In regards to the transgender issue of this movie, i dont think it should be an issue as peter was not transgender, but a boy, forced unwillingly to be raised as angela.
@@NorwegianForestCatboy That's not what the movie implies, Peter isn't being "forced to live as the wrong gender," Peter is being forced to live as his dead sister after an incredibly traumatic accident that killed her and their father and evidently resulted in head trauma. Then, he is forced to go on "vacation" to the same environment in which said accident occurred, and is exposed to the same type of behavior that caused it; namely irresponsible teens at camp.

That is what I took away from the scene when I being to understand what being trans meant and thus, understanding what that scene meant. That is why Angela chooses to get gender reassignment surgery between the first film and the second one. Douglas Freer bruh... I don’t get why people are asking this? It’s simple... a guy was forced to live on as his dead sister by his aunt who then forced him to go back to the place that created his trauma which in turn made him go crazy. It’s suppose to be a twist not a well thought out “is this LGBTQ representation?” Even if it was would you really want to be represented as a psychopath?
“Eat shit and live, Bill.” It’s just amazing. I used to say that a lot to my friends and they never understood. I just loved seeing the confusion on their faces.
@@AhegaooPrincess Seriously man, Keanu Reeves is incredible. I've been hearing cool stories about him all month, and if he's not an immortal like many want to believe, he might be an angel.
I really think it's important that people keep in mind that psychotic characters forced to be girls/boys by their parents are *not* transgender. Comparing the two is what causes the issues and conflates the two. One is a part of who you are. The other is a mental breakdown forced on you by horrible parents. The same goes for characters like Buffalo Bill from Silence of the Lambs. He's not transgender, he's a psychopath that murders people.
Trans person here (if the pfp isn’t obvious enough), I never had a problem with this movie either. And it was never meant to be harmful, just a unique twist, and I think it’s great
hi, also trans. I'm glad this movie didn't negatively affect you. the ending genuinely made me sick to my stomach. I wrote my English thesis on transsexualism in the horror genre, here is the excerpt that I feel best explains my feelings. "The audience is told Angela is not transgender, that this choice was made for her, and yet, none doesn't make the final image of the film less tasteless to watch; Angela, nude, covered in the blood of a boy she seduced and decapitated, showing a film once again putting transsexual bodies on display as grotesque and disgusting. The disgust the audience is meant to feel at a “mutilated” trans body triumphs the horror of the rest of the film, making the greatest horror of the film not the murder and assault, but rather the transsexual body. When found, having just murdered on of the other camper, the exclamation made by the counsellors who find her is nothing to do with the violence, but rather, a disgusted and frightened: “My God, she's a boy.” @@mitzo4526
I’m cis, so feel free to take my opinion with a grain of salt, but I think the idea is that the kid snapped because he was being forced to live as the wrong gender. The movie is arguing that it’s abusive to try and make someone present as a gender they aren’t, using the example of a cis boy being forced to present as female. It would be just as bad to force, say, a trans girl to present as a boy.
@@phasmidian I agree wholely. Even if Peter isn't trans (I'm using his prefered name here; calling him Angela would be just as bad as deadnaming an actual transperson), the way his body is used as a cheap jumpscare and twist is still transphobic. Crazy how the counsellers where more freaked by the girl penis then the LITERAL DECAPITATED HEAD.

Then, he is forced to go on "vacation" to the same environment in which said accident occurred, and is exposed to the same type of behavior that caused it; namely irresponsible teens at camp.
yeah, Peter being a murderer has little do to with his gender

I’m so glad James encouraged his viewers to watch this in its entirety before watching his kill count. I paused this when he suggested that, watched the movie and came back to this later. Excellent suggestion as it truly is batshit insane and deserves to be consumed from beginning to end. So glad I took his advice!
The flashback of the boy pointing at the girl is basically foreshadowing the twist. The boy is basically saying, “I am you,” as in Angela
That is what I took away from the scene when I being to understand what being trans meant and thus, understanding what that scene meant. That is why Angela chooses to get gender reassignment surgery between the first film and the second one. She was probably explaining to her sister and, maybe frustrated, pointed to her sister and said I'm a girl like you!
22:19 isn't that then child abuse from the crazy aunt because it was never stated that Peter wanted to be a girl when he was a child so it was forced upon by the aunt
Yes it would be considered child abuse
People force their children into roles like that nowadays and it seems fine.
@@reyruiz8484 its %100 not fine
That makes me question if this film really is a representation of LGBT since young Peter probably wasn’t trans and forced into acting like a girl
The way that Ricky delivers the line “Eat shit and live Bill” makes it 1000xs better then if he would’ve yelled it back
I love how absolutely ruthless Ricky is. An icon.
“Eat shit and live, Bill.” It’s just amazing. I used to say that a lot to my friends and they never understood. I just loved seeing the confusion on their faces.
"Eat a delicious french meal and have a wonderful life" oof sick burn
I always wondered why that facial expression was so strange and unblinking... Now I know. Thanks James!

When found, having just murdered on of the other camper, the exclamation made by the counsellors who find her is nothing to do with the violence, but rather, a disgusted and frightened: “My God, she's a boy.”
@@mitzo4526
I’m cis, so feel free to take my opinion with a grain of salt, but I think the idea is that the kid snapped because he was being forced to live as the wrong gender. The movie is arguing that it’s abusive to try and make someone present as a gender they aren’t, using the example of a cis boy being forced to present as female. It would be just as bad to force, say, a trans girl to present as a boy.
@@tsifirakiehl4250 i see your point, but due to the time it came out and the actual impact it had, i just can’t see it that way
@@phasmidian I agree wholely.

Judy's kill was so brutal even though it was offscreen, but the shadows on the wall told us
Saw a commenter on this kill count say they "wished they had shown Judy's kill since it was the only offscreen kill", which made me feel real uncomfortable since that person either didn't seem to understand why showing such a kill would be inappropriate now matter that age of the actress or her stand in, given where the kill is located OR wanted to see the kill for more disgusting reasons and was doing a bad job of hiding that that's what they wanted to see, the graphic depiction of a girl with a curling iron shoved up Judy's nether regions.
