    Beautiful bike! One comment regarding your statement about blinding oncoming traffic at 2:18 : SON headlights (and all other headlights permissible in Germany) specifically have been designed not to blind oncoming traffic for a good reason. For the sake of all other participants at PBP, please adjust the tilt of your headlight accordingly as described in the manual. It still illuminates the street sufficiently even for fast descents. Have a fun and safe ride at PBP!

      That’s a good call! Thank you! In the cases where I blinded folks, it has usually been after riding solo on country roads and having adjusted my light up. Then I forgot to set it back. I will definitively check it before I start PBP. Thank you for the reminder. Those 80-hour riders will be heading back soon enough. Best!

      Thank you so much. Yeah, me too. I'm traveling in a hard case, so I hope that helps. But I had to fully disassemble it to pack. That was hard, right after I got it all dialed in. lol. Thanks for following along!

    Wow...curated is exactly the right word! That's a beautiful bike...the Yellow Cannon is so much prettier knowing that she came together over the years rather than spec'ing her out all at once. There's a LOT of inspiration/information here...thanks so much for taking the time to make this during what must be an incredibly busy week. Have an amazing time in Paris (then Brest, then Paris again) and enjoy the ride!

      That was fun to make! Thank you so much for asking about the Yellow Cannon. I had some nice realizations about my relationship and history with the bike. I appreciate that. Thanks again.

    My first drop bar bike as an adult was a green Cannodale T800 (with a headshok). I was very comfortable, but sooo heavy. I don't miss mine, but glad you're enjoying yours. Good luck at Paris-Brest-Paris!

    • @blockprojects
      @blockprojects  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s very cool! I have never met another T800 owner. It is heavier than the carbon bike, for sure, but I still have the steel bikes beat :-) of course not with all my added accessories. Comfort and style comes at a price haha. Thanks for watching!

    Really nice bike, and a classy choice of components. Those older cannondales are so well made with their smooth welds and deep glossy paintjobs. Nice little detail is the "handmade in USA" sticker on the top tube. Says it all really. I like that you take so much care in matching all the components and colors. Good luck with PBP!

    • @blockprojects
      @blockprojects  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey! Thank you so much. Yeah, I love those details and that Handmade in the USA sticker is kind of badge. lol There were a ton of Cannondale enthusiasts at PBP. Way more than I expected, such a fun environment and great conversations. Thank you for watching!

    Try the tyre in the space between the back mudguard and the seat tube. Plenty of space there, without increasing your frontal area.

    • @blockprojects
      @blockprojects  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey David! Thanks for your comment. That's a good spot but when I am fully loaded, my saddle bag fills that space. But I do think there is a creative way to build a tire holder on to the mudguard a bit further back. I'm going to be working on a new design over the next few months. I'll keep you posted. Thank you for watching!

    3:50 Check the life adjustment on the Brooks. Well done maintaining such a wonderful functional piece of art.

    • @blockprojects
      @blockprojects  ปีที่แล้ว

      You mean the adjustment screw in the front? Do you think it has too much "hammock?" I just tightened it about a week ago. It feels really comfortable but then again, I'm still learning what the exact right tension is. You got any pointers?

    • @TL243
      @TL243 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@blockprojects that is how Brooks work. that screw will give the saddle continued life for many years to come as long as you pay attention to the tension of the leather. and for ultra folks longer saddles are critical to long term comfort.

    this set up is amazing and I congratulate you for it and I was wondering how come you pick the fenders flat instead of custom compound curve as I assume the flat ones wouldn't give you the same coverage from the spray but this is just my assumption? I would love your take. The bike is a work of art congratulations and happy and safe riding. Cheers.

    • @blockprojects
      @blockprojects  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi! Apologies for the late reply. Thank you so much. You are right about the fenders, they splash more. I just like the more modern flat look and the finish. It’s the one sacrifice on practicality. But they still work pretty well. :-) thanks again!

    I would just add the lightest most foldable tyre you can get your hands on so you can roll it as small as possible for the emergency spare . Prob never going to need it anyway if ones on the bike are in A1 condition.

    • @blockprojects
      @blockprojects  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, good call! The one I have on there is folding but just not as concise as it could be. And the carrier I built has not been truly stress tested. I will keep a close eye on it. I hope I don’t need a tire but certainly don’t want to be knocked out of PBP by if I do. It’s worth the weight. Thank you!

    You said that the bar bag was specifically vegan, but B17s are leather? Is there a reason for this?

    • @blockprojects
      @blockprojects  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, Good call out. I avoid leather where I can but it's not 100%. I tried many vegan saddles but nothing worked well. The B17 is the best solution. Thank you!

    8:34 scary. you can flatten it and stuff it under the Brooks. you have plenty of room to stuff it under the rails and over the bag.

    • @blockprojects
      @blockprojects  ปีที่แล้ว

      You mean scary because you think it could get caught on something or the wheel? If so, I had that thought as well and it is a possibility, particularly because the fork is tapered. If it were to slide down, it could become loose, spin around, go in the wheel and be a real show-stopper. So, as a backup, I installed a stopper below it so it can't come loose, and it's wired to the base of the front rack so it won't slide or swivel. I've done test riding on it and it seems solid. I don't really have the real estate under the seat. However, in a pinch I could make it work. I'll keep you posted.

    • @TL243
      @TL243 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@blockprojects you do have real estate. between the rails and it lays over the bag. been there done that.
