Lots and lots of work! Most older windows are single pane windows and don't do well for keeping the cold air out. When we bought our old farmhouse we had to replace six windows, and have at least one or two more to go when we get the kitchen finished.
Wow! Great house! I also love the staircase and all the trim! You guys have so much work ahead of you but I can see how beautiful it will all be once it is completed! Really smart to focus on one room at a time so you don’t get overwhelmed and you get those smaller wins more often. Thank you for sharing the journey with us 😊
That's a really big house! I love the staircase and landing. I could almost see a window seat with a pile of books on it. We have owned eight houses and the things we think we will do in the beginning are almost never the same later. You have to live in a house and let it tell you what it wants to be.
Thank you so much! I hope to have something like that there someday. Yes we are slowly realizing thats how things will be with this house. We think we want something and then figure out something better, lol!
Thank you! We've been putting up our second cutting of hay and haven't been working on renovations. We are getting back to renovations this week so there will be a progress video up this Sunday.
You have the right attitude there are many years of work ahead of you guy's but some day you'll be done my wife and I are almost there we've done all are own work pretty much on this early 1900s three story but it's worth it you'll find out also your property is perfect so much potential I love the look of your house on your land thanks for sharing .
Great job on this video! Your entryway is going to be the icing on the cake! Doing one room at a time is the best way, will be able to put your all into it as you go & know more about what you want to do. Once you finish the kitchen though it’s going to give y’all the best feeling & give you a big boost to carry on❤️
Thank you so much! I know I cannot wait to have it finished! After we get it finished the other rooms shouldn't be near as hard to do. The kitchen we had to completely gut but the others wont be so bad hopefully.
Look at the beautiful high rooms, tall windows and original trim! Guess that's the front and back parlours space. Nice choice to use the back one as your bedroom. I'm a new subscriber, so this the 2nd video for me, but I love your determination to keep as much of this original as you can. So respectful. That closet in the dining room looks original. I wonder if they used them as china closets?
This is my first walk through since I started following. Love all your ideas but MAN that sounds like a lot of work. 😅 It’s a labour of love for you, I’m sure, and I’ll enjoy the clips you posts about it, but I could not do it myself. So my hat’s off to you. It’ll be beautiful when you’re done.
I would switch the room you're gonna have vaulted ceilings in and the one you said you will use as the living room. I can't imagine using the huge room with vaulted ceilings as storage for hunting gear etc. It would make a beautiful living room. I would also avoid putting things in front of windows at all costs. The sink in front of the window is different but I wouldn't put furniture in front of windows unless absolutely necessary.
Quick question… how many sqft is this house including the extension from the 70’s? It looks huge! Can’t wait to keep seeing your progress. It’s going to be amazing!
What a lovely walk through! It was nice to be more aquatinted with your house and future lovely home. Tons of potential, you have great ideas for renovations. I would leave as many closets as possible. I really like that one weird closet upstairs, very unique. Suggestion - please check out the You Tube Channel; Farmhouse Vernacular. Their farmhouse is so much like yours and in Kentucky. They did the downstairs 1st and now working on the upstairs. Their entry way & staircase is laid out like yours with beautiful banister railings like yours. They did it in stages and it's beautiful. They have done a wonderful job and good videos to assist others in renovations, you may get some ideas and Information to make some of yours easier. You have a wonderful house and look forward to all your videos. Other channels for information; DIYifferent and 1806 Stonehouse.
Thank you so much! I have, I love her channel it is very helpful! I'll have to check out the other two channels i've never heard of them. Thanks for the suggestions!
Peel & Stick wallpaper will be a big mistake. I found that it will peel due to tempature changes within the home. It was a expense & hassel I wish I had never done.
Hi! I have seen a couple other people comment something similar. I think he may have gotten the channel name mixed up. But either way I’m happy you’re here.
Why do people try to close off doors in these old houses? They were built that way to keep the warm and cool air circulating. The doors were for controlling that circulating air as needed. It ruins the whole concept and makes them insufficient when the weather changes. It's not good!
I like how the builder did the second floor windows-----close to the floor, is so unusual.
What a huge and lengthy renovation that you have ahead! What a journey!
Brave project, take special care for each other....love from the Netherlands

So much time, effort, and cost but it looks like you are definately up for the challenge! Happy renovating to you both.
Your home has alot of charm.

Thank you for sharing this incredible restoration journey. You are such an inspiration!
Glad you enjoy it! Thank you so much!

Ty for the tour. Can't wait to see it chaning to your dream home. Blessings!!
Looks like my house! Same door and bannister. Mine was 1890
That is so cool! The oldest date we've found for the house is 1905.

Welcome, thanks for subscribing! It is original. I’d say they did! My plan was to remove it but we’ve decided to keep it and use it.
@@LewisAcresHomestead oh good! It might be useful for the vacuum, an extra broom etc. if not china.
I know you will make excellent use of it.

I love your staircase and really enjoyed the tour!

Unfortunately in old homes you almost have to. They had huge windows to allow for light and cross breezes.
Persistence is the key and enjoy the journey. And don’t throw any materials out
Yes, that is so right!
I just bought a 1754 quaker built home in Pennsylvania...looks very similar to your house..would love to get in touch with you
That's so awesome! The best way to get in touch would be through email at lewisacreshomestead@gmail.com or through Instagram @lewisacreshomestead
I love this
Beautiful home ❤
Thank you! ❤️

It is a little over 4,000 sqft including the addition, the basement below it, and the cellar.
Save the plaster!? Whats the process??
What a lovely walk through!

Do you plan on keeping the antique doors?
Yes we do.

Nice
History matters ❤ ❤ ❤ will be beautiful
Thank you!
How did you deal with lead paint?
In this video I share the different methods we used.

I wish a tv show would come help you, so much work to do 🥺
@farmhousefixer
It's a lot of work but I wouldn't change a thing. We love getting to do the work and customize it how we want.
