    Thanks for highlighting these two mics. TH-cam likely sent me your video because of my previous views of the R0DE NT-USB Mini content. Sub'd.
    Recently replaced a Blue Yeti with a Rode NT-USB Mini (my second now). First time I really started to play with the R0DE Connect software. Underrated as hell. I'm finally beginning to appreciate how well it works with their mics and offloads work from OBS and post (DaVinci).
    I had NO idea the R0DE VideoMic GO even existed. Great solution that I can use on my camera and my overhead boom.
    edit: Just read your bio so I will add" Vielen dank!"

    This was a well thought out video that was executed properly with a wealth of information to help anyone choose which microphone they might want to purchase. I personally went with the Rode NT-USB Mini and I absolutely love it! Great video!

    "Broad Reach" is the name for around 4 or 5 o'clock direction (you face 12 o'clock), or around 7 or 8 on the other side too.
    It refers to the direction the sails would be facing when sailing with the wind coming from 12 o'clock.
    Subtitles say "Broadway", which would actually be cooler.
    Cool little thing I learned from the video, along with the helpful mic and Connect information, thanks!

    Thank you very much for the review. I was just looking for exactly that comparison since I want to buy one as an zoom call microphone. I feel like the Go II is able to display much more emotion in the voice and is therefore the choice for me. With a 192000hz headphone, your voice is much easier to comprehend on the Go II and has an overall more authentic and natural sound in my opinion - which is exactly what I need in sales calls and meetings with clients.

      Thanks and I’m happy that the video has helped you decide. You also might be interested to know that I haven’t done any post-processing on the audio (apart from what you saw me switching on in Røde Connect and loudness normalizing for TH-cam) so what you’ve heard in your headphones is what you’re going to get, ie with room reflections bleeding in. I tend to agree with your choice especially because the Noise Gate in Røde Connect would actually help your audio even further and the Exciter does a really good job in adding clarity to one’s voice. Have fun with the Go II!

      A noise gate might help: it easily picks up environmental noise.

    Question - if I enable some effects & settings on windows using the RØDE Connect software. Will it be carried over to other devices, like my PS5 or iPad. Bcz I cannot install any software on those devices to control this mic. Please can you answer??? I am looking forward to use this only on my PS5 for streaming, gaming recording. I saw that this has a NOISE GATE built in which is triggered by the software. And software is only on Windows & Mac.
    So what I'm thinking is, I'll connect this mic to my windows laptop, enable noise filter & then take this to my PS5/ipad. But i need to know if the setting done on windows software will work on ps5/ipad.

      Very good question, I unfortunately cannot confirm it - I have only read a in a review that it works with the NT1 5th Gen, however I could not yet prove that it works with the older mics as well.

      Sure, but the trouble is that I still will not be able to confirm it, I can only judge by my ears - which is not really a scientific proof. But what I will eventually do is to change settings in windows then have a look at how they look like on a Mac.

    Mister Meister over the years I've spend some $$$$ on microphones. Geez... I currently use the Electrovoice RE20 and I love this microphone. I went from this one to that one to the other one and all the money I spent for those microphone to keep from spending $450 on the Electrovoice is more than what I spent on the Electrovoice! 🤦🏽‍♂
    My only saving grace is I sold two of the mics (deep discount) and got a little of my money back. 😐 I'm going to take the RE20 to the grave with me. 😅

    • @PodcastMeister
      @PodcastMeister  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Nick, I feel for you. 😂 I have a modest collection too meanwhile, and I was lucky to find an SM7B heavily discounted to 300€ which I could not resist and there’s the SE Dynacaster which is one of my favorites. However, had I known this when I started and didn’t yet know if it works out for me, the VideoMic Go II or the NT mini would have been more than enough until I would have figured it out.
      The entry barrier got (luckily) so low by today to get into podcasting or live-streaming - at least in terms of investment in gear) that you can get a complete mic & routing/mixing setup with more than acceptable audio quality for 99$ - it is mind-blowing.

    For voiceover, which is the best with these 2 and me Nt-usb+ and senheiser profile ?

    • @PodcastMeister
      @PodcastMeister  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I haven‘t tried the NT-USB+ and the Sennheiser Profile. Based on what I‘ve seen/heard and the fact that the NT-USB+ works with Røde Connect where you can adjust its voice processing and record it, I would probably go for that. The Sennheiser Profile is said to be really good as well. It’s also cheaper, but does not work with Røde Connect.

      @PodcastMeister  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@francoisguillon4766 No, you don’t have the Aphex Big Bottom and the Aphex Aural Exiter in Garageband, on tge other hand you can dial in compression and noise gate better there.

    • @PodcastMeister
      @PodcastMeister  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@francoisguillon4766 Rode Connect is fantastic as podcast recording software as it can record in multitrack and has built-in mix-minus for 2 remote guests. But if you just want to do voiceovers then Garageband is just fine and you can add processing on post-production, rather than “baking it in” while recording. So it depends on what you need. By the way, Tom Buck has a great comparison of the NT-USB+ vs the Sennheiser Profile in case you haven’t found it yet.
