I dropped off of Dreams about three days ago because I just couldn’t figure out how to do a custom run, and decided to wait for an actual tutorial. I didn’t expect to get one this great so soon! Thank you so much for this, you pretty much saved my life.
The best known tutorial maker, NeontheCoder, doesn't make tutorials that are comprehensible enough. Moreover, his tutorials are almost always complicated because he doesn't tell about more universal stuff but about how he achived his predetermined goals. So, MrWooshie is one of the best.
Ah, wow! This is PERFECT for what I was looking for! No more floppy limbs! Perfect animations. Thank you so much for this :D Your teaching style is excellent by the way. Best I've come across for Dreams.
Man... You know those "Star Trek: The Next Generation" scenes where they have to figure out some crazy work-around using hardware & software hacks to a computer system's Hysenberg Coupler and then re-calibrating the bio-magnetic containment field coil multipliers before re-routing it through the ODN relays to save the day? I feel like that... But it sure is worth it! :)
I’m really thankful for these videos you are starting to make. Steps are quite easy to follow but I have a small critique of it’s ok with you. When it comes to the animation itself, the way you present it can be very overwhelming. The run for example, you give us a little advice on hot to move the limbs and assure that we will do a good job but then you move on you your next stage and that timeline is packed with tweaks and small animations by limb. What I was truly interested is the part you omit, which is how did you build that timeline.
My apologies. The short version is that I created my animation through puppet mirroring and deanimating half the puppet at a time. I figured this wouldn't be the easiest to explain, because what I did was overcomplicated for what can easily be simplified. Each pose can be made as a full single keyframe, instead of breaking it up as I had done, that can be blended from one pose to the next. It's best to have the final pose be the exact same as the first pose to create a perfect loop. I also omitted any full on animation tutorial as there are amazing, easy to follow ones already on TH-cam :)
This has is by far the best Dreams tutorial I've seen! So informative... learning from the logic in this video, I also know how to make an idle animation now.
I'm so happy that I found your channel and yes I did subscribe. Thank you for your help in making Dream's funnier to play because a lot of this isn't explained very well by Media Molecule. I really appreciate all you're doing so I just wanted to let you know that I will keep watching and sharing your video's with as many people as I possibly can. 👍💯👍
Making a separate timeline for each part of the body - is genius! I didn't even think it would work properly this way . After a long animation I was exhausted, because these balls that shows recording animation prints covered the entire character and it was very difficult to see the process through them, especially any small elements like fingers, and I did not know how to disable it.
The thing that i like the most is the fact that some of the logic its from littlebiplanet, and me,as a logic expert, will find this pretty easy, thanks sumo ❤

Love the tutorials soo far. And how theyre straight to the point without the usual youtube fluff.. Gotta ask is there any reason you broke up the limbs into seperate key frames? Does this help or is this an ocd thing? Ive run into issues where limbs get splayed out all over the show just asking cause if the seperate keyframe per limb helps im going that way?
For me it was just easier to break it up to make adjustments. I didn't go into it as I wanted to keep the video as short as possible, but basically I would animate a leg while having puppet mirror on, then make a clone and have the two duplicate animations placed on the big main timeline. I could then go into each keyframe and deanimate the leg that shouldn't be moving. So for one leg animation I would deactivate the left leg, and for the other I would deactivate the right. After this I would just move one set of keyframes around to have the legs move opposite of one another. The only reason I did this was because I wanted both arms and legs to move the exact same way forwards and backwards. This way was just similar to how I had learned some basic animation back in school :)
Yay I was waiting for this vid! I had ask you on reddit if you could do a video and you delivered, great job! This is really helping me and I look forward to more videos.
You're great in logic. However, I'm sorry to say that your videos are far from being to the point and practical.
