I just adore hearing the 2cv engine fire into life, they are great. As for scratching the front wing a great English 2CV engineer Jonathan Holmes showed me a trick of cutting the bottom out of a 1.5 litre drink bottle and sliding it over the bumper to stop the marks on the wings .Try it very simple and cheap fix.
Friend of mine took on a similar project. In the end he had to start from scratch and assume that nothing had been overhauled/repaired as everything he touched was incorrect or just plain butchered. He reckoned it would have been easier and cheaper to buy a vehicle requiring restoration than the mess he bought and discovered. You’re a brave man taking that on, I’d be checking everything. Looks nice though 😊
I cant believe you let the raw power of a 2cv get away from you! 😂 Thanks for the videos, Graham, parked up in my Renault Trafic mk1 eribacar on an ex RAF/ USA airfield in Somerset, England. 😊
Don’t be too hard on yourself, it’s a great run through AND to camera.. I would say the car is eager to go! After the first scratch, ya can enjoy carefree driving now 👍
Love the 2CV. I have an 87 Special in red with a navy blue hood. The more you drive them the more fun they are. You have to admire the genius and weirdness in their design.
Nice! A simple classic car that would be a joy to own, service and drive as a complete contrast to an owners modern daily driver with all the 21st century bells and whistles!
Elly the 2CV's twin sister is very solid. It would be a great little car to practice paint spraying on, with all its elegant curves and angles to the iconic 2CV shape. The engine bay is mint. I'm looking forward to the progress with this one.
I love these 2CVs and enjoy watching you working on them. It looks good in white as I haven’t seen many that colour. My favourite sounding engine when working properly even though my absolutely favourite car is a Lamborghini Miura!!
Taking on an unfinished project is difficult as you found out what the previous owner did and you found out as far as l can see its a very nice Citroen 2CV
Had to change the wiring loom on my 2cv when I bought it everything was botched and short circuited. Even the road wheel nuts were only hand tight. Hope you keep it so we can meet up at 2cv events.
Well, you're still lucky as all the damage is on the same wing. And you can remove the whole thing without much trouble. So you're doing good. Love the car!
18:50 Assuming you're starting it in gear with the clutch pedal held down it appears that the clutch isn't releasing as some drag is apparent with the car moving during cranking. Perhaps it's fortunate it wasn't a five litre V8 🙂
Whoops! I feel for you, but as you say that wing needed painting anyway. The fluid coming out of the calliper looked "normal" and not green so you might have an issue there. You did say the PO wasn't very up on Citroens.
What was the steel quality of those French cars? I have only seen quite new & pampered ones owned by the Nordic Artistic classes. (Denmark!(Those sligthly more well off. This one looked parly brownish.. Or was it just stripped away glue? Not even the DS, never seen a rusty one, i think. But the steel seem to be doubted by the French themselves...
Engine sounds great! But something is wrong with the clutch... its adjusted to the max but still it just barely lets go... something to investigate next year. :)

The Citroen CV 2 with the oblong headlights such as yours are very rare nowadays. I like your car.

I've just bought a 2cv last week, and yes they are great fun to drive around! 😊
Oh my! be careful!!!
should have told me that before! haha!
I love the 2CVs with oblong headlights, they just look so much nicer.
Seems this 2CV is a little feral with the way it was trying to escape, definitely needs to be retrained to be a good little duck... :P
Is there primer under the paint? Shame about the bump, but it is character building😂

Love the car!
Got my 69 2cv Furgonete since '85 and I'll never let it go ,first I'll die 😂
The wiring loom does look.....hairy n' scary. Nice car though, and would make a wonderfull weekend driver in the summer.

haha Had it been a v8 I would still be driving... But yes.. there is some drag.. something is wrong in that clutch system

Don't forget that a 602 is a speed machine - shit happens

Plus side engine sounds good and clutch works….are they usually that fierce tho?

That paint on the wing does not look good at all. I hope body itself it better.
Nice
When you are driving out of the garage it looks like the back wheels are sliding, are they locked up or is it an illusion?
must be an illusion... they are not stuck at all :)
HI ouch. good video
In the UK we call this "Sod's Law". If it can go wrong, it will. oops!
👍👍
Too posh for you that one.
that paint doesnt look like it has good adhesion... it flakes off waaay too easy :O
Yea... Hopefully just on the wings!
