@@karagermano3079 @kara kara, I don’t have a cycle anymore, and did OMAD for 3 months, everyday. It broke through the massive insulin resistance I had no idea I had and which kept the weight on me. I was so resistant, I thought I had some kind of genetic setpoint that I was beholden to. But Dr Pelz and others taught me it was hormonal - my insulin levels were constantly high. Now they are relatively and consistently low due to fasting and keto/carnivore, and the weight is peeling off.

I have been fasting for 22-24 hours a day….everyday…for almost a year come July 2023. I also eat all of the healthy foods to make sure I get all of my nutritional needs, but I also eat whatever I want after I eat my healthy meal if I’m still hungry. It’s my way of satisfying my “one meal” lifestyle and it is absolutely the only way that this can be a sustainable lifestyle diet for me for the long haul or I would never stick to anything else. I was on keto for 2+ years before this and didn’t lose as much weight and I was also kind of miserable not having carbs because I was exercising so much and I needed those carbs but didn’t realize it. I am thankful for keto for helping me get back to a healthy weight but fasting jd my happy place! 🎉

I tried fasting in April with an app but every time I clicked "START" I immediately got the urge to eat something, almost like in rebellion of the app. That happened in April and May.
Then, in late May, I found your channel and started listening. I reinstalled the fasting app and started over. On Day One I did 16-8 (successfully) but then on Days 2 thru 6 I did 20-4 (successfully).
On Day 7, because I had been listening to your channel and the 20 hour long fasts went well, I did a 36 hour long fast. Drank only water, coffee, and tea and then twice I did water with electrolytes.
So that was my first week of fasting, and the bonus was a 7 lb weight loss in that first week.
I plan to do the same drill this week and beyond and I'll keep listening to and appreciating your wonderful advice.
    Thank you so much.

Right now I'm doing ADF with OMAD. I eat my meal on Monday, then don't eat again until Wednesday. I can't use those apps either because I found myself checking and checking and getting hungry the more I checked. I'm trying to give myself a break and be more flexible because imo as long as I'm sticking to the general protocol, it's way better than the massive snacking I was doing. I can always refine as I go along

My entire family has done OMAD for four years now and none of us can imagine eating 3 to 4 meals like we used to. Now we gain weight very fast if we eat extra but we don't get tired or feel tired on OMAD. I recently had my arteries checked and they are all clear. My mother had a stroke and my father had a triple by pass. It's nice having control of my heart health and I'm not walking around not knowing if I'm next to drop with a heart attack.

That being said, I read Fast, Feast, Repeat and started doing OMAD. Then I read your book and now do OMAD a couple days a week. They other 5 days I mix it up and do 16 or 18 fast. A couple times a month I do at least a 24/36 hour fast. So far I have maintained my weight loss.

Thank you for the abundant information you are sharing! Very, very helpful! I am a 50 year old OMAD. I did this for more than three years. I did it because I find that eating a second meal will increase bloating to painful levels. I hoped that with time my gut will heal and I can go back to eating 2 meals a day. Not really. When I tested and I eat a second meal it was always the same: the bloating is so disturbing, it's not worth eating at all. I find this lifestyle easy now (things are quiet inside) but as dr. Pelz said it does not work long term. I am slowly gaining weight (even if I did not do OMAD to lose weight, I was at least hoping that my weight will be stable. So I have to implement one of the options presented above and make some changes to see how my body reacts.

Dr Mindy, where you been? I should have found your channel 365 days ago. In January 2023, I started intermittent fasting and working out. By October 2023 I went from 340 to 262. I've been stuck at 262 ever since, and have recently gone up to 275 and have been stuck there for months. I ate between noon and 8pm. Same food. Turkey burger and popcorn for lunch, and a protein, broccoli and a yam (sweet potato) for dinner. EVERY NIGHT. I recently switched to OMAD for a couple months, but am back at intermittent fasting again. The weight isn't coming off anymore. Also, I've slimmed down, but my body composition has mostly stayed the same, even though I'm lifting weights (about 2x a week).

Take Dr. Mindy's words to heart!!!! I am 60/ Female - OMAD for last 4 years after reaching my goal weight 2 years ago... 8 mo. ago my hair started falling out, my skin got very dry & itchy. I started having a runny nose constantly (histamines) and often lost energy in the afternoons. I believe I had a nutrition defecit in spite of supplements. I really liked OMAD but wish I had not pushed it so far. To have what felt like a great healthy lifestyle turn into a health concern was alarming for me. I believe I had to reassess my relationship with food and nutrition - another rabbit hole I didn't want to have to go down.

I do a 20/4 everyday I've done this for years. Within the 4hr window I have a greens drink, 2 protein shakes with oatmeal, and 1 full healthy meal. I suppose you can count the shakes as a meal. I am healthy as healthy can be, no hair loss, no health issues. I dont do this for weight loss as I am at a perfect weight. I do it to stay healthy. I think it's important for those doing any type of fasting to ensure you are getting all the vitamins and minerals everyday. Stay away from sugar, and keep in mind that all carbs turn to glucose, and fruit is loaded with sugar. Education is key here...learn how to get your dailey nutrition (vitamins & Minerals) without loading yourself up with sugar. Get enough fibre within your diet. Eat well stay away from processed foods.

100% 👍I avoid fruit except for tomatoes and a handful of blueberries in salad about twice a week. But the biggest trigger for me as re sugar is bread. I call bread "the last addiction" because it's the one everyone has, and the one nobody talks about. I can eat 1 item with pastry, or 1 piece of cake, and it doesn't trigger me, but 1 slice of bread, and that's it, I can eat bread for the rest of the day. And I don't even LIKE bread, its purely the addiction.

OMAD. Easy to lose weight once you work your way up to OMAD. It is super easy when you only have to eat once a day. It is very addictive at least for me, to stay at one meal a day. The down sides over long term you lose muscle and you get very tired and run down. I am a woman and this is the results that I had with OMAD over about doing this for 1 year. No matter what I ate or how much on OMAD. There is no way for me to sustain OMAD. I continued to stay with OMAD for other health issues I had that seemed to calm down without eating multiple times a day. Thanks Mindy, keep up the great work.

It's not for everyone depending on factors such has diabetes or other health reasons. But if you're perfectly healthy, no problem. I've been doing it for 6 years now. Your body will take about 2 months to figure out your energy distribution throughout the day. I'll wake up and do weight lifting for an hour. Go to work. During lunch I'll go to the emergency staircase and climb stairs or shadowbox for 30 mins. I'll only eat dinner which is around 8pm. With this routine, I can eat whatever I want for dinner and it's usually a really large meal for example 1 large plate of pasta, 6 chicken wings, salad, 1 slice of cake, 2 scoops of ice cream.

Blue collar OMAD here. It works for me because - no bloating, high energy, and mental sharpness in the morning and one large meal at 6pm makes me full and my sleep is much better. Disclaimer; my job is an 8+ hour HIIT workout.

    Hi from Brazil
Before start fasting I saw several videos. And I try to follow 90% and the others 10% I adjust with my and my family daily rotine.
Today (jul-17th) I complete 01 month of OMAD
Surprising......., for me was very easy. I used always to skip breakfast and eat wrong and "junkie foods and beers". So I normaly fast for 15-18 hours...... But always increase weigth these last 13 years.
Now I have 50 years old (honestly I will be 50 in August,16)
    My results
This 31 days fasting I did:
    26 times 24 hs
    2 times 36 hs
    1 time 48 hs
    My numbers
    Start: 176,5 kg (388,3 pounds)
    Today: 164,9 kg (362,8 pounds)
    Loss: 11,6 kg (25,52 pounds)
    Zero Exercise
Food: chicken or fish, with salad (variety), with few rice or potato
Drink: water during day. Tea at night almost all nights.
Hope to do it for more months
    Target 99 kg (217,8 pounds)
Hope all can do it and have good results
One more info...... I have no disease, do check up yearly with good results....... Always joke with my cardiologist that the labs must mistake in my last 15 years/exams
I am doing fast to have more conditions to play with my twins😢

Thanks for this Dr. Mindy. I like to have more variation, but that is also probably because I have yet to be able to get much past a 20 or 21 hour fast. I keep trying, but also do not want to push myself too hard. I had to take a break from fasting a while ago and just started back up.

Every time I fast, I experience a headache or lightheadedness or hunger (etc) right around 20 hours. I put electrolyte powder in my water, drink it, and it goes away within 20-30 minutes.
Then everything is easy after that. I seriously feel I can fast forever. I hope you try it.
Just get to the other side to see how easy it is after that 👍
For example, I would eat dinner at 7pm on Monday. Close to dinner time on Tuesday, I was suffering. I would push through with zero calorie electrolytes (LMNT or similar), and realize I only needed to go to sleep and wake up for it to count as a full 36 hours!
So I went to sleep and accomplished my first 36. It was great. Basically, we get credit for sleeping time 😊

Thank you Dr Mindy, what has been key for me is that since finding your channel and your resources (two weeks ago) is that I understand what I am doing, why I am doing it and when I should be doing it. This has made the fasting process a lot easier for me and has meant that I have been able to tweak the process according to my goals; weight loss, healing, working with my cycle, spiritual etc. I have started to lose weight in this time, and I have also started to see the results of healing some of the issues I have been struggling with for many years (brain fog, digestive issues etc) and more recently my chaotic perimenopause symptoms, though I am still in the early stages of this process. I am 51 years old. I am very grateful to you and your team. Hugs from UK.

And you survived ! Many people (my husband included) are horrified at the idea of missing a meal. I've never eaten breakfast or lunch for most of my adult life (breakfast longer still, I always refused it as a child...lunch was more tricky due to school lunches)

@@Jagski1964 I was because the smell of food first thing in a morning knocked me sick and still does, and then the smell of school lunches cooking. Too early for me. I find that fasting, especially longer than usual, makes me feel more alert and certainly not tired like I've seen it mentioned, ie not eating makes you tired amd grumpy or whatever. Opposite for me. Just wish I didn't have to cook for other people while I'm not eating myself though and there's no chance of my husband joining a fast...more chance of winning the lottery.

2019 weighed in at 270+ pounds started OMAD and working out whilst fasted and lost 60 pounds. Gained back the weight by around 2022 (255+) went back to what works and OMAD really is 🔑. Now 2024 at 210-215 pounds i feel stuck and somehow plateaued in my weight-loss. I am looking for a new way of optimizing my fasts and i shall try for longer and shorter fasts during the week. Cheers!
