The ending of this duel was one of the greatest things I've seen in Yugioh. Jaden and Zane pushing their monsters to ludicrous numbers in the tens, twenties, and even THIRTY thousands was one of the most hype things I ever saw.
And that's on top of the emotional fulfillment of this scene. Zane showing Jaden respect and passing the torch, both characters' pure joy of just dueling, and the laughter they both shared while lying on their backs after a duel well fought. Like I expect Jaden do do that, but seeing the always serious Zane do it as well was just the cherry on top. What a perfect way to end the season!

I never understand the " The Academy will see you're a fraud!" line from Zane. Comes right out of nowhere.
That's out of nowhere, and is almost as weird as in Part 1, where on his first turn, Zane uses Polymerization and his three Cyber Dragons, and Alexis goes "wOw hE's gOoD" like he just did something crazy skillful.
@@jamessinclair6113 I think its translation error. Recently I have been rewatching original yugioh, and the dub has so many weird lines that make no sense. I googled it and apparently they often made cuts to anime after actors dubbed it, during the last second edits, and someone that worked on the show claimed that some of those edits were made minutes before they had to submit the episode to the network.

My friend, the gx character, and most main yu gi oh character, have a incredible power call plot armor. Some yugioh player have studied this strange ability that allow the users to pull anything out of their ass, but with no luck.

In the final turn? Zane and Jaiden both take 57,800 damage to their life points.
The numbers on that final turn were insane: 20900 ATK Shining Flare Wingman vs 36900 ATK Cyber End Dragon, then both players take a whopping 57800 Effect Damage due to Final Fusion, forcing a Draw. This duel was legendary.
Yep, a score that remained unsurpassed for 2 whole series until Zexal's OP final villain introduced a monster with 100,000 ATK.
If either one of them had the quick-play spell Ring Of Protection to negate the Effect Damage but both characters don't have that card in there respective decks

It's kinda sad seeing Zane laugh here knowing he gets tricked into believing all good friends abandoned him only a handful of episodes later
If you mean his loss to Aster and how he starts going downhill for awhile until he becomes Dark Zane it wasn't that he thought his friends abandoned him it was more his ideals of being a good sport and showing respect to your opponent that were reversed

that never made sense to me he graduated and left the island what did he expect they would all go with him and not graduate lol
Zane's entire self-confidence was built on being #1, the guy who never loses. Once he graduated he found out how much harder the Pro League is and kept losing. Without that respect he felt like he had nothing, having become addicted to the feel of victory, becoming desperate to get it back.
And Zane seemed very much the loner type imo not having any friends or even acquaintances outside of the gang at duel academy. Thing I guess you could say is they didn't check on eachother after Zane left duel academy. Phone calls between eachother. But Zane doesn't seem like the type of person to do that. You could say Syrus could have called him as he was concerned about him but would Zane have appreciated it?

Atticus constantly teasing Alexis about her relationship with Jaden was hilarious in the dub, even though it's actually not present in the sub. You know the dub were really having a blast acting this.

I've always been a big fan of Zane and his decks. His Cyber monster that he used in season 1 can uses a retrain version.
Have you seen the extra cards for it? Cyber dragon core, Herz and Pharos not to mention xyz like cyber dragon nova and cyber dragon infinity

Both season 2 and 3 were legendary season 2 finale was Jayden beating sartorius and season s3 was Jayden beating yubel and freeing his friends from the Star prison aka I sent them to the stars and he saved the world then we got s4 the finale season where Jayden saved the world from darkness and married Alexis
I never watched GX and beyond like I did the original series but watching these duels against the top duelist in the show is so satisfying.
For sure! The original series was my childhood. But I did catch a few episodes of gx. After gx thing kinda fell off for me though. I ended up losing all my cards and all my friends that I had played with stopped playing. So I didn't have much of a reason to continue. I might go back and watch gx though. Yu-Gi-Oh was legendary

Fun fact: This duel was planned to be the end of yugioh GX and the whole yugioh anime franchise that's why it is too damn good.
Also due to Jaden's increasing popularity as well as the Hero archetype they decided to continue and give GX a second season.

Fun fact : If jaden would add wildheart to his hand instead of burst lady (with fusion recovery ) , he could summon both shinig flame wingman and wildheart , then after SFW destroys Cyber End , jaden could win with wildheart's direct attack
In 2006 when I saw this episode for the 1st time I legit thought jaden was gonna beat Zane when I saw that he summoned his shining flare wingman but Zane saved himself

Frankly, it was a problem the show had with a lot of its side characters but it hurts so much more with Zane because he was the only character in the same league as Jaden and had a unique role in the show.

In the next episodes Jaden was about to get crushed by Yubel but he convinced her by "talk no jutsu". After season 2, Zane has improved a lot. He is better than Jaden as we all see

i always loved Zanes Deck the cyber dragons were like the up graded blue eyes

They change some of the cards abilities too. Really bubbleman doesn’t allow you to draw 2 cards unless he’s the only card in your field as well as your hand, but in the anime they say he only needs to be the only card in your field
@@sin6736 they change effects when they add the card to the actual game, most cards in the anime have op effects but in the real game they just have one part of said effect.

Usually I hate when writers cop out by refusing to have a clear winner between two characters presented as both being at the top of their game. But I'll make an exception here simply because this was a sweet duel.

For almost 8 years, "Cyber End Dragon" held the record for the highest achieved finite ATK in the series in this episode. This record was broken with the airing of episode 98 of the Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL anime, where "Number C39: Utopia Ray V" and "Number 104: Masquerade" achieved 83200 and 41700 ATK respectively, both topping Cyber End Dragon's record of 36900 ATK in this episode

The thing that I really love about the Yu-Gi-Oh fandom and community is that the people that were watching over a year ago or since season one actually released they’re probably still watching Vrains and rewatching GX. I actually walked in on a friend who claimed that they stopped watching Yu-Gi-Oh over a year ago actually watching and rewatching Vrains, GX, and just the traditional Yu-Gi-Oh

In a way, Jaden and Zane’s decks are very similar. Both are designed around fusion, but while Zane’s deck revolves around the Cyber End Dragon, Jaden’s revolves around the entire hero archetype
Good observation, both fusions but with different styles. Zane is all about overwhelming with pure power and perfect play while Jaden is all about combos and bringing out the full potential of his deck.
An amazing way to end season one and the chances of both of then drawing battle fusion is so rare
he really liked jaden out of all the students, since in there first duel he came close to beating him
Amazing how patient Zane was while Jaden scarfed down his grub.

Instead of using Final Fusion, all Jaden had to do was activate a card that ended the battle phase. Zane would have taken 4000 points of damage from Power Bond and lost the duel 🤷🏾♂️
