I'd say weeks of work compacted in 23 minutes! Fantastic!! So good to see... upcycling, recycling and repreposing! And a big hand to Digger Dave. Made short work of what would have taken forever and omg! the amount of buried rubble!! Merry Christmas!!
Having worked as a geotechnician for a couple of years I have a good feeling about how much time and work and energy it takes to accomplish all these tasks. I always laugh when they dig graves in movies in like 20 minutes - with a spoon and a fork 🙂 Awesome performance, can't wait to see the final result. Have a nice christmas!
It is a pleasure to see this young man take advantage of existing building materials and use common sense and good craftsmanship. I look forward to seeing further progress.
Fantastic work on a wonderful project. Just a bit of Dad advice for you: You did well to drop the grade around the exterior but I fear you’ve made a pond without any sort of perimeter drain. I can’t see your whole plan, but it looks like you could have issues with water trying to make it back into your space. A 12”x12” trench with 4” perforated pipe, routed with the appropriate fall off of the property, covered to grade with washed stone, would remedy it. Hopefully that wasn’t too annoying but it’s what I do. Cheers!
My arms are aching from just watching you sledge out all of that concrete! Then shovelling out all the packed earth! Whew!🥵 Nice to see you re-use the aggregate as underfill. Too many times I've seen that go right to the landfill. Great video, with shots of all the 'little gaffers' hanging around. 🐔🐓🐦 🙂 And I love the high tech switch for the dump trailer.😁 Cheers!😊
Wow Ben, you sure are one hell of a hard working bloke. I'm floored by how much you've done in such a short time. I'm really getting a huge amount of respect for what you are capable of. The pile of aggregate didn't look like ten tonnes until you started spreading it out, it was an endless supply lol, looking at the pile and how thick you laid it inside, I was thinking there's no way. What a transformation, 🫣, gobsmacked.👍❤️
Hi 👋🏻 Ben. What a transformation already 😊 That digger a was just the help you needed 👍🏻 Then you worked your socks off moving 10 tons of stone 😮 Well done 👏🏻 Love your way of editing your videos.
I’m loving your videos. You are a good speaker and explain yourself very well. You’re certainly a hard worker.👍 and I’m very impressed with the way you are improving the place. Look forward to seeing it finished
Excellent video update thank you. I am really enjoying your renovation videos and show with hard work redundant building can have a further life and they don’t need pulling down. Well done
I am really enjoying the progress you are making. It is great to see that you reuse materials when possible. Best of the holidays to you from Vancouver Island.
if you place the barrow parallel with a slight angle to the product you will fill it faster. pulling it down into the barrow excellent efforts regardless
I'd have put big O around the outside and burred it. It's standard in BC CAN to do for any building. Would work really well in that dip between buildings. It's just 3 inch flex pipe with holes all through it the gutters drain into then then drains the water away from the building. You back fill with 3/4-.
Wow!!!ehat a momoth task you set out to do.i don't know where you get the energy and strength from.hope you ear lots of good meat.greetings from South africa.
That was a big job. I would also sort out the tree trunks and roots and other old wood, let them dry and burn them in the woodburner when needed. Nice to see the progress. That there is a level difference is okay to you?
More inspiration and just so enjoyable. How did you end up setting the finished floor height in relation to the stepped foundation? Keep up the good work!
Looks great but still not sure what you did to prevent water from getting into the shop. With numerous sheets of plastic laid down water just gets right under that. If it didn’t get right under that the low side of your plastic was against your building. You made the plastic higher along the soil away from the building and lowest side at the building. Just curious how all this is draining water away from the building. Or was the goal just to allow the water to accumulate in all this hard pack you made?
At the risk of sounding like a smart a**, it sure didn't look like 10 ton of rock, but I bet it felt like it after moving it with a shovel and wheelbarrow. My back hurt just watching.
@@ben-kilner with the heavy aggregate it might be less inviting, but still. I'd do an inspection around the foundation to be sure there aren't any openings in the wall. That's just more than a little unnerving.
great video, What is your opinion on Wooden flooring in whit´ch the endgrain is facing upwards? Sorry I do not know the english word for it, in german it is called "Hirnholzboden". I have it in my workshop and think it's great!
Good question! I’ll be putting gutters in during another episode. Given the pitches of the roof and the way the land lies the path around the side should’t see too much accumulation. I have built in a slight gradient to allow for drainage channels alongside paving stones 👍
Tons of respect for the hard manual labour you're putting in. It looks like it is going to be a fantastic and character-full workshop!
🤓🙏🙏🤞

Love your style, mate! Hands-on, even the sledge, and recycling everything! Great project!
I'd watch this if it were an hour long. Thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it 🥳
Loving this project. You're resourceful with all of those marketplace finds and not at all afraid of hard work. You're crushing this stuff!

Absolutely fantastic, an incredible amount of work done and lots more to go but It's gonna look brilliant.
Loving this series 👍👍👍
Thank you 🙏🙏
I've been waiting for this all week ❤

I've binge-watched your entire playlist in a couple of days. I'm afraid I'm going to need a lot more of these. Keep them coming!

Ben - this is all so well done - endorses faith in the future - respect

Great work Ben,, your place is looking fantastic. Hard work but this is going to be a superb place.
Amazing resourcefulness and the filtration was weirdly satisfying to watch!
passionnante rénovation menée avec détermination et courage ¡ un dur et beau labeur jeune homme
Splendid progress and renovating that building will keep you fit.
I can't like it enough times it deserves to. Hat off, Ben, i'm deeply impressed with your hard work and vision
I hope you have a wonderful Christmas and New year's, full of love and laughter, family and friends. Merry Christmas.🎄❤️
Wow, you did almost all that by hand, I am so impressed!
That's some seriously impressive hand digging! I bet you were aching after that!
Too bad that there was not enough of the old stone floor. Beautiful. Great job.
this is a massive improvement
Cup of coffee on a Saturday morning and a new video pops up. Bliss.
Also, having shoveled a pile of base as large as that I can feel the burn from here!

Masterful Execution in Reclamation! Well Done Sir!
my favourite restoration
You are a machine! Great work. Loving this series.
Excellent video update thank you. I am really enjoying your renovation videos and show with hard work redundant building can have a further life and they don’t need pulling down.
Well done
Well that was epic! Well done as per usual. I feel your pain for the want of a smaller truck.
A little something for Christmas. 🥳
Thank you 🤩🙏🙏 it will go towards new camera gear for the channel 📹
@ben-kilner
That sounds good. 😀👍
Mate you should make these videos a hour long 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
swinging that sledgehammer like a boss!
Top work young man. I like your style!
Some good work you’re doing there lad.
Keep chipping away.
So far, so good.
Increíble trabajo, se ve espectacular el cambio, bravo 👏
Total respect Ben for the graft mate. I look forward to the coming episodes. Merry Christmas and a happy new year

Very good video. Great progress too🎉
Great video good content and editing could happily have watched an hour long ep.

bros's got the titanium back, dang
Very tiring job, but a pleasure to watch. New subscriber.
Welcome to the channel 🤩🥳

Appreciate the longer format. 10 minute videos just don't do the hard work justice!
😄🙏
nice work.
Thank you!
Wow!
wow fantastic vid ben loved it
Thanks 👍
Hint. Always face the wheel barrow the direction of travel before filling it
Tu devrais posé des drains français pour empêcher l’infiltration d’eau
a lot of graft there, some transformation.
Loving this restoration Ben. (And was that a nest of Wrens?)

Cant wait for next episode!
Please Hurry 😊
How do we send donations to you?

Damp proof layer? Sand for laying the floor stones, or grout?
will you live in this building?
Did you ever identify where the rats (shudder) were gaining entry to below the slab? I've never see that before.
I think near the door… 👀🐀
@@ben-kilner with the heavy aggregate it might be less inviting, but still. I'd do an inspection around the foundation to be sure there aren't any openings in the wall. That's just more than a little unnerving.
Looking god, but where will the water go when it rains? Kinda looks like it will be trapped in the depression

I see a lot of asbestos in the rubble 😅
The cat looked very tired.
It probably just woke up from a nap and now needs a nap to help recover the energy spent from the previous nap. 🤣
I love the work ethic, but you know you can hire demolition equipment, yeah? :) Trust the 50 year old here, your spine will thank you.
Why are all digger drivers called Dave??
Because "Gold" was already taken by the female gender
Drainage?
Patience. I’m sure he’s thought of that. Just sit back and enjoy 🤠
I was thinking that too, going to need some solid guttering and a place to send it to, or that area is going to get flooded in the next downpour.
Good question! I’ll be putting gutters in during another episode. Given the pitches of the roof and the way the land lies the path around the side should’t see too much accumulation. I have built in a slight gradient to allow for drainage channels alongside paving stones 👍
its worthless job done actually - intead of laying that carpet underneath the rubble you had to install proper drainage pipework
Rather a boring episode
meh , who needs a gym
Impressive!
