I own the BigIR vertical and the steppir motors in both the EHU and the 80m coil unit sound exactly the same. It is normal as stepping motors work in literaly steps rather than lineal rolling motion. Hard to explain. Steppir are very technical but exceptional performers. Hard to find something that will work better to be honest.

Antennas should never have moving parts, I've heard of too many guys with motor issues. Every antenna has tradeoffs and this one is expensive. I get it, limited space, easy of use, I would rather use a hexbeam and a vertical for 40m. 6m yagis are small and light weight. This antenna violates the KISS rule.
I hope it works well for you.
