    Simon, you genius. After an entire group of Landy owners laughed at how I had no access to my winch and was undoing my mesh entirely before and after offroad events, I just pulled mine off but it looks a bit unfinished. This mesh patch is the perfect solution ! Buying now.

      PS - I have the Aussie LR bull bar, with the same mesh, rather than the velcro-d on piece on your Defender here... I'll send you a pic once it's installed. It'll work brilliantly though, I believe.

      Thanks for the update - UK law does not allow the more solid front bars - it would be great to know that it works for all the front winch configurations ! Simon

    Well done Simon and crew!! I first spoke to you not long after you started up Powerful and at the time was heavily involved in the LR market, I’m now old and retired but I’m so glad that you are still going strong and that is down to not only your very hard work and brilliance as a design engineer but also down to the excellent team that you have built around you. Long may you continue to be successful. Keep up the good work and excellent videos!!

      Yes we have been going a while now ! we have evolved a lot and I certainly really enjoy designing products and the 3D printers have really enabled us to get designs to market quickly !

    fantastic Simon. It might be good to put a small lanyard-type attachment on the circlip so when you drop it in the mud/water you don't lose it

    Thanks Simon. Winch re-set (what a nightmare, but thanks for guidance). Rest of kit just fitted. Great quality 👍

    Great to see this come to life as a final product, looks awesome.
    Only challenge now is how to sort the number plate ?
    It’s a shame that LR accessories Engineering group didn’t really think this one through!

    Id recommend some ppe when using power tools. Safety glasses at the very least

    Great idea Simon, however you need some sort of security cord for the C clip so as not too drop it in the mud lol.

      Hi Gordon - I always look forward to your comments ! I need to look for a nice stainless cord ...

    I recommend the Milwaukee Hakzawl power hacksaw. Watch the sparks and your eyes and paintwork while using the rotary tools. You don’t want half a Dremel cutting disc embedded in your cheek either. I would paint first and then, when dry, apply the jungle juice.

    The Yankum ropes are excellent - look at the snatch blocks that are actually rings. You could use the rope eye on a hook at the top of your A frame. Casey Ladelle of cascade heavy rescue has a number of demonstration videos on his channel of the Yankum kit.

    These are great little kits. Well done all. You guys come up with some great solutions.
    I can't believe Land Rover think that velcro is acceptable for that bumper. It basically means it is all but useless in the real world. It could come off during a water crossing, from a minor impact, or if you need to get up on the front of the car for some reason. It should at least have trim clips or fasteners on the underside.

    A reciprocating saw with a hacksaw blade is what you want for this job.

    If the tow hook is permanently on the bumper like that I wouldn’t be surprised if it was illegal as it’s not pedestrian friendly.

    • @L663
      @L663  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Scott - the idea is this is only deployed for off roading trips - the neat design of the land rover winch where it is not visible is great for normal road use. Also i think someone would steal the hook if left on display !

    In the good old days of the Defender , they didnt have any of the problems your Defender 2 seems to be suffering with . Can you imagine how long the Camel Trophy would have taken if operating that particular vehicle . I keep surfing the web looking for these Vehicles used in anger . Kindest Regards to all - Cant you carry a wire to top of bonnet as an OFF/ON switch

    • @L663
      @L663  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Mike - the old Defender had many problems with rust / bearing / brakes etc the nee Defender has more modern problems ! It would have been a good idea for Warn to put a remote reset button on the winch !

    Maybe a stainless steel wire lanyard for that hook clip, it'll stop it disappearing.

    I can't believe the Land Rover people are so petty that they can't take a little criticism?
