"China ball" honors China because this type of construction is incredibly cool and has influenced design around the world. Attribution is a GOOD thing, increasing respect. Thank you for the video - very helpful.
Thanks. Because of another video I excitedly bought a lantern maybe eight months ago but slide it out of the way unopened into my closet...and it has sat there ever since. Wasn't keen on poking multiple holes into the ceiling to accommodate seasonally rearranging my home office. So thanks for the 'Gia Ball' tips. No need for ceiling hook holes in every quadrant of the room. Subscribed!
Oh Gia, You just boosted my spirit! .THANK YOU🔥🔥🔥 fantaStiCA Futuristic idea with magic explanation has wrapped my way of working today and am still improving. Definitely liked the idea. Stay wealthy 💖
Hello from New York City! This is such a great advise. I am spending the last 1 1/2 watching through your videos. I am enjoying them a lot. Thanks your for sharing such a professional and cool content!
Gia, where have you been all my professional life??? So glad I found you this week and wanted to tell you our story. I am in a program called Nursepreneurs run by Catie Harris. Trust me when I say that NONE of us received any video training in nursing school! But as entrepreneurs, we have to get with it. I've watched a lot of tutorials but felt meh about most of them. Then-came-you. Now my whole group is all fired up watching your videos - the technical advice is great, but as women itching to expand our stamp on the world, we are blessed by your enthusiasm, compassion, and encouragement. Your little pep talk at the end of this video is just what I and my colleagues need to hear. So if you ever need a nurse, I know several who are indebted to you, including me!
This was great because I'm looking for something I can set up in my bedroom for personal video calls. (I have a very large bedroom with a desk area.) I happen to have those same bulbs for my softboxes, so I just have to get the cord and light shade. (I actually have some of those light shades too - but not that large.) I have softboxes - but I don't want to have to haul one up to my bedroom to make a quick video call to a friend. Thanks!
Thanks Kelvin that’s really kind of you! Did you also know that you name is one of the biggest aspects to lighting? You control the color temperature, how cool!
You are an excellent teacher, the way you explain things is easy to understand. Better still the concepts are easy to put into practice. I have watched a lot of other videos on lighting and yours are the easiest to follow. When you explain, it just clicks. When you explained the family of angles (different video) I was finally able to figure out how to get the glare off my glasses. I have only watched 3 of your videos so far and I understand lighting so much better than ever before. I just figured out why, it's because you explain from the point of view of how to light yourself instead of lighting a subject. For example when I'm lighting myself I have to worry about the family of angels before hand because everything is fixed. If I'm the shooter I can control the family of angels by moving the positions of the camera as I shoot. Most people explain as far as shadowing on the subject to get the most flattering view. You are the first person I have found that explained the science of the family of angels, that was key. I got so excited I tried it right away and I was quickly able to fix my problem after understanding those angels, with just small adjustments. I actually lowered the camera and moved closer to the light thus changing the angel enough to remove the glare on my glasses and keep the lighting flattering for the image quality. Fan for life, keep up the great work and approach
I’m in the beginning stages of starting my channel and want to thankyou! Your tips are AMAZING and your persona is enlightening, optimistic and REAL. Much love!!!
Gia, I just had to drop a comment about how much I love your videos. We had to move all of our classes online due to Covid and my students spent more time judging my appearance in their evaluations than the course. Your last minutes of this video actually made me tear up. None of us were prepared to teach everything online and just coming up with content was hard enough let alone the pressure of all the technology at home. Just know you made a difference in one life today
Gia, I so appreciate this video and all your helpful lessons and suggestions. Thanks, also, for the pep talk at the end of this video -- wouldn't have thought I needed it before but I appreciate the reminder that even wanting to me at my best is for me, not for anyone else on my video conferences who might not be trying or etc. The Self-Awareness Train is leaving the station! Whoo, Whoo. Cheers and continued success to you.
Love your tips and tricks. Have been sharing them with colleagues in all the lockdowns over the past year(s!). Nice to see how many of them pick it up so we can actually see each other on video calls 😉
Thank you so much for this, Gia! I've worked from home for almost 20 years, but have never had to use a webcam. I'm starting a new job soon and will need to use a webcam often. I wasn't sure how to get the best lighting so I watched this video and the previous one you did. Great tips! I may rearrange my office to face a window. If not, I'll just get a SAIL light. Thanks again!
Gia, holy guacamole I have learned so much from you these past couple of days. I don't even remember what I was watching yesterday, but YT recommended your video on posing for me and it's been a nonstop learning journey extravaganza to level up my lighting and presence skills & knowledge. Wildly in love and grateful. 🙏🏽
Hey, just want to say I appreciate you, what you're doing, and how you're doing it. I was never so self conscious before this zoom era because I'm a great person and it only takes a minute or less for people to feel that in person. Trying to have a personality in zoom is HARD. These tips you're giving are accessible, and allow me to have that bit of confidence so I can forget about what I look like and just do the thing. You're also making me think that doing a you tube channel for my boardgame shop is, in fact, possible. I just need the Gia Globe, filled with joy and love! LOL! Thanks. I look forward to more. (ps, I also love your authenticity in your vids. Squirrel! )
I just came across your channel from a co-worker and I'm loving your videos. I often find myself looking blue (queue Eiffel 65 music). I hope to try out your suggestions to look my best self. Thank you.
