I can't believe they didn't even clean up the spiderwebs at 5:09! LOL. I sold some really damaged 60s ones a few years back. My brothers were skaters growing up; my family filled our backyard with a half-pipe. Cool video, Scott!
Great stuff. I have about 150 OG NOS 1985-1989 skateboards… today that’s in the $120,000 USD range. One single deck has offers of $20,000+ USD for it;)
@@TheChaChingKing it’s crazy! I did just recently buy a Santa Cruz at the thrift for $13 and sold it for $550. I have zero video and only the product pics. Coulda have made a good story but I haven’t learned to film everything yet!
Thanks for the great video. I just found a vision animal skins skateboard while helping my friend move today she gave it to me. I don’t know whether to tell her how valuable it probably is!
Most resellers pass on skateboards because they’re intimidated by the shipping aspect. After I sold a vintage Santa Cruz deck for $1250 and had to make a franken-box for it, I bought a bulk-load of perfectly sized boxes from U-Line (I think they’re even called skateboard shipping boxes), and have been enjoying flipping them with ease ever since.
I have sold a handful of boards, but never one as good as your Santa Cruz. I'm with you, though. Once you have the right box, they are simple to ship. I'm always watching for them now
I love the term "anti-skid tape".. AKA- grip tape. "Hosoi" is pronounced, "Ha-soy". I've been skating for 25+ years and never really realized skateboards could be worth so much until recently. Interesting stuff.
I started researching and doing my homework. I picked up a mint condition 1975 deck for under $100 with all original parts. Definitely a keeper and will not let go until I am too old to skate.
I found a few sold comparable skateboards. They don't come up much. But they also don't have a crazy high value. That said, I only found one of them that has sold since 2012. It went for $55 but had a cracked truck and some condition issues. Depending on condition, it could be worth quite a bit more.
I’ve seen some at garage sales but they look recent. I’ll keep my eyes peeled at estate sales where I’d think the older ones might be ✅ old metal wheels, skull 💀 snakes 🐍 graphics 👍 so if the wheels are broken off, depends on graphics if it will still sell 😲
You are WAY outside of my area of expertise. Coming up with potential comparable price points for something like that would require a lot of time and research.
Those are the vintage padded ones, right? If I'm thinking of the right boats, they have great resale value. They range from $150-$500 or more depending on the condition.
@@TheChaChingKinghey Scott, thanks for the reply. Ya it’s padded. I’ve the Green padded surface one. I know they came in padded gold and I think one other color. I’m almost 70, new to technology but could attempt to send you some pictures if you like. I’m considering selling it. Thanks.
If the condition is good at least a few hundred to a thousand or two per deck. Not so many survived through the years. The more rare the better as well or limited.
Great content, thank you! Question?? How would you know the age of the board and/or if it was a reissue or not? Just asking in case I come across one 🤞
Great question because there are some reissued boards. It's going to come down to the details. Fortunately, a lot of the makers actually mark them as a reissue. If I suspected a board was a reissue, I'd turn to Google. I'd try to find out if the even made a reissued board. Then, I'd try to find a source for which details on that specific board I needed to look at. Additionally, whatever details distinguish the original from the reissue become my key photos when I list it. That way the buyers can also tell which board I have.
The vintage decks will be worth a fortune soon is my prediction. Everyone is playing hot potato and eventually the music will stop. I'm holding on to my 1975 Roller Derby skateboard. Cheers 🍻
My younger brother abandoned a dozen old boards with steel wheels. I thought I was wasting space by saving all 13 decks and "rusty steel wheels.. He's pissed as they are mine now..
Stay away from anything that is Nash or Veraflex from the 80s if you want to flip. Stuff from the 60s-70s doesn't matter which brand really as long as it's not plastic. Pro decks of the 80s can really sell a good mint.
Ho-soy as in Christian Hosoi. He got tossed in jail for selling dope. His crap showed up at a local swapmeet about 25 years ago when that happened. I was fortunate enough to purchase alot of it.
How many of you had a skateboard that might have made this list?
I have 150 that makes this list and way above it
I just found out I have a super rare board with no drill holes new condition just don't no how to sell or how much it's worth
At 7:23 in the video I found this exact same board with trucks and wheels at a garage sale for $10 !!!😂 Hope I get 300 for mine!

LOL I never had a skateboard. I probably shouldn't take up the sport now
Hi CCK, thank you so much for your kind words, and for sharing your knowledge. Looking good on that board, love it
Ha ha ha! Thanks!

Oh my! What an incredible collection!
Would love to see pics of that 20k board you have
Amazing! What a great collectible item. Thank you for the info.
I appreciate your positivity!
Ohhhh myyyy on the red tires!!!!!! 💰
I know, right?!
Had a blue plastic skateboard in the 80s and rode the crap out of it. My grandpa bought it for me, likely at local department store.
I think that's why people are buying them. It's as much sentimentality as it is the item. It's that way for a lot of vintage things, in my opinion.
Unbelievable! I'll certainly be looking for skateboards from now on.
They are worth looking for!
Lots of fun skateboard sales in this video. Amazing sales at the end
I would have never guessed a board could bring 5k...much less 15k!

Thank you so much for the awesome feedback!
My first skate board was a 2x4 and a roller skate that I had nailed to it. It only rolled downhill, lol!
I can totally picture it. How many kids did exactly the same thing? Lol
I have a 1970,s aluminum hang 10, I need to sell it, I even have original trucks and wheels
i have two Tony Alva boards and still have my Woodflex board. I cant find anything on the woodflex.

It's just crazy what some of these bring. Even the lower dollar ones like the ones I had sell SOOOO fast.
I have a vintage 60's all original parts continental mark V great shape please can u tell me in your expert opinion what it could get if I sold it????

I have the og santa cruz hosoi picasso pink from the late 80s in my garage... are they worth much?
Depending on the condition, I'd guess at least a couple of hundred bucks. Could be more.

I sold my mint, green, 1981 Powell Peralta, Mike McGill Jet-fighter board in 2005 for about $900 on EBay.
Nice! Better board than I've ever found
Now that’s worth $10-20k

Do some homework and research. Try to buy mint condition or close to mint.
That red board w/skull and snake board looks like it has a Mike McGill autograph...
