I just want to say thank you for all the support on this video. It’s been fun reading people stories on getting their Dreamcast, and all the game recommendations. Many of you also gave me so much advice on the console and reasons for why mine had some issues. And here is where I have some bad news, as some of you mentioned, my disc drive is going, so I can either replace it, or do what many suggested, getting a GDEMU. I would love to obtain the real games for a collection, but learning the cds can deteriorate, the best choice to make is going with GDEMU. It’ll take time to receive it but once it’s in I plan to make more videos on this amazing console. Plus now I can get every game you all suggested. Shenmue, crazy taxi, rayman 2, resident evil, sonic, etc.. Thank you all again for liking, subscribing, and commenting, it’s mean a lot to me.
Just some advice on the GDEMU, most ones you get will be clones and you absolutely should not upload the firmware on them or it will brick. There are two games that won't work perfectly on older firmwares, but it'll be fine. One of the Resident Evil games (has a patch to fix it) and Skies of Arcadia (skip the intro and the game will work fine). Happy Dreamcast playing, I plan on adding my Dreamcast story to the comments after work!
@@NottJoeyOfficial Thanks for the advice. I've seen that most GDEMU's sold online now are mostly clones, I picked up a 5.20.5 version which I heard fixes issues with games like RE. I don't imagine I'll update the firmware for it, as long as it plays the games I want it should be good.

one thing i HIGHLY recommend, it's getting a Dreamcast VGA cable, and a decent vga to hdmi adapter, trust me the difference on image quality is mind blowing
This was the first time I've ever "felt old"🤣🤣🤣. So happy you got to experience the actual console man. I have so many core memories attached to the Dreamcast.
It’s so nice to hear about younger generations getting into older consoles. Especially Sega who was such a huge player in the 90s. I grew up with Genesis, Saturn and Dreamcast and couldn’t recommend them enough. As far as recommendations go I’m going to recommend Soul Caliber, Shenmue and House of the Dead. All are pretty affordable still. Also if you have access to a VGA adapter connect the Dreamcast up to a desktop monitor. The picture is so clear it could be mistaken for modern gaming. I also really recommend the Saturn library if you like anything with Japanese influence
@arenschultz You don't come across many people who had the megadrive , saturn and dreamcast back in the 90s and early 00s when they were new. Most only got into the saturn and dreamcast later on
I strongly disagree with your House of the Dead recommendation, and it's not because I don't like the game. So first of all, he's gonna need to find a light gun, and I think the cheapest of the three options is like $50-60. This goes without saying that he's gonna need a CRT tv as well. Secondly, this port of HotD is nearly impossible to calibrate the gun to. I tried three separate light guns back in either March or April of this year, none of them cooperated. You know what they worked perfectly with right out of the box with, no calibration? Virtual Cop 2 in the Sega Smash Pack. Many other people have documented this problem, it's a known thing. VC2 on the other hand, laser accuracy, no setup.
@@cd5sircoupe light gun and crt are ideal but I certainly wouldn’t push anyone to go that route. I think the game is still loads of fun with a regular controller
@@arenschultz You're out of your mind if you think playing a light gun game without a light gun is any sort of fun. The experience isn't comparable at all, not even close. Are you a glutton for punishment or do you just not have a lot of time with traditional light gun titles?
The Dreamcast was the first console I bought with my first part time job in high school. Still my favorite console till this day. I'm a little envious that you get to experience if for the first time like many of did years ago. Digging your channel and keep up the great content!
a game I can recommend for the Sega Dreamcast is Crazy Taxi, it's a game about being in a taxi driving people to their destination while avoiding traffic laws, it's incredibly fun so if you find a copy for a fair price, I recommend getting it
Already grabbed it, I was laughing my ass off on how fast I'd be going while slamming into oncoming traffic (I'm not the best currently, but still had fun).
I can't even fathom the idea of kids not knowing the console wars between sega and nintendo, it wasn't just like oh sega had a console, it was a big deal, seeing sonic and mario on the same games would be sacrilege and no one would of ever believed you.
@@OwOLink it's sad because everyone is dropping out of the arms race, it's gonna be Sony, PCs, and Meta quest on the game oligarchy, we have fallen so far from those first battles between Atari and Intellivision
I was born 99, and my first was the Mega Drive, I still find it so novel when people as old as me and sometimes older find out SEGA consoles were a thing. Only one I haven't owned is a Saturn. (Yet.)
It is so interesting hearing the perspective of someone growing up after the era that these were new :) I was 13 when I bought a Dreamcast brand new during the fire sale just after Sega announced they were leaving the console game. I think this was around 2001. I bought it from Electronics Bouitique brand new with a game for 60 dollars off a pallet in front of the store. Games were 99 cents Thank you!
The Dreamcast is such a charming little console with a fantastic library of games! It is truly one of my all time favourite consoles and I'm so happy to pick up this system back in the day when it originally released in the UK. There's a lot of fun, creative and original titles for this system that show a lot of the imaginative concepts and designs that many of these developers would create for this console. What's also nice is the Homebrew/Indie game developers who are still producing and creating fun original titles for the Dreamcast to this day. You made a wise decision to purchase a Dreamcast and I'm sure you'll discover plenty of fun and quirky games.
Yea they failed because of the dreamcast. The system had no security what so ever lmfao I would go to blockbuster rent a game and just copy it and play it on the dreamcast without any mods needed.
I've had a Dreamcast since 2004, when I was 9. I got it for $20 from Gamestop. $20. That was only a few years after the DC got discontinued. I got Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 for $10 each, and Jet Grind Radio for $5. Honestly, the Dreamcast wasn't very reliable hardware-wise. Even that one had a broken disc drive. My dad and I learned how to replace it and it's been fine since.
The Dreamcast was my favorite console growing up! I’m glad you’re excited about it. You should definitely check out Jet Grind Radio, and if you want something a little more obscure, I remember really liking Revolt. Though, it’s been 20 years since I’ve played it, and it might not hold up. Also it had some of the best ports of the time, like the Tony Hawk and Resident Evil games.
I still have my Dreamcast i bought in 2001 brand new for only 130 bucks. It's insane that this beast of a console launched in Japan in 1998 during prime time of N64 and PS1.
These prices are out of control. Collectors - stop it. These retro systems need to be accessible if you want companies to keep catering to us. Anything over $60 is insane. It's a dreamcast, not a CDX.
Couldn’t have said it better myself. I wanna get every Sonic game ever, but with games like the SEGA Saturn and the Game Gear games, Knuckles Chaotix, the Sonic Adventure games for the Dreamcast, and Sonic Shuffle. But collectors always have to ruin the fun for those who just wanna play the damn game.
That store fleeced this kid hard, he significantly overpaid for what he got. Market value's still hovering at about $100, not 150, and they couldn't even clean the thing much less refurb it for that upcharge. I fully agree about collectors and resellers driving up prices to stupid levels though, I barely even collect anymore because it's not worth the cost. I'm just glad I started collecting 20-25 years ago. Unfortunately anything I want that I don't yet own is insanely expensive now. And he's right, last time I saw a CDX it was north of $600. But I mean, going from 2019 to 2020, Dreamcast went from $25 to $100 real quick.
arrived here via parachute (recommendations), Dreamcast was so ahead of time... the problem is that not many people appreciated its full potential. it's so sad that SEGA wanted to spice things up, but it was at the wrong time.
I just started collecting for the Dreamcast about a year ago and some must haves in my opinion, soul caliber, crazy taxi 1 & 2,jet grind radio, phantasy star online, legacy of kain soul reaver there’s so many great games for the console
I still have my old Dreamcast, controllers and VMUs I bought in the 90s with games 😊😊😊😊 Buy Shenmue 1 & 2, Zombie Revenge, Carrier, and MDK 2 very good games
I'm from Russia and my father bought us the console in 2005. I was so happy to play on it. We didn't have a PC yet. I still have my Dreamcast with GDEMU and 128GB SD Card with games and always turn it on for an hour when I visit my parents. You definitely should try Shenmue 1/2 and RE: Code Veronica. Thanks for the video!
Glad to see people playing the Dreamcast for the first time in 2024. I just got mine back from getting a gd-rom replacement and I cannot wait to play Power Stone 2, Mars Matrix, and Elemental Gimmick Gear!!
The fact US stores sell consoles without controllers or cables necessary to run it will always be an alien concept to me. Here you physically cannot hand one in without these things, nor can you buy them without them in highstreet stores.
probably for the best considering these places here would just buy the cheapest 3rd party junk for cables and controllers and sell it all to you for top dollar. ever since the "nes incident" I had, I make damn sure that whatever console I buy, it either has no wires, or all the original wires. I don't want any 3rd part trash.
@@zadock6370It depends. I do lean to purchasing original controllers, but I don't care much for the cables. So, "console only" units is the way to go for me.
Dreamcast was one of the first consoles that you could play bootleg game discs on. depending on how they where made, you could use a boot disc to swap out the copy or later bootlegs just played like regular real games. I'm sure you can find Dreamcast ISOs online.
Love the dreamcast! Got one in 2009 and still play it! Games to recommend: Jet Grind Radio Army Men Sarge's Heroes Tech Romancer Plasma Sword Power Stone 1&2 Crazy Taxi Spider-Man Soul Calibur Jojo's Bizzare Adventure Spawn In The Demon's Hand Sword Of The Berserk Gut's Rage Resident Evil Code Veronica
Two Dreamcast Games I can highly recommend are Fur Fighters and Toy Commander. They’re both very fun but also fairly common games on the system so you should be able to get your hands on them fairly easily (AtLeast thats the case here in the UK) Fur Fighters - is a mix of a Banjo-Kazooie style collectathon with a third person shooter. 6 animal friends set out to save their kidnapped families. You switch between them to solve puzzles and get around the levels. If I’m honest it can be little clunky with its controls but it more then makes up for it with the games scale and charm of the characters, settings and the music. This was Dreamcast exclusive till it was re-released on Ps2 as Fur Fighters: Viggos Revenge, which changed to a cell-shaded art style. I’m not aware if there are any other difference between the versions. But I would still say the Dreamcast is my preferred version. I think it looks a lot better. Toy Commander - the premise is you’re a Kid playing with his toys. you get to complete missions, races and fight bosses while driving cars, tanks, planes and helicopters. Being small scale in regular environments like a kitchen or a bedroom is just so charming in its concept and execution. It was one of the first games I played on the Dreamcast along with Sonic Adventure.
Still love my Dreamcast. Mine is brown from all the smoking in my teens and I've got to ducttape the lid just to play anything. Still the bomb! I'm glad to see the younger generation enjoying this gem! Nice Video man! I'll sub
yeah wait whoa no. I actually felt bad for you seeing that aftermarket junk controller. I feel like giving you one of my good controllers. keep the dream alive.
I love different perspectives to mine on retro gaming. I like to see the youngens get involved and hear what they have to say about it. Great video dude.
Just got recommended this recently, massive Dreamcast fan here, bought one pre-owned around 2001 in the UK for dirt cheap, with SA1 and No VMU for a week or so, still had a blast on it, its a fantastic piece of gaming history, considering at the time it was mind blowing to play on, even with the Xbox, Gamecube and PS2 on offer, it still put up a decent fight, especially if you enjoyed online play, OR just liked the selection of games on offer compared to the other consoles, still rate it as the most fun I have EVER had with a console all these years later, still play on mine, so it was fun to see someone much younger experience it for the first time and enjoy it, as for the "internet" feature, you probably wont be able to use it now, or may have to use a work around someway, BUT it allowed you to upload your chao to a adoption service, so others could then download your chao into their garden, it was really interesting, basically like Ebay for chao in terms of its layout, you can probably find some videos or images of it online.
Some of my favourite Dreamcast games were Soulcalibur, Crazy Taxi, House of the Dead and Sonic (which you have). I think i will be getting my Dreamcast box out the loft this weekend, i have everything up there including the keyboard and gun. Thanks man 👍👍
Man the store that sold you that console is a complete rip off. The condition of everything is really bad for the money you paid, they should at least clean everything and test it before selling. I got my Dreamcast back in 1999 and man, I love it. I will never forget playing Sonic Adventure for the first time, hope it works out for you and the console brings you many years of joy!
i did too actually! for my birthday on the 12th i bought it along with Sonic Adventure Limited Edition, a copy of the game exclusively for blockbuster and let ne tell you it was worth every penny!🎉
Awww. My older brother got a Dreamcast in Christmas of 2000. He was 14 at the time, My older sister was 12, and I was 5 and we were living in the Bronx NYC. I remember that after we all finished opening our presents, we went over to the tv in the bedroom me and my older sister shared to hook up the dreamcast and see it live for the first time. He played through Emerald Coast in Sonic Adventure and we were all amazed. There were other games he got / rented as a kid like Power Stone and Shenmue. There were days when my older brother and sister were at school, and I was home all day with our Mother. I would just pop in the Dreamcast and fool around in Sonic Adventure as Tails. I bought a Dreamcast again myself in 2015 off ebay. It was a shock with how small the system is and how loud it was to load a game. For a while my older brother and I would go out to retro gaming stores and collect for it. For his birthday, I bought Shenmue and I just let that intro run on repeat until he came into the living room and I could surprise him. We played through Shenmue and laughed at the horrible voice acting… lol. My Brother wondered how it never stood out to him until now. My brother owns it now since he cares for it more than I do. I’m more into emulating. I actually have a portable emulation machine.
I remember both Christmas' when my siblings and I got the gamecube and PS2, each of us got a game and we'd be playing it all day. Memories like those always stick with you. Also yeah it's always funny looking back at old games thinking how we grew up with them. Shenmue voice acting I've seen online, it does have a charm to it haha.
Just after watching this, the dreamcast anniversary happened. Then THE DAY AFTER I found one in a box in my attic with accessories, and a copy of sonic adventure. Its like it's thinking or something.... WAIT
This vid was cool! Love the Dreamcast. A couple of games you should try out is Jet Set Radio (or Jet Grind Radio for NA), Sonic Adventure 2, Power Stone, Crazy Taxi, and Chu-Chu Rocket!
I wanted to recommend him the same. Also Rayman 2 and Toy Story 2. They are great platformers. And maybe Shenmue because that has a cult following. And Sonic Shuffle as well because that game is console locked and i think despite how hard the game is its very overhated. I did complete it 99.99%(one mini event missing) with a japanese copy that only had japanese texts. Visually espically the CG cutscenes the game was beautiful for its time.
I remembered playing Toy Story 2 on PS1, so good. There are so many games people recommended, Sonic Shuffle I do plan to grab to play with friends, I know not many people like it but as long as me and the guys have a fun time then it's all good.
I got mine back in 2022. Got both Sonic adventure games, Sonic Shuffle, Godzilla Generations, House of the dead 2, Charge n' blast, Phantasy star online & Shenmue. I love it!
When shopping for a rumble pack remember the 3rd party "high performance" work way better than the OEM brand. Thanks for appreciating and preserving this retro piece of history.
really nice video! i love it when youtube recommends me stuff from smaller channels, especially for stuff like this. i myself want to get this console at one point, but i don’t have enough space at the moment 😅 (btw this is just a nitpick but please don’t stretch your Dreamcast footage to 16:9, it hurts me to see that 😭)
Glad you were able to get it to read the disk. Worst case, you'll have to open the console and adjust the laser. I had to do it with one of my Dreamcasts. There are guides online for how to do it.
dreamcast is my 2nd favorite console of all time right behind the ps2. theres such a huge rabbit hole of dreamcast gimmicks that can only be experienced on real hardware too. stuff like the bleemcast emulator, the multitude of vmu minigames, the secret bios menu, vga output support, etc. definitely make sure to get multiple memory cards because they dont have much space, or buy a dreamshell to backup your saves. my personal favorite game on dreamcast is skies of arcadia, a really incredible rpg. make sure you have a revision 0 or revision 1 dreamcast (which you can check on the bottom of the console) to see if your console can read burned cdrs because skies of arcadia is super expensive, or you can get a GDEMU if you have a revision 1 dreamcast but youll have to sacrifice your disc drive. i personally used the yzb rips for skies of arcadia when playing on cdrs
This is very relatable in a lot of ways, I remember my (spoiled) cousins having a Dreamcast with sonic in the late 90s and we had to leave the console running constantly to not lose save progress, I’m so glad I still have my original save files for my ps1 on memory cards. Someone remind me to rip and save them, especially Lunar !!
Man you make me feel old, I grew up with all of this stuff being born in the early 90s. Lol the fact that you describe the manual like some sort of ancient relic really shows your age 😂
Jet grind Radio would be a funky game to check out. Fun video! Also I think there is some way to hook up the Dreamcast to the Internet with a raspberry pie. Don't quote me on that.😅
Good to know: most of the Dreamcast library is compatible with native VGA and the results are quite stunning. If you can, ditch the composite cable and buy a VGA cable instead. AV Adapters like the one that you use in the video damages the image and can produce serious input lag so i think VGA should be the way if you play on a modern display. It's always nice to see newcomers for this fantastic machine, though !
You know what game grinds my gears? Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. The damn back cover explicitly states that it IS VGA box compatible, yet it is definitely not. And the cherry on top is that even running it as an iso on my gdemu system will only display the image squished into the lower horizontal half of the screen. I can only play my physical copy if I feel like hooking up the old a/v cables to one of my CRTs. Thankfully I didn't pay anywhere near the recent prices for it, but it's a stupid expensive shelf warmer.
So some recommendations are as follows: Crazy Taxi - nobrainer - one of best arcade games of all times! Resident Evil Code Veronica - really good classic Resident Evil game Illbleed - weird and wild horror game - it's crazy Sonic Adventure 2 is still great Skies of Arcadia - incredible JRPG for the system Grandia 2 - another JRPG banger, also for some reason non-DC versions are all buggy and have some issues. Dead or Alive 2 - great fighting game Metropolis Street Racer - a predecessor to Project Gotham Racing - really good racing title with highly detailed cars I think this is enough if you can find them.
Fun fact: there actually kind of IS a way to restore online functionality. The community has actually made a thing called “DreamPi” which has brought back online mutliplayer to certain Dreamcast games (although, it doesn’t restore all online features… like the special events for Sonic Adventure)
As someone who has experienced the gaming revolution in the 90's and the dawn of the 6th Gen consoles, I find your perspective quite interesting as you can talk about these things uninfluenced by nostalgia and still be excited about that era. Nice vid 🐯👍
I remember being the only person I knew who had one of these. I was starting my senior year in high school when it came out and I saved money each paycheck to get the Dreamcast, Sonic, Hydrothunder, and a VMU. I couldn’t believe the jump in graphics from the PS1/Saturn/N64 to the Dreamcast.
I recently dug up my old DC and I finally got all 130 emblems in SA1, I tell you what those big 2000g fish and the chao races were rather difficult, but they were fun. I can now say I can play the big stages like a pro now and my little kid version of myself would be so proud.
Virtua Tennis, Skies of Arcadia, and Quake 3 were some bangers. Phantasy Star Online was also a personal favorite but without internet not sure how good it'd be these days.
Congrats! Also bought mine just last month. IMO, Sonic Adventure DX was a huge downgrade in most everything and got a few more bugs too. Sonic lost the "fur" texture and got a very clean/plastic look on GameCube. Please do try Shenmue 1! The PAL version save file is compatible with Shenmue 2, too! (and has a 60hz option btw)
All the games were compatible with broad band adapter. I had it back in the day. Played Phnatasy Star Online mostly but also Bomberman Online, Alien Front Online, Quake and Unreal Tournament with the mouse and keyboard peripherals, and others. Good times. I want to go back
Nice video. As a kid that bought that console a year after it launched, I was marveled at the time with the graphics. I had seen some comercials on the tv, I had a cousin that had a PS1and you could see the jump in graphical fidelity. I'd say this period, 3rd gen (nes) to 6th gen(ps2) were the most incredible for consumers as the jumps in graphics and the size of games were balooming. It felt like witchcrafty. I grew with a megadrive/genesis and the jump to the ps1 was incredible for me. Me and my friends were always in awe while playing winning eleven and looking at those blocky polygons thinking: "My god, look that is indeed Roberto Carlos!". Them the jump to the dreamcast/ps2 was even crazier... I remember thinking we couldn´t get more real than what we had on the ps2. A point I would like to make because I find it fascinating is the following: Sega was in dire straits since the mid 90's thanks to the saturn. Looking at all the books, media and everything I could find in this strange hobby of mine, sega put itself into a costly corner based on marketing and edginess in the united states market. Consoles are already very costly to R&D and put into the market, but marketing is even more especially when you build your strategy the way sega did. They invested a lot of money thinking on recovering it with game sales but there weren't enough of it and when the ps2 launched in japan sega was basically bankrupt. Actually, were not for their president at the time, isao okawa, they would have gone under and probably be bought by microsoft and scrapped like rare was. Sega was never meant to launch the dreamcast, he wanted to bail out of the console industry during the megadrive era because of the cost. Yet when push came to shove, he financed the R&D of the dreamcast and did everything he could to make the console sucessful. Sadly, as stated, it didn´t work. He literally forgave the debt and gave back all the shares he had from sega, which amounted to more than 500 million dollars, soon after passing because of cancer. No joke, that move saved sega from bankrupcy. I am always impressed by the balls of sega to die trying than to fold and give up. Not financially responsible, but admirably badass.
If you'd like to learn more about the Dreamcast, I have a couple of videos on my channel already about it, if you're interested. I'm also currently working on a video dedicated to it, and it may turn out to be somewhere between 30 to 40 minutes long. I got into the system in 2013, and ever since then, it has been my favorite console of all time. Your video helped me feel a bit nostalgic, and brought me back to my first experiences with the system. I also had some growing pains, for sure, and have been through 3 or 4 systems now? Maybe more? I know the current one that I have though, I have had before Covid, I think. Back then, the system was only $50, if I can remember right. But yeah, the Dreamcast is truly amazing! Happy almost 25th Anniversary, Dreamcast!

I agree, VGA to a desktop monitor and a pair of decent stereo speakers is THE way to enjoy the Dreamcast.
@@Squiggy hell yeah, Crazy Taxi is amazing, it does take some time to get used to
thats a GREAT game! its funny.
Crazy Taxi is a banger
also available for the ps2
Power stone was one of the best fighting games for Dreamcast.
Tell me you were born in the 90s, without telling me you were born in the 90s.
“Sega had its own line of consoles ?!” …
I was born in the mid 2000s, and I knew that Sega originally made slot machines in Hawaii, then moved to Japan.
*Tell me you were born post 90s, without telling me you were born post 90's.
Games were 99 cents
Thank you!
55 for Sonic also is an absurd price….
If you’re into obscure fighting games, definitely try Power Stone. Definitely an underrated gem (pun intended) on the Dreamcast.
I Looved that game I still play it on my psp emulator
My God I'm only 32, youre making me feel ancient
😂 36 here, I got one foot in the grave with this video.
I bought a Dreamcast the first day it came out which was the first week I started highschool 😅
I bought a sega saturn in 2024. I love the console. If sega didn't fumble so hard it could've been able to properly compete with the ps1.
Yea they failed because of the dreamcast. The system had no security what so ever lmfao I would go to blockbuster rent a game and just copy it and play it on the dreamcast without any mods needed.
Sega just didn’t release the right games at the time for the saturn and they rushed everything.
The dreamcast will always be one of my favorite consoles of the early 2000's despite it being released in 1999. Till this day I still play it
I've had a Dreamcast since 2004, when I was 9.
Man you could've gotten a much better deal but at least you're happy with what you got.
I'd suggest Rayman 2 and Jet Set Radio.
The VMU was awesome, when playing football you could see your plays on it so that the other player didn’t know what was picked.
You gotta buy the mod that lets you play roms from an sd card, then you're set for life with all the games.
Don't forget resellers driving up prices artificially!
But I mean, going from 2019 to 2020, Dreamcast went from $25 to $100 real quick.
that why the best way to preserve games is piracy 🥰
@@CanalDaZoeiraBrasilthis man is spitting facts
I wish I had a Sega Dreamcast. I loved Sonic Adventure 1!
arrived here via parachute (recommendations), Dreamcast was so ahead of time... the problem is that not many people appreciated its full potential. it's so sad that SEGA wanted to spice things up, but it was at the wrong time.
I just started collecting for the Dreamcast about a year ago and some must haves in my opinion, soul caliber, crazy taxi 1 & 2,jet grind radio, phantasy star online, legacy of kain soul reaver there’s so many great games for the console
I can definitely see you going far in the future! Great video
I still have my old Dreamcast, controllers and VMUs I bought in the 90s with games 😊😊😊😊
Buy Shenmue 1 & 2, Zombie Revenge, Carrier, and MDK 2 very good games
Glad to see someone getting into the dreamcast love your video and recommend the game jet grind radio.
Dude you're so underrated. You should totally try sonic adventure 2
There’s a number on the bottom of the console. If it says 1, you can play burned games. His has a 1
Love the dreamcast! Got one in 2009 and still play it!
Games to recommend:
Jet Grind Radio
Army Men Sarge's Heroes
Tech Romancer
Plasma Sword
Power Stone 1&2
Crazy Taxi
Spider-Man
Soul Calibur
Jojo's Bizzare Adventure
Spawn In The Demon's Hand
Sword Of The Berserk Gut's Rage
Resident Evil Code Veronica
Two Dreamcast Games I can highly recommend are Fur Fighters and Toy Commander. They’re both very fun but also fairly common games on the system so you should be able to get your hands on them fairly easily (AtLeast thats the case here in the UK)
Fur Fighters - is a mix of a Banjo-Kazooie style collectathon with a third person shooter.
I will never forget playing Sonic Adventure for the first time, hope it works out for you and the console brings you many years of joy!
i did too actually! for my birthday on the 12th i bought it along with Sonic Adventure Limited Edition, a copy of the game exclusively for blockbuster and let ne tell you it was worth every penny!🎉
thanks for showimg love for the dream cast the dreamcast is awsome you allways find something new that is just crazy and awsome
WAIT
Like it turned 25 the day before I found it.
@@Squiggy definitely get VMU-s for Sonic Shuffle multiplayer because you can only see the cards in your vmu monitor screen.😁
Thanks for appreciating and preserving this retro piece of history.
really nice video! i love it when youtube recommends me stuff from smaller channels, especially for stuff like this.
i myself want to get this console at one point, but i don’t have enough space at the moment 😅
(btw this is just a nitpick but please don’t stretch your Dreamcast footage to 16:9, it hurts me to see that 😭)
Gonna be honest, I noticed it after recording, I think it was because a setting in elgato, I'll make sure to fix it next time.
Glad you were able to get it to read the disk. Worst case, you'll have to open the console and adjust the laser. I had to do it with one of my Dreamcasts. There are guides online for how to do it.
Great video. The title and thumbnail had my interest but the video now has my attention and subscription keep up the hood work
dreamcast is my 2nd favorite console of all time right behind the ps2. theres such a huge rabbit hole of dreamcast gimmicks that can only be experienced on real hardware too. stuff like the bleemcast emulator, the multitude of vmu minigames, the secret bios menu, vga output support, etc. definitely make sure to get multiple memory cards because they dont have much space, or buy a dreamshell to backup your saves. my personal favorite game on dreamcast is skies of arcadia, a really incredible rpg. make sure you have a revision 0 or revision 1 dreamcast (which you can check on the bottom of the console) to see if your console can read burned cdrs because skies of arcadia is super expensive, or you can get a GDEMU if you have a revision 1 dreamcast but youll have to sacrifice your disc drive. i personally used the yzb rips for skies of arcadia when playing on cdrs
0:47 ayo Miracle Piano Lets Play when?? Lol also great video!! This was a really well informed video and I got to learn a lot about the Dreamcast! 😄
Sad thing is I don't think I have that piano anymore :( I would've loved to do a video on that thing now.
@@Squiggy 🥲 maybe some day in the future who knows!
Don't quote me on that.😅
Nobody I knew played original games on the Dreamcast. Pirates galore
So some recommendations are as follows:
Crazy Taxi - nobrainer - one of best arcade games of all times!
Resident Evil Code Veronica - really good classic Resident Evil game
Illbleed - weird and wild horror game - it's crazy
Sonic Adventure 2 is still great
Skies of Arcadia - incredible JRPG for the system
Grandia 2 - another JRPG banger, also for some reason non-DC versions are all buggy and have some issues.
Dead or Alive 2 - great fighting game
Metropolis Street Racer - a predecessor to Project Gotham Racing - really good racing title with highly detailed cars
I think this is enough if you can find them.
Nice vid 🐯👍
I still have my Dreamcast. All my games, two controllers, my video memory unit thingy and memory cards with my original saves still on it.
A true classic never go's out of style
Ngl this is actually a cool piece of Sega history to have.
Honestly though, having retro consoles is really cool
This video makes me feel so old.
I'll keep an eye open on your dreamcast journey
$55 is a great price. After refurbished consoles hit the market all of the OG consoles like n64, Dreamcast, etc…, went from like $40 to $150-$200
I love seeing young folks' POV on retro consoles. Yeah, manuals were great
Definitely try Jet Set Radio
games i highly recommend, crazy taxi, jet grind radio, power stone, and virtua tennis, even the 2K NFL, and NBA series are recommended.
I oddly relate to this as I bought an original Xbox last year. My collection now is pretty big and I love it lol
Power stone is the best game on Dreamcast also the bass fishing is awseome
Content creators saying they were “surprised to learn” Sega made consoles are the moments I feel my age… 😩
Soul Calibur, Crazy Taxi, and Power Stone 2!
The Dreamcast is one of my favorite consoles the design is clean and the white is beautiful
I friggin love this channel dude, keep it up
I wasn't born in 1999 I was born in 2005 but the game still stuck with me then and that's why it is still one of the greatest Sonic titles of all time
For discs I recommend using water and hand soap, just make sure you dry it really really well with something soft so you don’t break your console
All the games were compatible with broad band adapter. I had it back in the day. Played Phnatasy Star Online mostly but also Bomberman Online, Alien Front Online, Quake and Unreal Tournament with the mouse and keyboard peripherals, and others. Good times. I want to go back
Samba de Amigo is a fun game that becomes even more fun if you get the maracas for it.
Dreamcast for $150 is crazy I remember buying mine for $60 at a game store bac in 2014
Exactly
Prices have gone up a lot in 10 years…
I just Hope that Sega will return to Bring another their New Console Game one day. I Don't lose hope
The way bro talks about the manual makes me feel like a fossil
I love the Dreamcast, some real bangers on the platform, but also some real good jank. D2 is some GOOD jank.
A point I would like to make because I find it fascinating is the following:
Sega was in dire straits since the mid 90's thanks to the saturn.
