The 1st time i blayed pkmn X i got evee and wanted to get an umbreon. Well i played with evee and wut not and when it evolved and sylveon appeared and not gonna lie i was disapointed. Until i read that in order to get a sylveon it has to love its trainer. Felt like an ass for being upset and i kept it on my main team. Ive kept it since then and it fathered my entire evee family and was also the 1st pokemon i ever trained to lvl 100.

I have mad respect to whoever used milotic in generation 3. On top of a hard beauty requirement, the odds of catching feebas were astronomically low.
fr fr, it was easy for me tho (I wasn't even looking for feebas when I got one)
It's easy when use the lotto number trick (which tells you which tiles the feebas are on). Making poffins isn't hard, it's just the finding feebas part which is hard, if you don't know the trick that is.

I am OK with happiness (Crobat is one of my all-time bros), but trading for me is absolutely impossible

Trades with items are the bane of my life. I hate that game freak still thinks that anyone, even kids, are going to accidentally trade a Pokemon to a friend and be surprised when it evolves.

Just to feel old I remember when getting Magikarp to level 20 was considered a bit of a grind and a lot people just didn't bother.
People complained a lot about having to lvl up their cocoon pokemon in general for a bit as well. To be fair, without exp share it definitely is annoying to have to lvl up a completely useless Pokemon.

The hardest part about evolving feebass wasn't getting its beauty stat up, but catching a feebass to begin with.

I think Trade evolutions are great for the social aspect of the series but it's a bit awkward for loners or people who don't know anyone who plays. I wish there were NPC trade systems or something to help people in those positions.

GameFreak heard you, Eevee's evos are easier.
Glaceon and Leafeon use Evolution Stones like the original three, and there's a wild Terra Sylveon near the Fairy Star Base.

Two things: first, I'm mildly surprised Malamar wasn't mentioned as the timing can actually be tricky.
Second, I caught myself a shiny female salandit with no cute charm, first try. Yes I'm bragging, but it's because it took quite some time chaining and I'm proud.

When I was a kid, I randomly caught a female Combee in X before I abandoned the game. I discovered this when I revisited the game as a fifteen year old and realized I could have a Vespiquen on my team. So guess who beat the Pokémon League with a Vesqpiquen?

How the hell would anyone figure out how to evolve Yamask. No one hints at it and it’s worse than Inkay. At least Sirfetch’d isn’t too bad since the leek on Farfetch’d increases crits and 3 isn’t too hard to get in a battle
I put a Scope Lens and gave a Dire Hit to my Farfetch'd to level it up in one battle. That wasn't too bad once I looked up what it required.
Kudos to whomever figured out fucking Runerigus though. My Yamask was at the same level as my final stage party and I was trying to figure out how the hell to get it to evolve.
Least Glaceon is easier to get early game now got one pretty quick for my play through

These are harder to figure out than to do:
1) Inkay requires leveling up while the game is upside down.
2) Shedinja requires an empty spot in your party, which most people only have before catching 6 Pokémon.
3) Mantyke requires a Remoraid in the party.

Honestly, Mantyke's is a hilarious case of "easier to figure out if you're not into pokémon" cuz those people would not be like "Ok these are normal evo methods" and might just suggest "huh doesn't Mantine have a Remoraid attached to it".
The funny thing about evolving Inkay into Malamar is that it’s evolution method sounds like something that a little kid would make up to mess with their friends tbh
Honestly, I kinda liked friendship/milotic evolution it made the process of evolving a pokemon more unique and as a result I felt a little more closer to them because of the extra work put into its evolution

It's one of those love-or-hate things imo
I can appreciate it if I'm _actively_ using that Pokemon on a playthrough, but if I'm just doing it to fill out dex entries or god forbid it's one of the MANY baby Pokemon who need friendship to evolve but are too weak to seriously use on your team, it's just too tedious to justify -- especially with how expensive or time-consuming it can be to do so

One thing Michael didn't mention about Meltan is that while it does take 400 candies like Magikarp and Wailmer, their buddy distance (the distance you have to walk with a Pokemon as your buddy in order to get one candy) is 1k. Meltan's buddy distance is 20k

Easy if you know what to do. I managed to piece together that the evolution method was fighting a certain pokémon, and I _even_ guessed that it was against Bisharp, but what stumped me was having to do it _three times_ and against _specific_ Bisharps leading packs of Pawniards.

Wonder it that applies for the anime
Milotic was actually worse to get than you said in Gen III. Not only was Feebas hard to get, there was a limit to how many pokeblocks you could feed a Pokémon. So if you got a Feebas that didn't like dry food, or fed it too many crappy pokeblocks, you could reach the pokeblock limit without maxing out the beauty stat.
Another thing about the Charjabug evolution, Charjabug is a physical attacker and Vikavolt is a special attacker, so if you're wanting a good Vikavolt you need to be using a REALLY bad Charjabug. Or the other way around, a Decent Charjabug (Base 82 attack) you have to get a REALLY REALLY bad Vikavolt.

Crobat is so ridiculously easy. Whenever I catch a Zubat early in my adventure and put it on the team, 0the level after it evolves into Golbat, it evolves into Crobat. It's that easy.

I remember catching Feebas while randomly fishing in Emerald as a kid. For the longest idea, had no idea why people thought it was hard to catch lol
Oh Arceus I remember Hydreigon. I traded a Lv. 5 Deino from HOME into my Shield file for dex reasons, and after using the few candies that I had on it so it could be, well, usable on all of the lv. 30-60 wild pikemon in the post-game. It took shy of 60 hours of grinding with it being the only mon on my party, plus max friendship AND being a traded mon. At least I had like 30 candies for Goodra when I caught it IN THE RAIN.
At Melmetal; OH BOY I got hella flashbacks at the mention of locking Meltan by transferring it into a Let's Go game T-T I did that while messing around with the safari zone transfer stuff, and only realized, hours later, that I couldn't evolve that little goop... safe to say I was not happy lol. And yeah, like you mentioned, I really didn't want to spend even more hours grinding up a pokemon that I don't even like.

I think the reason why eevee has to know sylveon a fairy type move is so that people who already have a full friendship eevee, but they want an espeon or umbreon, they still have a way to do it.
Affection and Friendship are separated things. You get Slyveon from high Affection, while Espeon and Umbreon from high Friendship.

I didn’t have any particular plan for those two eevees (this was on sun and moon), I was doing some breeding for a shiny with my shiny mom and shiny dad from japan (I’m assuming because his IVs were terrible so I got him from a wonder trade), I started training them for fun and they evolved into sylveon. I finished the dex so I wasn’t too bothered (neither of them were shiny if you were wondering).

For Shelmet and Karrablast: if the other player / system doesn't have the second pokemon, you could catch it and trade it to them for something else before doing the trade evo with the first pokemon.
The gen 9 Pokémon evolutions that are annoying to me are:
Pawmot, Rabsca and Brambleghast with their "walk 1000 steps without stopping to evolve" method. The annoying part of its not you or your Koraidon/Miraidon who has to do the walking, it's them who has to do the walking.
Houndstone for time based Evo (I got a shiny Houndstone in Area Zero while hunting for ROARING MOON with the sparkling power not so ghost, so who cares)
Kingambit for the fact that you can't just beat ANY Bisharp to evolve it, you have to find a Bisharp leading a squad of Pawniard, and beat 3 of those Bisharp to evolve it. (This is a unique and good way for a Pokémon with "King" in its name, but definitely annoying.)
Gholdengo for... Well, obviously.
For anyone who is still struggling on the Pokemon who require walking to evolve, go to a pokemart, throw out your pokemon, then use miraidon/korraidon to jump on top of the pokemart. This will cause the Pokemon to run in circles underneath the roof, and they should get to 1000 steps pretty quick.
@@matthewdepew6268 I just find it annoying that you don't have an indicator on when you actually walked 1000 steps with that poké. Like, dunno, make it jacked up or give a special message when interacted with or something.

Actually it is four times, if you want to complete the dex you'll lose Porygon2 if you just trade it twice.
1.- Porygon->Friend.
2.- Friend->Porygon, then evolves into Porygon2.
3.- Porygon2->Friend.
4.- Friend-> Porygon2, then evolves into Porygon-Z.
See? Four trades.

I think its good that Eevee has to know a fairy type move to evolve into Sylveon. It avoids the issue of 'I wanted Umbreon/Espeon but accidentally got Sylveon and now im mad'
Also baby doll eyes is a level 9 move and you will probably be breeding/hatching anyway for sylveon.
Except I wanted an umbreon but didn't know that if my eevee had a fairy type move it would become an sylveon ):

I've played a few games with a Sylveon on my team, and I've NEVER realized Eevee needs a fairy type move to do it. Guess I just got lucky and always had baby doll eyes on them, 'cause I've never accidentally gotten Espeon or Umbreon...

Naganadel is easy to evolve. Heart Scales are easy to get with the special restaurant dishes, like the Ronin set in Malie City’s restaurant where Nanu comes to eat with you, and you get 8 Heart Scales.

Wow I didnt even know that roselia needs high friendship when I catched a budew in my first pokemon game. I just carried that budew with me around all the time.. that actually makes my heart melt cuz that pokemon was literally my first favorite pokemon and I obviously just really build up a natural friendship 😅

The reason for Eevee needing a fairy type move is because Eevee already evolves into 2 other pokemon through high affection, so it makes sense so as to avoid getting Umbreon or Espion.

You forgot about Malamar that you need to evolve it by leveling up while you hold your 3ds backwards, it isn't hard to do but it's really anoying to discover that.
Feebas is hella difficult to even find, much less evolve.

I personally think Sylveon isn’t hard to evolve.
In gen 6, you can easily get an Eevee that knows baby-doll eyes in route ten. Almost all of the Eevee’s I’ve caught there have the move baby-doll eyes
And now it just evolves with friendship and a fairy move, which isn’t harder but more time consuming than using Pokémon Amie for like ten minutes
In shield, i wanted an umbreon for Allister, but my eevee knew charm, so......

Yeah I remember that. I immediately started getting up affection and had it almost immediately and did that in both my runs in both sun and moon. When I played PokéMon Pearl for the first time, I caught the first Combee I saw and it evolved into Vespiquen like normal. When I went over to a friends house one time and I showed him my current team, he got upset because his Combee wouldn’t evolve and it was higher level than my Vespiquen. We had no idea why and it was always a mystery until one day when he and I were teenagers, we found out that only the female Vespiquen evolve and sure enough, mine was female and his was male 😂 I guess I was just super lucky that the very first one I ran into was a female
In Gen 3 there's also a cap to the amount of berry poffins you can give a pokemon. If you just give the feebas low grade poffins it's beauty won't max out and won't evolve. I'm pretty sure you HAVE to use a super rare one of a kind berry, or just be Jesus at making poffins to max it. Getting Milotic was so damn difficult, but so worth! :)
Fun fact: Goodra was supposed to be a dragon/water type at first but later on they decided to leave it as just a dragon type because apparently otherwise there would be too many water type pokemon in this generation. The weather condition that's needed to evolve Sliggoo into Goodra was because of that secondary type.

I remember it took me just over 3 hours to find a female Salandit in Moon. Then when I was playing Sun and decided to go for a completely different team, the second Salandit I encountered was female.

The reason eevee needs to know a fairy move to evolve into sylveon is so that it doesn’t evolve into espeon or umbreon as all 3 are friendship evolutions
This is false until gen 8 (idk gen 8 very well) In gen 6 and 7 the affection mechanic from Pokémon Amie was separate from the friendship mechanic that has been around since gen 2. You can only obtain Espeon and Umbreon using friendship, and you can only obtain Sylveon using affection (Pokémon Amie)

I evolved 2 Meltans with one box, I then kept one and transferred one with a Meltan into Pokemon Home to add to my Sword game.
They are now waiting back there until S&V get added to PH.
(I had to sacrifice my Sword to GameStop in order to get Violet, thank Arceus for being able to mass transfer all my Pokemon to Home)
When I first played X and Y I wanted to get a Sylveon. I worked on raising Evees friendship level and leveled it up and it evolved. Little did I know I had just stumbled into a Moss Rock as it leveled up and ended up with a Leafeon.
Not gonna lie, I’ve bred 100s of lucario and some how have never realized that he only evolves during the day, wow

Tbh I was disappointed you couldn't get leafeon via leaf stone in SS/HG because there's no other way to get it unless you used Nintendo wifi or owned two ds's and a copy of diamond, platinum or pearl; and since Nintendo wifi isn't around anymore sadly there's no other way then having two ds's and that one cord you need.
The majority of Ice types anyway are usually found near the end of the main game, so getting Glaceon at that point, is pretty 1:1 with getting other Ice types.
Luckily they rectified this by making it so both Glaceon and Leafeon evolve with stones. But still. It’s not like they’re exactly “the best” Eeveelutions out there. Leafeon is weak to 5 types, while Glaceon is weak to 4. Most of those types being more common usually
I agree on the sylveon part. I did it differently. I breed eevee and as soon as it hatched from the egg I gained hearts in the pokemon amie on it and when I had enough hearts I battled some strong trainers so it leveled up to level 9 after one battle. Then it learned baby

For some Friendship evolutions in my current playthrough of LeafGreen it wasn't too bad. I got Crobat 2 levels after Golbat. Also got Togetic at lvl 9 or something like that. Got Blissey almost as quick as Crobat.
The fairy-type move being a requirement for Sylveon would only be senseless if Umbreon and Espeon weren't already introduced a few generations before. Because those pokemon are around it's pretty clear why that would be a requirement.

for real. went through the wild area getting watts (before entering motosoke the 1st time) & one of the digs from the (right side) digging brothers he found 3 Ice Stones. Only issue was the 1%(sword) & 5%(shield) rates in Route 4 where u get chased by the cats & dogs lol

Leveling up an electrike in emerald is such a pain. It only learns tackle and quick attack until spark at level 20, and it’s attack stat is trash.

I use to just adjust the clock in my characters house in order to evolve my Eevee into either Espeon or Umbreon, no matter the time in the real world, lol. However, in the Soul Silver version that I bought for the nostalgia effect, the adjustable in-game-time is no longer a feature, maybe because of the DS's internal clock itself.
You can add 1 more candy to Melmetal now, in that if you mega evolve Aggron then open your Meltan box to spawn them, youi'll have a +1 bonus to steel type candies and get 4 per Meltan without a pinap berry. There's also a silver Pinap berry that's more effective now.
Happiness evolutions are nice for me, it gives me the feeling of they evolved because they appreciated the love and care I gave them.

Tbh, I've always found Feebas - Milotic evolution really cool, and made me love Milotic even more. I've always wondered why Game Freak didn't add more evolutions like that. They could've replaced trade evolutions with contest attributes. E.g. Machoke evolves by max toughness, or Kadabra by max smartness.

3 copperajah level curries will boost friendship to 220 iirc. If not that then maybe 4 of em.

I just like to say that some of these entries can be less of a problem if you go to the specified location and use a rare candy. Although rare candies do reduce the effects counter you get in battle, you won’t have to deal with accidentally leveling up the Pokémon from grinding in another area before going back to the location you need to go to and level it up with a few more times.
Also, friendship evolutions isn’t much of a problem if you go to a nursery and get an egg then have it grind with an exp share for a bit. I’ve found it allot faster to gain friendships stats with a low level encounter. Plus with this method you can get the proper ability and IV you want for that Pokémon since you can litterally just farm a bunch if eggs from the nursery. (This method of course will not work with Pokémon that are genderless.)

What about evolving inkay? You need to have it at a certain level, in handheld mode, with no controllers attached, AND the switch has to be UPSIDE-DOWN. Also evolving Galarian yanmask requires your yanmask to take at least 49 damage without fainting in a single battle, get three critical hits, and walk under a specific stone arch in the wild area.
