I LOVE vintage skateboards.... I grew up in Hawaii and San Diego in the 70's Skateboarding was a way of life... We have bought and sold several through the years the best one was a 1970's G&S with Tracker Trucks and OJ wheels.... Sold it to VAN's the shoe company and they put it in there "history of Skateboarding" museum in South Korea... I miss that board LOL
Great video Nic! I am an old skate "Betty" as they called them back in the day! I have two vintage very rare boards, a fantastic 80's Santa Cruz Monster board and a 90's Zorlac Minor Threat Out of Step board! Love looking at all the vintage 80's boards from my skate punk days! 🤙👏
Thanks nic, would have never have thought about this and would have just walked past them on a car boot. Really is eye opening. Thank you for all the knowledge u have shared, u have changed my life from a stuck at home disabled mum, to one who now has her own little business & income, this past 9 months has opened my eyes! Thank u X
My son has been into skateboarding since he was 10 (he turned 28 yesterday). I have stacks of old boards in my house that he would buy, use, then replace once the lost their "pop". Need to go take a look at those!
Thanks. Great video Nic. Please make more videos like this one. I would very much appreciate it if you could please make a handful of videos about which clothing brands to look out for. There are many brands that sell for good money but most people have never heard of them. Brands such as Mambo Loud shirts, Aigle, Paul and shark (not Le Shark), Grenfell, Assos cycle jerses (not Asos) and many more. Also it is very useful to know which styles and materials sell well. For instance a Grenfell coat can be worth only £10 or it could be worth £50 or even £150 all depending on the colour and style. A video just about which jeans to pick up and which not to pick up would be very useful. Thanks you again for the video and for reading this message.
revive, blind, death wish, Personally love my enuff truck, theres independant truck (to advance for me) tensor trucks another fave venture trucks. element complete decs santa cruz stuff palace and alien workshop (no thanks) thunder trucks, fracture trucks. Rennner is a good beginner board for anyone starting btw. And omg I love my penny not gonna lie!! almost zero krooded omg theres so many and wheels pig spitfire and bones also baker, baker not recommended
As an avid skateboard collector I want to add that there are people flogging re-issues as originals and there are others making replicas and selling them as mint OG skateboards. It is a great market and fun to collect but be cautious.
do you think someone could make some cash flipping reissues on Ebay as the reissues they are? and do you think any old school reissues are worth buying and reselling?
great video nic tool me right back i had a penny board in the late 70's and a vision board in the 80's and i was still crap lol cheers for the memories
Oh cool - yeah don't get me wrong I wasn't really any good - I got pretty damn good at ollies and could jump over big stuff on flat ground but that was as far as it went really - happy days though... ramps scared the hell out of me LOL
I was really hoping you would have come across my Claus Grabke skateboard that I sold this year for £400. I remember buying it in the 80s for £40. During my research I found that if the decks are still in clingfilm they can command thousands at resale. Natas is SATAN backwards.
wow nice sale - yeah I remember him getting grief from skate companies and sponsors about his name but that was actually his mane - he couldn't help it LOL
Quick question nic. Where do you come up with the figures 40% + for pan Europe fba? Is that to cover fees etc? Wondering if most sellers use same as source price.
Neil Daniels I just came up with it - I know sellers with higher and lower % increases - try a figure and see how you get on... find what works for you
I think my second biggest score was finding a 1990's ltd Skull Skates skateboard in my local charity shop for £5. Flipped it for £300 to a guy in sweden. I wanted to keep it very badly .
Do you ever use facebook marketplace to source items? I've just started to experiment with reselling and had some good results especially with electronics.
Great Vid Nic. I was also a skater back in the 80's to early 1990's. I picked up at the start of the year a Powell Peralta Mike Mcgill with indy trucks and OJ wheels for £3 ay my local CB. Not sold it yet as want to keep it but when i looked at prices at the start of the year i should really sell it.
The vintage skateboards still go for a bomb even the newer ones sell for good money. Used to skate myself in my teenage years good times. Skateboarding is so popular all over the world especially america where they have many championships. The Tony Hawks series of games made skateboarding popular again in late 90's to early 2000's. Still a huge fan of skateboarding ect.
Nic & Andrea Hills Ah yea man they do so many amazing tricks. Skaters like Tony Hawk, Bob Burnquist, Bucky Lasek, Chad Muska, Geff Rowley, Nijah Houston, The guys at jackass lol, Steve Caballero, Eric Koston some who got me into skating in my teens and some i still watch now. I can just imagine you nic in yiur grunge period skating and that. People sometimes just put the boards in whatever condition up for show.
I used to skate back in the early nineties, and tried to get a new deck every 6 months or so just for the graphics. I sold most of my them to my friends at the time after I'd finished with them. I remember the last board I had was a Plan B Rick Howard, which I sold to a friend of my brothers for about a tenner 20 years ago. It doesn't surprise me in some ways that there is so much money in them, though. Similar to retro video games, people want to own them for the nostalgia, and because they're not made anymore they've become rare. Supply and demand I guess. Anyway, nice video, Nic. Just wondered if you used to read RAD magazine back in the day?
Yeah, unfortunately all my copies got thrown away at some point. I wish i'd have kept them, and with all the decks, trucks and wheels that I'd had I'd have made a few hundred pounds. I also looked on ebay at the Panini football sticker albums I used to own. I had a Mexico 86 album which was nearly complete and those can go for around £120 in good condition, but that was thrown away at some point as well. I wish I'd have seen the potential in all these things when I was younger and I'd have ended up making a decent amount of money, but who could've foreseen the internet, ebay etc and the market for these things in the future.
My youngest son thought nothing of spending £30 on a skateboard... use it and snap it in half within the first hour of using it. What a waste of money lol..... i could buy gorgeous fabric with that hahaha. Nice video though Nic... and omg those prices!!! xx
I've been looking for years to pick up an old Santa Cruz or Powell skateboard or deck from the booter but no joy! I've got a few of the classic films from Bones Brigade and Shackle Me Not. Quality!
Awesome - I've never found any decent ones to resell - i picked a cheap board up from the boot sale to skate back around 2000 but it was cheap crap and I got rid of it...
The popular late 1980's boards sold new for $100 - $150 which is about $260+ in 2022 value.....Many 2022 new name brand boards of similar style are selling for $100 -$300..... So I guesstimate an old late 80's board in good rideable condition is at least worth $100 to $300.....I have a G&S Chris Miller blue board with a snake on it from late 80's or early 90's in decent condition. I'm gonna sell it and my cracked Vision/Alva board for what I feel is a low asking price.
omg the razor tail rip to the pop or lack of that would be in that deck, my revive deck cost £50 alone I got a blind deck to dont like that so much the concaves good but pops not very crisp, gosh I need to find the balls to skate again instead of just crusing round took a bad fall trying to ollie well rolling still got the scar xD
I held onto a brand new Antwuan Dixon board for death wish where he is a smurf crip and then after 9 years skated it for a couple days. What an idiot, it wud have been 600 or 700 for it.

Oh wow that is an amazing story - so cool that you found an actual museum piece!

Hi Becca, wow - so glad to have helped inspire you, so happy you are enjoying reselling, :)
My son has been into skateboarding since he was 10 (he turned 28 yesterday). I have stacks of old boards in my house that he would buy, use, then replace once the lost their "pop". Need to go take a look at those!
Yes!! take a look, you may have some gems :)

Clothing is not my thing really - maybe Andrea will make something like that sometime :)
That would be great if she did nic x

Ouch!!
I have two skate boards. One is from the 60's. Got right after I heard Sidewalk Surfing by Jam and Dead.
Wow who knew?! Shall defo keep an eye out for these!
Even re-issues from a few years back are making good money now.
I was really hoping you would have come across my Claus Grabke skateboard that I sold this year for £400. I remember buying it in the 80s for £40. During my research I found that if the decks are still in clingfilm they can command thousands at resale. Natas is SATAN backwards.

Nic & Andrea Hills thanks. I suppose prices go up at Xmas anyway. It's mostly Germany and France where I have better sales
I think my second biggest score was finding a 1990's ltd Skull Skates skateboard in my local charity shop for £5. Flipped it for £300 to a guy in sweden. I wanted to keep it very badly .
Oh wow - what a find !!! that is amazing!
Do you ever use facebook marketplace to source items? I've just started to experiment with reselling and had some good results especially with electronics.
Yes I picked up a keyboard the other day from facebook :)
Great Vid Nic. I was also a skater back in the 80's to early 1990's. I picked up at the start of the year a Powell Peralta Mike Mcgill with indy trucks and OJ wheels for £3 ay my local CB. Blimey what a find for £3... !
Great video Nic thank you 👍
I bought a 1989 zorlac Metallica deck with pusshead artwork from eBay in about 2000 . Awesome pieces of art.
Yes many are bought to hang on the wall as pieces of art :) there are some amazing videos on youtube by skateboard collectors :)

yeah I am still a fan - I watch so many skating videos on youtube, it's amazing what the pros are doing these days!!
Nic & Andrea Hills Ah yea man they do so many amazing tricks. Nijah Houston is amazing - for me nobody touches Rodney Mullen... he created most of the tricks that street skating is based on... Amazing talent
Nic & Andrea Hills Ah Rodney Mullen what a guy the trick speciallist. Love street skating.
me too - can watch street skating videos for hours!!
The Best offer was taken for 2283.19 pounds for the Louis V Deck. I looked it up on the watchcount site
holy cow... insane

Andygb78 yes I used to read Rad magazine back in he day - ive looked at those on eBay too recently :)

Vintage skating has it's own catagory.
What can i do for choosing skateboard on ebay
My youngest son thought nothing of spending £30 on a skateboard... use it and snap it in half within the first hour of using it. What a waste of money lol..... i could buy gorgeous fabric with that hahaha. Nice video though Nic... and omg those prices!!! xx
Yeah - mine never lasted too long either :)
I've been looking for years to pick up an old Santa Cruz or Powell skateboard or deck from the booter but no joy!
