I worked on my GT Turbo back in 1994, and i still get sweaty arm pits when i think about the cramped space in the engine bay. Even back then it was a fight to get it to run reliably. Costed me al lot of money, but brought even more joy!! Hope you also will enjoy it soon. 👍
Great update happy 4 you the anti perc fan was prone to setting on fire 🔥 so most people remove them an who doesn't want more boost in the gt turbo thats why no over boost sensor on the intercooler pipe and yes aei (ecu) crank sensor and fuel pump all work together remove one and no start first place to start looking when fail to start or cut out
I can send you pictuters of my engine bay if needed as I just build in the engine. Also without any idea how it would fit but with pictures from internet/workshop manuels it is working fine now. Drove 130Km last week with it and loved it! Like your projekt and video's - keep on going!!!
After a new build, I used cheap oil,run the engine up to temp so the fan cycles once. I then let it totally cool, re torque headbolts and reset valve clearance. Then I used to drive them with little or no boost, and take them all the way up the rev range, but not under load so the engine does not labour.
Get rid of the perc fan. Mine seized and caught fire like many others. Luckily I went back to the car and saw the smoke before it was too late. I am pretty sure it is best to use the Renault coolant as well rather than a generic one. You can leave the overboost sensor disconnected . Can’t wait to hear it running 🤗
Yes maybe i should.... But I like it... its a quirky detail.. maybe ill make a fuse for it.. :) The coolant should live up to renault (and aluminum head) standard.. :) Thanks!
@@SeasideGarage if you swap the wires in the crank position sensor plug, you will also advance the timing by a few degrees, if your not running huge boost might make it feel a bit more lively. If you do want to run more boost, dont enlarge the main jet, increase the 1st and 2and stage (mainly 2and stage) boost enrichment jets.
The anti perc fits into the boost hose, and blows inside the carb. Just blank it off on the outlet of the perc fan as the solenoid can leak and you loose boost.
@@SeasideGarage 10a fuse I think was the official Renault recall. Also hard go see in the video, but the fuel feed from the regulator should go into the perc fan elbow, enters at the bottom where the round tube like section points down, and the out where it directs air at the carb.
@@SeasideGarage So here in Brazil the c1j engine is known as cht !!and the engine is not turbocharged!!!but then I'm turbocharged and picking up all the information about the engine to increase engine power!!!!get about 300 hp!! congratulations on the videos!!!

Thanks! I hope so too!
Yea its pretty cramped in there, especially compared to other cars from that era...
Waiting for the oil light to go off, I was on the edge of my seat shouting , come on come on... yessss,
Love your videos. Thanks again, Jonathan k
Haha! yea I can tell you that it was a very tense moment! So much relief when it went out.
Thanks Jonathan!

Well maybe ill ditch those systems then... I like the perc fan... not the fire part tho... maybe I can make a fuse for it!

Thanks! I really hope im as lucky!... I think its back together correct now actually... :)

That sound as a good way to do it... By no boost, did you wind the wastegate out?
@@SeasideGarage I used to pull the rod off the waste gate pivot. Saves all that messing around 👍
@@reTool462 Thats was easy.. :)

There was an official Renault recall to add a small bit of loom that included a 10a fuse to prevent that from happening 😉
@@reTool462 That was what I was thinking to do! :)
Also worth checking the vacuum capsule on the aei holds vacuum/pressure.
I will.. thanks!

@@reTool462 cool!
I plan to run it stock... at least to begin with... ;) Thanks!
The perculation hose looks to run to atmosphere to equalise pressure so the car doesnt flood with petrol when switched off.
It seems to go into the carb to cool internally i think... but not sure.

Yea, i think ill do that.... I would like to keep the perc fan tho... might end up fusing it to avoid fire...
