The demand is not there for an officially supported OSMS Server. Therefore the reasoning for Maple Worlds offsets development costs back onto the players. The return on investment for OSMS is also not really there at a base level, all the content is quite shallow. But you never know if the demand changes their mind.
@MadrexusMaple in my opinion, though, current maplestory is booty cheeks. I wouldn't say that game has any depth either. I tune into streams every so often, and I see everyone just farming the same maps doing 69 lines of damage to 73 enemies at once, zooming around the map and then rinse and repeat. To each their own I guess.
@@andrew4787 Agree to disagree. The truth of the matter is the goalposts have just moved from the OSMS to current. The story content is a lot more fleshed out, many progression systems allow you to increase character power in many ways and interesting and unique boss design shows they have tried to innovate on the game over the years. I think comments like how you see people grinding the same maps are going to be true in a present day OSMS implementation, people have changed how we play games from back then, people dont want to be wasting their time. The world was different back then and maple was really an interactive social hub, these days those interactions live on discord, youtube or other streaming platforms.
@@AvocadoTheBugCat no it has not been confirmed. So you seriously believe we will all be playing old school maplestory in the year 2024? I pray to the high heavens that is the case but realistically they won’t give us that.
@TheOchocincoboi nexon America apparently did purchase some sort of copy rights to this particular tool mentioned In this video. I would say it is coming since nexon America has already invested into it. As for its success, we will see. The company blizzard did the same thing NY releasing classic wow and it turned out to be a success. Until today classic wow Is very lively. I can see maple land also being successful. Of course it will not be more popular than the original MS but it definitely will be played by many.
Imagine, having the oppertunity to make millions, probably more, by just simply making a classic updated version of MS. Yeah old school MS has some issues it was released at a time where errors were made. QOL it and make it happen, you can't convince me it would not be a smart move, you would be omega rich.
I'm not disagreeing but from my perspective they need to do more than a few quality of life changes to make the game work along side live maple. Im talking things like: long travel times (Victoria to ludi etc), early iterations of predatory micro transactions(gach, HP washing etc), and slow exp rates/lack of guidance. I'm picturing that I just did many bosses, leveled MULTIPLE characters to 200 this event, make millions of mesos without spending money on NX, and I wonder if a old school maple server will really draw people away from the current game. Again not to be negative or a nay Sayers but the current patch and old-school are all but night and day different games. If the return of a classic server doesn't draw current players to it, and old school players (like me) are turning 30 it's not the biggest financial success to make a old school server if the current game is successful
@@TheWayManREAL I'm well aware, the reason nexon would partake or invest in this venture is to make money. What they need is release the original old school as a non-MMO standalone game with some improvements, so people can play LAN, Dedicated Servers by themselves or just Online Co-op. These are just cash grab, specially Artale.
Does Mapleland in Korea get updates at all? I can see it having an initial burst of popularity on release but I don't know why it would have a long-lasting playerbase when Maple Legends already exists and only has a couple thousand players on at any given time. Oldschool Runescape had a ton of interest when it came out, but it rapidly fell off a cliff until developers actually started pushing good updates that slowly made the game thrive again. I think what it boils down to is after the nostalgia wears off for most people, the game's flaws are made more apparent and people don't feel like putting in the effort to play what is frankly an outdated game. As much as I'd like to see Mapleland succeed, I can't help but feel like it will be as dead as Maple Legends within a few months. Though it will be nice to have a pseudo-official Oldschool version. Also curious - how exactly does NX work in Mapleland? Does it actually go through Nexon or are there in-game methods of acquiring NX such as in Maple Legends?
