up career. It is no where near what level he was at before but that doesn't make what he is doing now any less impressive, it just makes what he did before more impressive. He is definitely arguably a top 3 comedian all time.

The very first time I ever heard Dave doing Stand-up in the early 90's, he did a similar joke. From that one 15 minute or so routine, I knew he was going to be one of my favorites. That same set, he did a skit about why Batman never fights crime in the hood. Absolutely hilarious! Dave is still one of the best today!

I had a conversation like this with a guy at my job(hotel), and this guy wash dishes. Im a overnight manager and Night Audit. Just sharing a smokebreak with this guy. This guy... dishing out all of this advice and talking about how he served 15 years(in and out) jail time and now he's here washing dishes. Whereas, I served in the military 12yrs(8mon Honorably) and I'm now sitting behind a front desk auto-managing a hotel. "Why the hell are you giving me advice?". Ex-convic. Never been arrested. As far as Milw, Wisc goes... only thing he has over me he is that he's white and I'm black.

+Brad Lamb That's what comedians traditionally do. They write stuff and they hold on to the material that works. Though I have to say, Dave never seemed like the kind of comedian who tried to reinvent himself and really push his material into new territories, but it works for him and I think he's one of the greatest.
Louis CK and Bill Burr are great examples of the new school, who constantly challenge their own material and mix it up.
