I've not tested this in the game extensively, but for strikers I find moving into channels, beats offside trap, places shots, and likes to round keeper about the best combo you can get for an AF/P. In real life they definitely are the traits I try to coach into strikers. I've also found in my current save that a striker who isn't taught to either place shots, round the keeper, or chip the keeper, will score a lot less often against the keeper than one who has at least one of these traits. I have a young striker with decent finishing/composure/decisions who will only score on an empty net, because when he faces a keeper, it seems like he doesn't know what to do. He usually hits it straight at the keeper when 1 v 1. I agree that rounding the keeper is probably the best trait to train, but places shots increases the likelihood of a player putting it in the side net rather than at the keeper in my experience. I'm not sure if FM models this correctly but when I coach moving into channels to strikers, it's about staying between players to confuse them and force decisions rather than staying static for a defender to mark easily.
Tries Killer Balls is by far my favorite player trait. With Moves into Channels as my 2nd (for IWs, IFs, and Attacking CM roles)
I have been pairing those traits with passers and pacey players since fm 21 good chpice
Cracking job as always. Great to see you going from strength to strength after the FM Scout days and having the account hacked etc. Good luck Luke lad
In fm21, I'm using a 4411 with a CF(s) with "moves into channels" trait. Link this player with a AM(a) with "gets further forward" and "plays one-two's" traits and a W(a) with "likes to beat offside trap" trait, and you will be creating really nice attacking patterns trough the middle and right side off the pitch. On the left side, I have a WB(a) and a IW(s) with "likes to play way out of troube" on the left, a BBM with "arrives late in opponents area" to connect with WB(a) crosses into the box. If all these patterns fail, I have a DLP(d) with "killer balls", "swith ball to other flank" and "long range balls" where players can pass the ball to when the fast attacks fail.
Awesome video, nice insight into top tier traits! I admit, I often forget to even go through them!
I primarily like to play counter attacking styles and have found that getting my full/wingbacks to learn both tries long range passes and killer balls makes them play excellent angled early balls for my forwards. Starting fullbacks typically get me at least 10 assists each this way in addition to the normal crossing.
@@davidrichards613 yes, but I would rather a straighter ball to a striker than someone on the opposite wing. I just find that a fast striker is more likely to make a dangerous run behind the defense than a wide player is due to the typical attribute differences in off ball and anticipation.
Tip for a Newcastle or any other team with a large budget. I took Newcastle and bought players with a lower transfer fee added with a 3x yearly installment. Managed to buy the following players in my first season;
Hans Hateboer (2.6M-5.5M) - winter transfer
Amine Gouiri (10.5M-13M)
Renato Sanches (27M-13M)
Vitinha (20M-26M)
Oumar Solet (12M-15M)
Raphiha (34M-39M)
Dusan Vlahovic (47.5M-53M)
Andre Onana (12.5M-22.5M)
Nikola Milenkovic (21M-27M)
Pedro Concalves (30M-36.5M)
Goncalo Inacio (23.5M-29.5M)
R Guerreiro (30M-35M)
Ridle Baku (20M-25M)
Declan Rice (60M-87M)
Champions with 3 matches to go in the season. No idea if the remaining transfer fee's will eventually get me sacked.
Really enjoyed that Luke. Looking forward to colo colo!
superb video as always and i feel for strikers with low composure shooting with power works higher composure and technique allows for lobbing and placing shots
This is kinda true becasue in Zealand's Taunton save, Nick Mcootie scored 51 goals and he had shoots with power
Yesterday morning I was looking on TH-cam for the best player traits to use on every position (since I’m playing with youngsters and regens, they all come without traits) and 2 hours later, you upload a video about it!! On point, you’re the best!!
You're lucky if your newgens and youngsters have no traits... I get traits on my intakes often, many of which can ruin a perfectly good player. Had a player with 5 long shots who liked to shoot from distance...
very helpful m8 changed the way i look for players now
U derserve all off the success you are getting your just so amazing
Nice video, just a quick question, suppose, if a midfielder has a “runs with the ball often “ player trait, do I need to click on the “run at defense “ team instruction or he will anyway runs with the ball often even if I do not click on the “run at defense” team instruction?
Irl places shots should lead to finishing and composure attributes increasing a lot. Salah at roma was wasteful but under klopp his finishing is one of the best.
Great information Luke
I think this is the best video on FM i have ever seen, and i have been playing FM since 1996 lol :D
What about Knock ball past Opponent along with Beat offside traps? Seems perfect combo for pacy attacker..?
Would have been cool to se you use the editor and make a team of your perfect elleven based on traits
Arrives late in opponents area is the best trait in the game imo
Does not move into channels on target forwards is class, they're always in the right place for knock-downs and actually get in the box for crosses
Have you ever tried Milinkovic-Savic in that CM on attack role? He is just like Soucek
dont train 'prounounces difficult foreign names wrong' on FM YT creators. Causes melts in comments to get out of their tree for no reason. Wish they would fix this bug.
I'm trying to keep my strikers from drifting wide, even when the formation is narrow.
you dont really see great long range passing in this game, either a hoof, or short range tiki stuff around the box. just my observation
Does "Argues with officials" actually do anything? I don't think players got booked for dissent since FM19(?).
I assume they took it out for "Respect" reasons.
I've signed Soucek every year for the last 3-4
You've completely misunderstood beats opponent repeatedly!!
Hi Luke! Question mate! Have you ever made a video about player instructions? He difference between tactical or personalised?
i stuggle with setting personal pressing myself, dont understand it at all. should you lower your cb pressing while increasing your full backs slightly? no clue. maybe keep all defenders on same pressing to stay as a unit? no clue, tried them all and no difference. Can you sit on the edge of your own box with low press intensity and hit on the break? ive tried so many times just wont work. Seems to me if your a big club or expected to win a game, sitting back will cost you the match you have to press which leads you to just making attack pressing teams all the time which bores me so much. i try to make the match engine do different things so i see more but all my games end up looking the same, i know after 5 to 10 mins if ill win or lose most of the time.
@@boomshanka4667 that baffles me too mate! I simply cannot find the right analogy! We’ll keep experimenting and see what we can achieve!
GK : Gets Crowd Going, Avoid Weaker Foot
CB :
You can't train "argues with officials" - players pick it up through mentoring.

From what I've experienced in the game, Teamwork is the attribute that indicates how well the player fits into the system, while Player Traits are more akin to their habits in game. When the Player Instructions contradicts with the Player Traits, the ones with higher Teamwork is more likely to execute team instructions over his Player Traits, and vice versa.
Makes sense for sure
