  • It can be difficult to know where to go to buy all the different parts you need to do a good kitt conversion so in this video I explain in detail where I have purchased everything and how much I paid as well. At the time of making this video all the vendors I mention in this video are still trading as far as I know but apologies if anything has changed or particular parts have been discontinued, this does sometimes happen.

    Great video!! Gotta say your KITT is fantastic!! How did you sort your rear indicators? I have in amber bulbs but they still look quite red due to the red plastic.

    Also I had another question the seats that originally come in a Pontiac Firebird are those the same type of seeds that are in KITT or do I need to purchase a different type of seat thanks again

    • @FunkyProjects
      @FunkyProjects  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Depending what year the car is depends what seats it comes with. Mine came with horrible grey bucket seat type seats. Getting the correct pmd seats isn't that difficult but it's always better if you get them with the car. I had to buy both of my pmd seats 2nd hand and they were a bit messy but once you get them re covered and plumped up they come up great. I paid about $450 for my pmd seats which is actually a good price as they can often be more than that. The cover kit I bought from rock Auto.

    What's really different is that I know that GM when they put the 5.7 engines the car should be automatic and the 5.0 come with manual
    So your car is backwards.

    • @FunkyProjects
      @FunkyProjects  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mine is a 5.0L 5 speed manual

    Hi there I am currently looking at a 1984 Pontiac Firebird with turbo cast 15 inch wheels 305 engine supposedly no rest for only $9900 my question is is there anything different between a 1982 Pontiac Firebird and 1984 Pontiac Firebird that I would have to change to get it to be to get the car to be just like it was in knight rider

    • @FunkyProjects
      @FunkyProjects  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Off the top of my head I can't remember everything that is different between an 82 and 84 but either those two year cars and you will have a good start. Without seeing them it's hard to know for sure. The main parts you would want on the car to save you the most money is the hood with vent, 15 inch wheels, the correct rear bumper which should already be there if it's an 82 or 84. The vents in each front wing, correct rear lights, pmd seats inside and the correct style center console like mine with flat arm rest section. Also t top and if the interior is already tan colour that could save youba lot of work but only if it's in great condition. So basically try to get as many of those parts on the car as you can because it will save you a lot of time and money in the future. The one thing to be aware of is if it has the transam body kit then be aware it's quite a bit of work removing it and fixing it up. It's what I had to do with mine and I had to weld holes up and then respray all the lower section of car where body kit came off. $10k for a car with all of that though if you can get it is a pretty good deal buy I would say is rare to find. 👍

    How were you able to secure the metal etched parts to the door molding??

    What paint and color did you use for the tan interior panels?

    • @FunkyProjects
      @FunkyProjects  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I local garage sprayed my plastics for me. What we did was we matched the paint colour to my seat belts. of course you need to make sure you have the correct shad of tan colour for your seat belts first but there isn't many tan variations for the belts as far as I know. The reason I did it this way is because you can't really change the colour of your belts so you want the rest of your interior to match your belts rather than try to match your interior to your belts because you can't really spray parts of your belts.

    Was there any rust under the car when you bought it?

    • @FunkyProjects
      @FunkyProjects  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      under the car there wasn't any and when I stripped out all interior floor was all solid. There was a little but that was picked up on the MOT inspection on on sill but that is very tiny and is an easy fix and I will be doing that very soon. Apart from that everything is solid and he is running lovely at the moment. Still more upgrades to do though but they can be done over next couple of years 👍

      ha ha, I am very careful with it and at times very anal because being tan inside it's very easy to see any marks and dirt and would be very hard to clean anything off should I mark anything
