Not sure it’s a sprint run, think it’s regular production. Pretty sure all the spyderco maxamet are regular production. They feel like sprint runs because the seem to come in pulses, they seemed to be made maybe once a year and run out often before they are made again.

I had this months for 3 months now and it's a great knife but the tip chipped on me when I accidently hit the Caesarstone kitchen countertop, granted it is very hard stone but I was really disappointed that Maxamet can be that brittle. Also the grind of the edge towards the tip is not perfect and looks different from one side to the other. However, all in all, it's a good knife and is pricey for now @ 237 dollars at all dealers. BTW, it sharpens easily on a diamond abrasive, no drama whatsoever. As far as for corrosion, I had it so immaculate so far by wiping the blade with WD40 Lanolin anti-corrosion after use and the blade looks great.

Maxamet is a great steel. Got the pm2, para 3, manix 2 lw, and native 5 in this steel and has been working out great for me. Just wish the grind was thinner because these in-between grinds aren't the best for me, either make it 25-30 thousands bte for hard use or make it 10-12 thousands bte for slicy blades. Also it's hard finding someone that knows their shit to do a regrind on Maxamet steel.

It's been a while but I know I got at least one tiny chip in the edge of my maxamet para 3 when first sharpening it but no problems with the sharpening since, think that might have been on the dmt course but not sure. Enjoyed the content, liked hearing about the knife, wish more of the resources/effort/cost of production knives could go into the thinner grinds.

Yeah it could’ve been something with your stone or maybe your edge was overheated from Spyderco. Thanks for watching
