I follow zac on all social media. Dude is just a outstanding gent. Never puts shade on anyone stays to himself, and his friends but drops the sickest golf videos.
Played this course a couple times, the second time with my wife in the rain. It was brutally hard and we were soaked, but the sight of dozens of waterfalls flowing down the mountains as we played made it worth it. We had smiles on our faces all day. It's a breathtaking place.
I played this course 2 years ago and it is still, hands down, the most beautiful course I've played. The entire round I kept humming the Jurassic Park theme song. AND as a 13 handicap I broke 90 there!
I played it back in the 90's when I was stationed in Hawaii JUST to say that I did it (I still have the golf bag marker)! I have NO IDEA how many golf balls I lost...or drinks of Jack...but it was FUN AS HELL!
Learned to play in Kathmandu Nepal at the local golf country club. The Ko'olau club is nice but I think the course in Nepal is more difficult. Narrow fairways, course requirement was to have a ball boy whose mission was to retrieve any errant shots off the fairway due to the presences of snakes. During the monsoon season, the fairways were swamp with no roll to the ball. After two years of play, I like to think I got better but my wife swears I was a hack when I started and after two years I was still a hack. :) Got to love her honesty.
Yep...I know this course well. When I lived in Hawaii this was the course of last resort when we could not get a proper t-time on a Saturday. We would hitch up our bootstraps and head to Ko'olau and 12 golf balls minimum for my group. The score was not important, it was whoever lost the least amount of golf balls was the winner. Beautiful course.
I grew up in Kailua and 1x/yr my dad and I would go tee em up at the Ko'olau. We would laugh our butts off as we would lose ball after ball. We gave it the moniker, "Home of the ravine swing". Heck, just driving the cart was one of the sketchiest parts.
The one thing that I hate the most....FILL IN YOUR DIVOTS! This is the most disrespectful golf I have ever watched for a majestic golf course like this!
Anyone who puts in the work to add shot tracer in their videos, instant like from me :) The contrast between you two is great! Get to watch a great player play some serious golf, and then what could be a stand in for anyone one of my foolish, drunk, amazing golf buddies!

Hawaii was actually the reason I picked up golf. I was in Maui, and I ate breakfast at The Dunes at Maui Lani Golf Course. The courses scenery was unbelievable. Keep up the great content, Zac!
I find the courses on lava rock are always the hardest. They can't dig to flatten them, so you very often end up with fairways that slope side to side and hills that obstruct the view of the flag. Bermuda has that kind of golf, same as Hawaii.
@@ZacRadford I remember the course actually being a bit harder when I played it because the fairways and greens had been cut and there had been no rain that week. The course shows its true nature when the ball gets a bit of rollout. Especially on the greens!
One of your best bro. Love seeing you play with Tripp. And that backdrop. Wow. God’s beauty on display throughout. Looking forward to watching part 2 next.
As your approached the golf course, there was a huge sign that said, “TOUGHEST IN THE NATION.” They took it down because it was too “intimidating.” I live here and played twice and it was brutal. Especially the second time when it was raining. When it rains, I think even Pros have a tough time.
Playing the Ko'olau is one of my fav tracks in HI...what visiting and golfing on the Islands is all about. Truly a tough track but always seem to play well there. Cool video that showcases this golf club. Can't wait to play there again.
As a result of the Ko'Olau, the USGA established a maximum slope rating of 155 that course architects are expected to adhere. At the time it was completed, the Ko'Olau had a slope rating of 162 as estimated by Bob Knuth and the USGA ratings team (and has been reduced to 152 to reflect the "new" USGA maximum.) I played the Ko'Olau many times when I lived in Hawaii. I quickly abandoned the scorecard and began judging my game by the number of balls I lost and how many remained in my bag at the end of the round.
Wow what a beautiful course!!! Love that you can track your sweet 4i stinger because of that very green mountain in the background. Please, please keep up these course vlogs. Very entertaining.
Sick course! Should have played when I was in Maui a few years ago. Excuse for another visit! You crushed the first nine! +2 isn’t bad at all. I would have lost all 12 in the first three holes. 🤦♂️. Keep up the great content!
such a beautiful looking course, but for sure seems like it collects a ton of balls from golfers. seems like if you hit dont hit in the fairway or rough it is GONE!!!!!
Lived in Kailua for 10 years and spent a bunch of time on that property. It was always overrated as a golf course, but the club pro was really good, it had the best grass range on that side of the island and the restaraunt, "Honey's" had a fabulous breakfast. The trip to Hawaii was worth it for the pancakes. Aloha

I had to buy another dozen on the turn for fear of what might happen on the back... not to mention the 'on and off' rain my gf and I had to deal with wearing short sleeves & shorts.... but truly, without a doubt, sickest views of nature in my life (not just on a golf course.. of my entire life)

That 1st hole used to have bunkers all along the middle of the fairway back in the day. Guess they changed it to make it easier. And if it didn't rain all the time, they could make the greens way faster and the course would be gross
Yea as someone just learning the game I think its important to try and manage how where your shooting. I may not hit the ball even close to my target and I am definitely bringing more swings to each round then clubs. BUT at least im making the attempt to put myself in good positions
I’ve played there with my brother and a friend. I lost 11 balls. Most were lost in the fairways. Ground was so soft the balls would plug. My brother gave up.
