    Be sure that the thread is truly damaged. I had the situation where there was varnish build up on the threads. It made the spark plug difficult to move. It looked like the thread was damaged. I almost ended rethreading I looked by chance and realized it. I removed the varnish and that was the end of the problem. It's good to verify the damage first

    I've noticed the many ways that you try to keep foreign particles out of the motor.
    I like to use a small hand held vacuum cleaner with computer keyboard tips. They usually come in a set of four or five different sizes with a short hose. It will suck every last bit of contamination out of the cylinders and the larger tip works great for intake valleys.
    Thanks for the videos!

    Very nice. Helpful and concise. I like the idea of running the engine for a minute to blow out any debris. I'm about to do this on a small engine, so I'll just crank the engine several times with the plug out. Thanks.

    I am forever in debt to you sir. Good video and great product. I blew out a plug like and hour and a half from my home. And I went to a nearby Napa after finding your video and picked up the kit. It was easy, quick and cheap. luckily I had extra plugs too. Got me back on the road and home.

    Great video. Helicoils have a spring type look and work well for normal bolts. Not sure for spark plugs tho. Your right, that one is a keensert or timesert, it looks like it's just made by Helicoil. Those directions usually call for some high temp silicone to be used as well.

    So I guess that tap cuts away enough material to alow for the thickness of the helicoil to screw the original size spark plug in.....it seems like it would have to be drilled some.....? but I hope this works as the video shows....I need it too....!!!!

    That tap's taper looks like the job gonna take quite a bit of muscle, when cutting the oversize section of that tap. Why not run a correct size drill bit to size the hole instead of trusting whatever original threads are still intact in the head, for the tap to bite on?

    How do you get the insert in the hole ?

  • @erikterock9071
    @erikterock9071 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I've got a question. Once you finish cutting the new threads, how do you install the insert? The only way I can think of is to thread it onto the plug, then install the plug, but you have to then remove the plug to hammer on the insert. Wouldn't the insert come back out with the plug?

    • @wilson8x
      @wilson8x 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yup, it'll prob come out with the plug...unless I'm doin something wrong but I've did 2 now on my boat motor, 115, and I followed the directions to a T and used red high temp rtv silicone(like the directions say) and they keep wanting to come out with the plug!! I'm up for any help, tips... thanks

    Just one question, that timesert looks kinda small. The number of threads on the timesert doesn’t match the length of threads on spark plug? So, like the spark plug is threaded halfway on the timesert but the other half of threads are just exposed?

I only buggered a lawn mower as a kid so know not to do it again. Somebody else has done this. I cant stand it when people for example open a washing machine tap {to stay open} and turn the bloody thing to mars if they could. Idont know whats in their heads.
