- Prime Minister Liz Truss twice refused to say whether she "trusts" her chancellor Kwasi Kwarteng.
It came after the PM said at the weekend it was Mr Kwarteng who decided to go ahead with a tax cut for top earners.
The controversial policy was axed on Monday but homeowners are still faced with soaring mortgage costs after the Bank of England pushed up interest rates to counter rising inflation.

That's not Boris, that is EVERY politician in the UK, every PM since the 80's has done things like this. She's not just dressed up, she was visiting the site, so needed all the clobber on for health and safety. Though they then take the opportunity to do some interviews while they are in the thick of it precisely so they portray that image.
Perhaps she could learn to drive a tractor and dress up in overalls.

I agree, I hope that this soon becomes the norm, rather that allowing all these politicians to get away with not answering the specific questions being asked, and letting the, give an answer to another question. Keep reminding them, and the audience that no answer was given to the question. This is a government of chaos. They are clueless. To choose not to apply a windfall tax on the energy companies is madness, it is almost as though she might have really close links and even worked for someone like Shell…. They are enriching the energy companies with tax payers money and will cut benefits to keep doing that. And raise retirement age for everyone.

I would have asked her why our energy is sold on the world market instead of being reserved for domestic use. We DON'T benefit from North sea oil/gas and we won't benefit from fracking/shale gas but the Energy Giants will again post record profits.

Perhaps if Thatcher had not sold off our oil and gas in the North Sea and subsequent Tory government had not sold off our gas reserves we might be in a better position. She needs to stop banging on about the energy price cap, it will all have to be paid for by the taxpayer I believe that Labour's plan was to make the energy markets pay for it. I think that she should seriously contemplate resigning before she makes an even bigger full of herself and her Chancellor.

The champagne reception that the Chancellor had with 40 Hedge Fund managers immediately after the budget announcement needs to be thoroughly investigated. Who arranged it, who was in attendence and what was the purpose. Was it to celebrate the fall in the £, interest rate rises or the quick fortune made.
This substantially more important than endless discussions on U turns because the wheels are already off the bus.
Alan, I agree. It is a shame society does not hold these so called officials, who they vote in to 'govern' them, to account for their actions. Instead we have divide and conquer and society still dependant on their government. Not too sure who is to blame at this stage really.

A reminder of the ego indulgent leadership contest during the impending energy crises. Also, reminder of the sociopathic drone refusing to give "handouts" to households grappling with the exorbitant energy bills
She keeps going on about keeping down fuel bills, but she had to be dragged kicking and screaming into doing it. Both Labour and the Lib Dems had been calling for action for many months. The Labour plan would have stopped bills going up AT ALL, and would have taken away the energy companies' massive windfall profits in order to pay for it instead of tax payers having to stump up at a later date. Truss's priority was protecting the profits of colossal fuel companies, not the ordinary person. She also keeps blaming the Bank of England for putting up interest rates (stressing that they are independent in order to say that it's their choice). What the interviewer failed to pick her up on is that the only reason the Band of England was having to put up interest rates was because of the catastrophic effects of her own mini-budget.
How can she say we won't have to pay our bills, it's all funded by national debt, so we will have to pay it back, not just pay it back, pay it back with massive interest!
