Driving Somerset roads, lanes and byways.

Drive the roads, lanes and byways of Somerset. but beware your SatNav if it suggests a shortcut.
Satnavs seem to be attracted to these narrow lanes if asked for a shortcut. It will land you in trotrouble ble - or even worse.
The A303, highway to the sun, eventually takes you past Stonehenge through Somerset on its way through the West Country to Cornwall.
Visitors may be unprepared for the lack of pavements, grass verges and ehgerows which are often replaced by very strong stoen walls - and narrow lfarm anes covered in inches of slurry.

I spent 4-plus years as a schoolboy in Stratton-on-the-Fosse, Somerset, but know very little about the place.
