      Thanks Brian! Yes, I've been getting a few messages of people saying "this isn't KITT!" Well, maybe not according to what you see on Blu-ray, but for me it is. I'm building it to my own taste and budget. 😜

      @@MotorScotti There is a TH-cam channel known as Knight Rider Historians that's an excellent resource for what's screen accurate and what isn't. To further confuse the screen accuracy nerds, there were about twenty cars used for KITT, five of which survive. In addition, there were numerous variations not seen on screen including cars that used the stock dash and the stock steering wheel. These were used in stunts because not only was the round steering wheel easier to use for reverse-180s, but it would have been wasteful and too expensive to use the interior KITT dash on cars in which the interior wasn't shown. This was already an expensive show to produce, so producers looked to cut costs where possible. Keep up the great work on your KITT. While yours isn't technically screen accurate either
      (KITT didn't have an airbag, round steering wheel, round driving lights, or seat belts), IMHO, safety beats screen accuracy every time. I'm thrilled your car is a daily driver, and I think your variations make your car a lot more interesting.

      I'm also always glad to learn from others, that's why I share my experiences. I lot of time and money can be saved by learning from other people's experiences, but at the end of the day you gotta do it yourself :-D

    This is another great video !! I was able to grab a full set of 14” TCR with caps and new tires and was trying to figure out how to zip tie them(the previous owner mentioned I would probably need to do that ). This is perfect !

    This video brings back memories of when I did my wheels. Only difference with mine is I painted the spokes “GM slate grey” as the originals were painted. Only the outer edges of the spokes were left unpainted. Awesome job and really like your video.

      @MotorScotti  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks I appreciate it very much!! I didn't know the original TCR were painted. I only knew of the gold painted ones, but not that the grey ones ever were. Mine didn't look painted when I got them. Hope I can bring more useful infos to the community!

      What would be the proper silver or gray color code if I were repainting a set of these wheels? After being sanded and polished of course. Thanks!

    I'm trying to make mine feel a little more modern on the road so ive gone with a multispoke 17" rim ive found that fits our stud pattern and a friend made a 17" bowling ball hub cap which ive made a mould of and made a set. I think they look pretty good and only someone who KNOWS would realise they are not correct turbo cast rims. Good info and video as alway Scotti.

    Great video, I wonder if the hub caps could be installed with the wheels of the car and then mount them on? Or may be lift the car and get the zip ties from the back. Your video gave my ideas. Thank you for your effort. God Bless.

    • @MotorScotti
      @MotorScotti  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, you can mount the hubcaps on the wheels first and then the wheel to the car. I have done it. However, I recommend using a long ratchet nut with a rubber protection in order not to damage the hubcap. Also, you need to hold the ratchet completely straight (90° to the wheel) when tightening in order not to brake the inside of the hubcap. I once broke one and spend a lot of time regluing, filling, sanding and painting it...
      Thank you for your nice comment. All the best!

    i tried zipties and i have winter here in michigan, and the zipties froze and broke off lol so... if u have winter where u live try metal wire :)

    • @MotorScotti
      @MotorScotti  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wow yeah winter can be similar here in Switzerland, but I have a another solution: Don't drive it in the winter😅😋

    • @knytrydr73
      @knytrydr73 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The ziptie method seems like a real hassle for when you have to get new tires. Cut those off then have to thread new ones in place? yeesh!

    What silver paint is that? do you mind posting the actual part number? Thanks

    • @MotorScotti
      @MotorScotti  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I just used some regular "silver paint for wheels". That's what it says on the can. No specific color code. Since it's just on the outer rim, a color difference isn't visible anyway.

    Bowling ball is right, couple years later the gold rims were much better.
