Deep thinking James, my watch collection is based on my emotional reaction, how they make me feel looking at them, in the moment, life captured in that second. The benefit is when others look at the watches and are in awe of what I am wearing, it solidifies I was right in buying the watch. Keep up the great work mate :)
Watches and their attractions dont make sense to other people outside the community. We connect weird memories and attachments to them that remind us of all the strangest things. All part of the game I guess! Have a great one James!
Yours is an interesting analogy. I sometimes think about my watches as the girlfriends I had in my life: some were sexy, some were smart, some I forgot long ago, some were really expensive, some were super nice, a few probably hate me now, etc. Please don’t tell my wife.
Thanks for your thoughts. I think we all have some rules for our watch collecting. Unless you have endless space and money, you have to set some rules. Again, that’s just me through. Thanks again!
There are some mean spirited comments in here. Shocking for TH-cam, I know... I enjoy the non-review videos myself, and this video as well. I get the metaphor and definitely relate to it. Plenty of others can do the endless NH35 review train, keep these up, Jimbo.
As we say within the WIS community “it’s better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all”. I keep this in the back of my mind, although this doesn’t stop sellers remorse from time to time.
Well, there's never any useful information gleaned from this channel, but it is endlessly entertaining in a, "just when I thought it couldn't get any more out there" way. Fun stuff for a rainy Sunday afternoon giggle.
I like these little vaguely philosophical videos. I had a random thought about my collection and came to the conclusion that I need a watch to do at least one more thing besides tell the current time. This could be a chronograph, a timing bezel, an alarm, a GMT, etc. I realized all the watches that don’t stay in the collection are all the simple three handers. This isn’t an analogy but just a random observation in an attempt to better my purchases in the future.
Some of my watches have very strong memories and emotions. I have two that I wore with my kids tobogganing, 15 years ago. I dont wear them much anymore but every time I see them I think of those past times.
I see you ended up keeping the Oris. It’s a nice looking watch. I shall have your collection one day, 😂 We kind of have a few of the same watches. I need to get some pocket watches at some point.
Looks like you are almost pressing some rules of watch collecting on yourself when there's none. Just enjoy it and do whatever you want to do with them.
Dude!?!? You might need a hobby or something else to think about for awhile. It’s starting to sound like you feel guilty about the time and money spent on this one. Way too much over analysing and convoluted reasoning and justification. Just enjoy your watches do what you want with them, more reviews and less waffle about why you think you are collecting, sorry to be rude but I love your channel when you’re showing us “watches”.

I’ve definitely found that forming that connection results in certain watches staying in the collection

It certainly is.

Well said man. Some you never ever want again.
Hahahahahaha. Now that would be an interesting video 😳
Thanks for WATCHing

Thanks Stephen. I really appreciate your comment.
I can’t please everyone. So just make the videos I enjoy making.

Hahahaha. Unfortunately no. It was sold. Just made this video prior to making that decision
Go with the flow
