So Gilmore Girls is a comfort series for me.. and I can tell you with the confidence of a person who can quote most episodes that Rory did NOT read all of these books. Whoever made this list took every reference from the dialogue that had a book even remotely attached to it. For example both Babe and the Shining are discussed as movies. Pinocchio is referenced in a line about taking deals with strings attached. So this challenge is really just about making people feel bad. I am tempted to make an actual Rory Gilmore challenge though that will just include the books that were read by her in the show.

I got 71, but more than half of those I had to read for school. This list is full of books from American schoolkid reading lists. Required reading is the only reason I think anyone has ever picked up A Separate Peace. 😂 I hope you do a read of Count of Monte Cristo! The length has always been daunting for me, but I've heard it's great.
Most of it is because of school/college. Now, I went to school in Finland, and we had our own books we had to read, and I don't have an English degree either 😀

Mom died fifteen years ago, but people who meet me still bring up the show whenever I tell them my name. Also, you should read The Crucible! I recommend the audiobook because it's a full cast and it's a play.
I read 63 books. My English degree saved me 😂. I read every Shakespeare play, so I got to check up all those. BUT, now I am intrigued- what is Gavin's Reading Challenge? What 100 books should we have read? And the Lottery is absolutely fantastic. It's one of my favorite short stories. And I would TOTALLY buddy read Count of Monte Cristo. That one's a chunky book, but it's supposed be so good!
Gavin please read Joy Luck Club. Omg it made me cry and was super emotional and moving. It is following four adult Asian women and their daughters who have a hard time understanding each other but the mothers'' share their stories about what they went through to make it to the states. The movie was AMAZING

I still remember us reading crime and punishment at school.. in russian😂 I was maybe 13-14 years old. I don’t remember a lot of what they made us read back then but I remember this one, it was rough😂

I loved this show so much when it came out but it always bugged me that she was only ever seen reading classics and what would have been school books in the US. Yeess, please read The Count of Monte Christo, as well as Anna Karenina. TCoMC is one of my favourite books and also started Anna Karenina and it's veryy promising so far. Ironically enough, Gilmore Girls spoiled the ending of Anna Karenina for me🥲
I LOVE Gilmore Girls and I didn't love Rory during my recent re-watch... it was a sad moment for me since I identified with her so closely as I grew up, but my partner pointed out that I turned into Lorelei as an adult. I'll take that as a win! xD Rory and I have very different taste in books so I think I've read like three or four of these!
I would love to see you read Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers. It's nonfiction but I thought it was really interesting and pretty funny at times.

I didn't know Whatever Happened to Baby Jane was a book either until this list/video. I LOVE the movie and have got to read that book now. I got 171 thanks to some of these being required reading in high school and college. However, most of these books are not the greatest or havent aged well, so I would not recommend most of the books on the list. This was such a fun video and challenge to try.
I've never watched Gilmore Girls, but I've read 37 of the books. I don't think that's too shabby for someone who is picky when it comes to classics (read most during my 2 college literature classes) and tends to read nonfiction more.
I've only read 25 of them and a good handful of those were assigned in my high school English classes. I graduated in 2016 and most of them I don't remember all that well- except the Awakening really stuck with me for some reason. I've also since re-read To Kill a Mockingbird and it is a 5 star read imo.

If you haven't read romance novel Mates by Sobers Rodrigues, you must include it to your TBR. it's such a beautiful love story with the correct proportion of intimacy.

I remember reading the da Vinci code in high school I didn’t know it was part of series . Favorite Poe poem the Raven . I’ve read Frankenstein multiple times. And dean koontz Frankenstein the complete series . Would recommend.
I've read 39 out of 339, so only 300 left to go lol. It was actually fun to see books I wouldn't have thought of to add to the TBR. I honestly won't try to finish all 339 because there are quite a few that don't interest me but still a great way to get out of my comfort zone.
Gilmore Girls was one of my childhood shows and it's still a comfort for me to this day, but dang Rory gives the vibes she'd judge you for reading general fiction, lol.

I made The Rory Gilmore challenge into a whole TBR on a spread sheat 😆. I had read 73 and I was horrified, but mainly because I knew almost every book. We were made to read A LOT of them in school. I have taken it upon me to read one off of her list every month going forward, this month is my first and I chose Dead souls by Nikolaj Gogol. It's actually really funny.
I've read 56, and there are at least 20 on there I have on my TBR, but also a lot of them I have zero interest in reading. Like Shakespeare (plays), I know it's basically blasphemy , but I don't think you should read plays, you should watch them be performed. I read a couple, and it's just so much better to watch them on stage! Or even watch a good movie adaptation which stays true to the original script.
Also, to be completely honest, I studied English Literature, and a lot of the classics mentioned in this list were required reading and I just sped through them for essays and exams and have retained basically nothing from them. I'm actually currently doing a classics (re)reading 'challenge' (I'm not a booktuber or anything, it's not a real challenge, just goals) because of this.
I got extremely alarmed by the number of "did not finished that" while reviewing the books. Some I couldn't remember if I just watch movies/plays nor if I properly read them so I didn't check them out and omg, I need to do the same challenge as you because my result sucks : 24 of 339 · 7%

Flowers for Algernon and The Lovely Bones were so heartbreaking. 💔 I didn't know that about Pinocchio- good grief!!! 🫢 I got 65 and a 19% (4 star) but so many I counted as read that I ended up getting 100 pages in and DNF'ing. Anna Karenina is a surprisingly readable book.
