1:00:02 GAVIN 😭 ugh, that is such an amazing compliment and makes me feel so good about the video. I’m glad some people seem to recognize that there are more than white girls on booktube. Like, I’m cool or whatever, but I’m not cooler than Jess Owens. I can tell you that for free.
i'm so jealous of how empty your gym is 😂 and omg the tension i felt waiting for you to read the thursday murder club after it came up hahaha i'm soo glad you enjoyed it! imo the second one is the best one in the series, so i hope you get to read it soon
I dont mind at all! I love to see all the slice of live stuff in your vlogs. That's my fave part about vlogs, to see what you did that week etc.❤ And the boys are adorable as usual😻
Congrats on keeping up with the fitness journey! I’m struggling to find the time to get back into the gym after starting a new job 😅 But somehow still find the time for booktube 🤫
tell me ur a nerd without telling me ur a nerd - spreadsheets for books - im here for this

I'm obsessed with these "read it or unhaul it" videos and your series is one of my favorites! I love how you also incorporate bits and pieces of your life and not only focus on the books you read.
Gavin if you enjoyed Rizzio, it's part of a series called Darkland Tales that asks Scottish authors to retell characters and moments from Scottish history! I think the latest one is Val McDermid writing about Lady Macbeth, and most of them are either novella or short novel length.
My favorite part of this series is that not only do non-project TBR books get attention, but it's also a great way to keep space open on your shelves for new books. I love these reading project vlogs more than unread unhauls, tbh. So not a failure at all for you to have episodes that aren't all embosses. Also, Ash and Tobu are the best. Love their shenanigans. (I also have a cat who loves to sleep under the bed covers. It's not possible to sit on my bed without checking for "kitty lumps" first, LOL.)
Yay! I love this series and long videos from you in general. This is perfect to watch while sipping on a cup of tea and working on my bullet journal for February. I'm sorry that you weren't feeling well. :( Thank you always for your videos, Gavin!
Loving the series! Knowing how to make your daily planner sheet color the cells in FOR YOU so you don't have to fuss with it is making my hands itch lmao. I really respect the commitment to such a detailed planner and schedule - I'm the type that would benefit a lot from it but it's not in the cards.
I'm so pleased you enjoyed The Thursday Murder Club! Those four pensioners are just lighting up my whole world atm, I did a reread and a first read of the most recent book. I'm so excited for book five later this year! Seeing you crushing it at the gym is giving me so much motivation to go too, which is much needed because January has not been kind to me lol. You're doing so well! PS Count The Hobbit 😉
Congrats on the progress with your trainer! You’re crushing it! I’m also so glad you liked The Thursday Murder Club! I just finished The Man Who Died Twice today, and it was great!
I was waiting patiently for you to pick up The Thursday Murder Club and the time has come! I was scared when you said he's laying thick that they're old people but I'm so happy you've enjoyed it. It's a comfort series and one of my favourites as well! This was such a successful Emboss or Toss vlog, nicely done Gav!
I loved Rizzio. I read it right after reading Three Fires by Mina, I really enjoyed her approach to history: no holds bar. And the books being short was nice too.
You have inspired me...I don't have an embosser but I am doing a read it or weed it. I need to let go the majority of my physical books because of space.
I've said it before, I'll say it again 😉 amazing back squats and clean and press! Crushing the sled-- I am so proud of you, having fun and staying consistent ❤💪
Feel the same way you did about Hera as I did about Ariadne by the same author so good luck if you read it… informative of the mythology but not entertaining 😭 Idk how Madeline did it but Circe felt so much more of a story than informational
I have not yet watched the full video, but I can´t help to already give a tip on the spreadsheet. Maybe it´s an idea to make a pivot table based on the Read, TBR*, TBR status thing. Jutst go to insert -> pivot table and add the status to show up in the pivot table. Now everytime you want to choose a new book to read, you can double tab the amount of TBR and it will give the full list of books with status TBR. Once you update the status in the main spreadsheet, you can also update the pivot table and it will update the amounts per status.
Honestly, I agree with you about V E SChwab's writing regarding A darker shade of magic trilogy. I read the first book in the beginning of my reading journey and I wasn't vibing with it 😭 it felt like a generic anime plot that I predicted everything and basically dnfed the whole trilogy so I feel like you're not gonna enjoy it as much either (esp since you already are predicting the same thing). HOWEVER!!!! I LOVE LOVE ADDIE LARUE! I loved most of it (sorry to everyone who likes Henry but i found him incredibly boring) so I feel like you would enjoy the writing there more. I'm still planning on reading the Vicious series because it's about villains and I loved the villain in Addie Larue, so hopefully, I'll like that series too. 😊
I'm glad I haven't picked up Hera yet xD it didn't really intrigue me but I did like all the other books by Jennifer Saint (I think Ariadne was my fave closely followed by Atalanta) but Hera was never really a character I wanted to know more about so your review helped me against buying it but I hope you give another book by her a try because I really think the others are way more interesting 😂❤️ Elektra wasn't 100% my vibe either because you follow three different characters and I didn't like all of them equally xD
Hey Gav, I know this might not be on your mind at all, but it's super dangerous to let people know where/when you're going to be somewhere, especially as a TH-camr. You might want to think about removing the B roll of the outside of your gym since you've already shared what time you go to the gym. There are a lot of crazies out there, and there have been incidents of authors assaulting book reviewers. Just something to think about, stay safe!
Yeah, it doesn't take much time to get strong when you start exercising. I need to get back in the gym but I have an issue with my ankle that is preventing me from walking well enough to go right now and I'm waiting for the idiot secretary of the doctor I need to see and she is not calling me to give me an appointment so I'm stuck and can't just start going to the gym anyway because I can fall when I'm alone and will not be able to find help to get back up before I need to get home lol ... Hoping to find help by March but right now I doubt that will happen. I think doctors' secretaries are nuts.
The way I was scarred when I heard Hera and Zeus are siblings?? Because aren't they married ?? Most of my Greek Mythology understanding is from Percy Jackson so...
Hera was my favorite book of last year but I wouldn't recommend it necessarily for anyone who wants to start reading Jenny Saint - Ariadne would be my recommendation for beginners! Hera's is a tricky story to write cause she cannot, in some ways, feel like a normal human cause she is a goddess and her story cannot have a regular, straight-forward plot cause it takes place over thousands and thousands of years. I loved the book whole-heartedly but I can understand why some people wouldn't vibe with it! I also have a feeling Hera might be a book more for hardcore mythology geeks.
I don't see tossing a book as a failure - it's not taking up space on a shelf and that's a win in my eyes.
You could do a special edition emboss or toss for your 25 to read in '25 books. Use a spinning wheel and read 5 of them or something similar.
Love this idea!
I'm 100% sure that Ash and Tobu are the happiest cats alive.

Loved your thumbnail on Katie's video. Also, all your special appearances 😂. I love this vlog, too! Love to see what you are reading.
I dont mind at all! I love to see all the slice of live stuff in your vlogs. That's my fave part about vlogs, to see what you did that week etc.❤
And the boys are adorable as usual😻
Wow, your work ethic! I feel like you never stop. I hope you're getting a chance to rest in iceland 😊
Look at you killing that workout!! Congrats on the PB!
Congrats on keeping up with the fitness journey!
I’m struggling to find the time to get back into the gym after starting a new job 😅
But somehow still find the time for booktube 🤫
For me I workout at home because there's no gym where I live plus I'm more comfortable at home
I LOVE seeing some of the behind the scenes planning. Your vlogging is on another level for me this year. Loving this content. ❤
Your cats are so cute omg and their fur is so shiny 😭 I love when they show up in vlogs 🩷
tell me ur a nerd without telling me ur a nerd - spreadsheets for books - im here for this

Gavin: "I don't know if you've ever seen Reign." Me: instant flashbacks to 2017 😳

love this series, i immediately clicked on it
I love your slice of life content !! so always happy to receive amongst your other vlogs
I love these vlog videos! There are so calming to watch ❤
I am so proud of you how well you are doing at the gym. You are smashing it 🤗🤗🤗
Yay! I love this series and long videos from you in general. This is perfect to watch while sipping on a cup of tea and working on my bullet journal for February. I'm sorry that you weren't feeling well. :( Thank you always for your videos, Gavin!
THANK YOU. The "Best of Booktubers" videos tend to feel more like "The Best of My Personal Friends Who Are The Same Demographic as Me."
I really love this series. 😊 and I also love the slice of life segments 😊
This was a vibe, love your long form videos

ANOTHER EPISODE OF EMBOSS OR TOSS!?! WOOOO
This series is sooooo satisfying 🫶
I luck forward to this video, love it, thanks Gav x
Love the title of this series. You're also inspiring me to keep training, thanks! :)
Hope your having lots of fun with Jade and the others🥰
Congrats on the progress with your trainer! You’re crushing it! I’m also so glad you liked The Thursday Murder Club! I just finished The Man Who Died Twice today, and it was great!
Clicked for Gavin, stayed for Ash & Toboo’s shenanigans ❤

Congrats on 98k!!!!

The 1975 song break was great! Loved the video
Killing it in the gym man!
Get well soon! So sad to hear you were feeling ill. Reading and laughter are great medicines. #AllyHelpGavin
I've read Ariadne and its definitely more narrative and low on the listing facts. I quite enjoyed
I've said it before, I'll say it again 😉 amazing back squats and clean and press! Crushing the sled-- I am so proud of you, having fun and staying consistent ❤💪
limboss is such a good name 😅
garlic soup! I had never tried it while sick before. It took me only 4 days to kick my cold eating it once or twice a day. Hope you're feeling better.
Feel the same way you did about Hera as I did about Ariadne by the same author so good luck if you read it… informative of the mythology but not entertaining 😭 Idk how Madeline did it but Circe felt so much more of a story than informational
You're doing so good in the gym!!! 26:46 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
I'm a bit of a spreadsheet nerd so I'd gladly help you make yours more manageable 😊
I have not yet watched the full video, but I can´t help to already give a tip on the spreadsheet. Maybe it´s an idea to make a pivot table based on the Read, TBR*, TBR status thing. I’m still waiting for Witch Hat Atelier 13 in the mail 😭 So I have to wait to watch the last two videos about it.
I also wasn’t a fan of hera but I loved Elektra by her!
the thursday murder club sounds a lot like a man on the inside on netflix! its funny and manages to be both lighthearted and heart wrenching
Seeing this come up as I lie in bed with a cold. ❤
Hell yeah The 1975 mention 🔥🔥🔥

Have you ever considered using notion for weekly planning instead of excel? I feel like that would be way more helpful
You should do part two of ‘10 pushups for every book that you haul’ and show off your gym progress
Gav, I know you were drinking a cup of coffee but it did look like you were drinking straight beans 😅😂
I was supposed to start ‘The Thursday Murder Club’ 2 years ago and if I finished it, I would’ve been ahead of Gavin on something.
Hey Gav, I know this might not be on your mind at all, but it's super dangerous to let people know where/when you're going to be somewhere, especially as a TH-camr. I wish I had the patience to put all my books in a spread sheet to do this kind of d of thing but omg I am so lazy…😅
I SCREAMED when the 1975 started playing
We had the fku last year it started like that then turned into a nightmare.
Filter it to only show tbr in that column Gavin! 2:49 😅

I DNF'd Ariadne for very similar reasons, and I hate that because I adore mythology retellings.
Gavin, I love you, but Mole is pronounced Mo-Lay. Lol.
1312 is my birthday hahaha
I also have some sickness happening. I feel fine, mostly. But I have a cough that sounds like a cats crinkle toy fighting for its life
Feed a cold and starve a fever. 🙂
Hi Gav where R U based
Sorry Gav ash and tobu stole the whole video with their fight lol
Definitely include The Hobbit.
The way I was scarred when I heard Hera and Zeus are siblings?? Because aren't they married ?? Most of my Greek Mythology understanding is from Percy Jackson so...
They are siblings....and are married. In Greek mythology, it's not considered a big deal among the gods and goddesses❤
Count the hobbit! 🇲🇽😊
Hera was my favorite book of last year but I wouldn't recommend it necessarily for anyone who wants to start reading Jenny Saint - Ariadne would be my recommendation for beginners!
