People stayed home because it was Hillary Clinton, and people didn't believe how bad Trump would be. He was literally unbelievably bad.
While I was definitely part of the problem in not voting in 2016, in my defense I HATED Hillary Clinton back then for a ton of reasons and barely even knew who Trump was besides a typical republican loser. Plus, wed just been through 4 years of Obama being completely stonewalled, so I assumed if he really was that bad we could just block him like they did us.
If Biden wins 2024 USA election and Trump again claims election fraud, then you Americans need to immediately call for the Washington DC police to protect Washington DC's security.

Being a two party system, the conservative are just trying to figure out where the new middle is and they will suffer until this little tiff they are having is over. On April 23, 2020 Biden was ahead in the national polls 48.3% to Trump's 42.4%. Since America still has an Electoral College you may want to break this down on a state by state basis. Polls are volatile. NEVER take these for granted.

I have been saying all along that Joe Biden would win PA by 5 pts or so. If the trials go badly for Trump I can see Biden getting an 8 to 10 point win.
This is good info and also please look at age demographics. Young voters heavily skew Dem in more of a margin than older voters skew Rep. More voters turn 18 everyday than older voters pass away. GOP is in a serious age demographic catastrophe.
I gotta say that as a 538 old timer, a lot of the election handicapping out here currently lacks a critical qualitative view of polling data and the way that people are ultimately breaking at the state level because after all it’s all about how people vote at the state level in presidential elections. Whereas LTE does use a qualitative view of the data which I really appreciate; the mix of polling data analysis with “yea but I don’t think that will hold because X party is fielding just a horrible candidate” is what’s missing in national media. LTE was right about Biden coming back in the polls once people are forced to pick a candidate. And that’s why I keep coming back to this channel since the 2020 election.

In 2022, California had a 12.5 % drop in turnout compared to 2018. The consequence of that was Newsom won by "only" 18% in 2022 instead of 24%, like in 2018. I other words, Dems can still win by huge margins in safe blue states, even with massively decreased turnout.
Turnout matters way more in the most competitive states.

Maybe you could help me with this. One of the things that I’m interested in is trying to figure out the actual mechanism that posters used to gather the data? What I’m trying to say is that if they do polls and it’s mostly phone calls and millennials are not known to really answer their phones if stuff like that could skew the results a little bit more. I can elaborate if you want, but that’s the gist of what I’m looking at.

I'm a first year Millennial. I've been around a while. Just for reference, The Pew Research Center dates the first year Millennial, 1981. Voting does matter; but the popular vote decides nothing. In America, the Electoral college decides. That is when your vote counts. Your vote tells the college what you want by majority votes. At least That is how I learned it. It is our civic duty to vote in November in person if possible.

Great videos - I just have one suggestion. I think it’s cool to show the margins of victory for each state on YAPms. For example, safe states for Biden and Trump, then likely, then lean, then tilt for the swing states

AZ will def go to the republicans ive looked at the voting registrations now compared to 2020 republicans have gained a massive amount of registered voters compared to 2020 i think this will edge out any blue haired liberals in AZ and on top of that if you didnt know it in 2020 due to covid 80% of the votes were cast as mail in balets i think that furthur helped skue the voter resualts considering the democrats lack of gains in voter registration compared to republicans and the lack of it being voter year like it was in covid...........i predict that republicans will win handily

@@davidseifert7372 Spending was relatively low and decreasing under trump until 2020 when covid happened. Objectively spending is way higher under biden, and most of that cannot be attributed to covid.
Crime rates are not dropping, violent crime is up, and it only seems like its dropping because a lot of states and police departments have stopped reporting crime stats to the FBI. You can look this up its well known.
If the difference was 44k votes, then a change on the part of 22,001 voters would have changed the outcome.
Pollsters and yourself always seem to miss this important distinction.
