I still think Red should’ve got that Ninetales. Alternatively, him defeating that feral Dratini in Virdian Forest instead of catching it was a total waste-he could’ve given it to Yellow, and her compassion could’ve slowly healed it.
I like that he has the Espeon instead of the Ninetails. It's a fairly good replacement for his Gyarados since he could just fly anywhere he needs to go. And a Ninetails fits better in Blue's overall style of having cooler looking Mons
Red having Espeon is a good fit for him instead of Ninetales because not only does it serve a similar role but also that they can be the most loyal Pokemon to their trainers if treated right. While Yellow having a Dragonite will show her prowess as a healer as she can bring a Pokémon from their feral mentality similar to the Seadra she caught.
I’m sorry if this is random, but I grew up reading the Pokemon manga in my local library after school. There’s such a nostalgia to the art for me. I remember the books I took out of the original adventures arc, reading them in my older cousins room at a family gathering on a late summer night, with the crickets chirping mixed with the sound of his ceiling fan. Seeing Mewtwo caught in the pokeball, showing it off to my cousin whose like 14 years older than me. Your videos breaking down the manga that framed my childhood and love of pokemon in the late 2000s/early 2010s, are just so calming. Watching these at night just takes me back to that time. You are an amazing creator!
What if Red would have caught a Magmar instead of Ninetails? Like, Red caught that Magmar in a burning museum for the PokeDex and it stuck in Red's team, while Giovani killed another Magmar as we saw in manga. And due to Magmar holding a grudge against it's enemy, according to Giovanni, it would refuse to listen to Red, and red would had to earn it's trust (maybe by saving it in a Viridian Gym battle against Giovanni who killed it's brother/sister). Just a thought tho
I think Nihilego makes a lot of sense for Moon because not only it's a poison type, but it is closely ties to Aether Family. I can see Moon receive this Nihilego from Lillie to reverse the toxins to help Lusamine recover.
I'm surprised Blake and Whitley weren't brought up. Blake's team is very limited type wise, and Whitley literally only had two Pokemon until the XY Chapter where she cameoed and was revealed to have been given Delphox
8:50 speaking of that imagine Yvonne’s greninja when using battle bond generates a ninja kite so he can fly alongside Yvonne and talonflame symbolizing their bond through the sky.
I personally would have kept Gold's Sunflora and replaced Sudowudo with Hitmontop, then he and Emerald wouldn't have Pokémon overlap. She's also Gold's only female team member so I can't help but be sad to think of her removed. I liked your other team changes though.
8:25 you realise that her accepting it into her team is part of her learning to accept her mother's fame and reconciling their differences. It’s symbolic.
It’s also the family Pokémon does she even have the right to evoke it if her mother uses that ryhorn to race. That would be like selling the family car for another one.
Pearl's Diglett immediately comes into mind. It's such a frail and odd Pokemon to put on a protagonist's team. They can't even draw the bottom half, how can they draw it in battle? 😂
Red getting the Ninetales can be the counterpart to Blue's Arcanine, seeing as how both of them are version exclusives in the remakes though Espeon would make a good fit as well. Yellow having a Dragonite, as mentioned in a different post, would be an interesting pick to have over Golem because it will show her prowess as a healer and it can be a connection to Lance seeing as how both of them and their Dragonites were from Viridian Forest. As for Emerald, I would have given him a Grumpig over Shedninja. I know it seems like a stretch, but it is to help with type diversity because otherwise it would give Emerald three ghost types, plus Grumpig can serve as a distraction with its ability to mind control foes and turn them against each other as well as help with the raging pokemon Archie unleashed upon the battle frontier. Plus Pearl having a Roserade and Gliscor would be fun to see.
These were some pretty decent changes all around, I don't really think Ninetales fit Red tho, I thought it made sense for Blue to have one, I agree with Gyarados being the one to go, despite how much it pains me since I kind of really liked the story it had and how it tied to Misty. Also yeah Emerald's team was kinda doodoo, getting 3 more Hoenn mons was necessary. Fun video 🔥
I think Greninja should've gone to X, because the Ash-Greninja form more so resembles the X&Y male protag outfit, which Ash just so happens to wear. I know that breaks the traditional rule of how the starter types are rotated, but the B2W2 arc didn't entirely adhere to that rule, and the S&M arc ended up dismissing X's Charizard as part of that rotation (and all later arcs would just stick to fire and grass starters for the male and female protags, so the rotation rule is now null and void). So X could've had both Battle Bonds Greninja and his Mega Charizard X.
4:28 instead of hitmontop I would have gone for hitmonlee. Chuck already has hitmontop as his ace Pokemon and it could compliment Crys who has a complimentary hitmonchan. Plus with his stretchy legs hitmonlee could make some interesting combos with ambipom.
What about Whitley ♘ though? She only has half A Full Pokemon Team (Foongus🍃☠️, Accelgor🪲, & Delphox🔥🔮) I was thinking of giving Her N's Pokémon from Black2 & White2 games including N’s Zorua which would evolve into A Zoroark😈 which surprisingly doesn’t have Major rep in Special manga despite its popularity in games & anime🤔 ALSO I was Inspired by a certain PokeAnime TH-camr to “try” to fix The Movesets of each DexHolder Mon. Giving Them not only better Moves but also Moves fitting for Their respective Character & Battlestyle of Both Mon & Its Trainer. It was crazy challenging BUT it was Fun for me😅🥰
I kinda wish Greens Team wasn't so feminine focused. Like Blastoise fits her and ditto as well with her history as thief but I wish they didn't give her both Clefable and wigglytuff. I think Gengar would fit her style so well, maybe befriending one after her battle with agatha or Persian evolving from meowth. It's why I like characters like Sapphire and Crystal so much as they moved themselves away from the stereotypical teams female trainers where given.
Ideas for: -Whitley ♘ She only has half A Full Pokemon Team (Foongus🍃☠️, Accelgor🪲, & Delphox🔥🔮) I was thinking of giving Her N's Pokémon from Black2 & White2 games including N’s Zorua which would evolve into A Zoroark😈 which surprisingly doesn’t have Major rep in Special manga despite its popularity in games & anime🤔 -X😑 Give Him The Gift Lucario that can Mega from Korrina in games -Moon🧪 Poipole➡️Naganadel. replacing the gyarados...just driving a deeper wedge between Adventures Red and Adventures Misty like Yellow hasn't done that enough already🤣 I joke but Ninetales would be a great substitute for him especially since it is fire type coverage
Red having Ninetales would be a bit of a problem though, since... obviously, him and Blue can't have it at the same time, and both having one for no real reason would be a bit iffy as well. So... easy solution would be to give Blue an Arcanine instead, he catches one later for his gym-team anyways (and uses it alongside Ninetales), and then if we give him a Gyarados to replace the Arcanine he catches later on, he'd even use his exact same gym-team as the one in Gen 2! I also don't really agree with the idea that protagonists should only use Pokemon that got added in their respective generation, I feel that kinda doesn't reflect the setting of the games well, since even older Pokemon sometimes can be iconic additions to your party, so I feel that limiting it to Pokemon that can be caught in a game before the league makes much more sense. On that note, that'd still disqualify both Diglett and Tauros for Pearls team (even though I do think Tauros fits him quite well), but I'm also not really a fan of Gliscor to replace one of them, since Gliscor isn't really a "fast" Pokemon either, its main mode of movement is gliding after all. What I'd personally replace it with is Rampardos, which contrasts Diamonds Bastiodon. In general the Roserade is probably fine, it's also part of his team in the games after all when he has Infernape. As for Y, the ironic part about giving her Hawlucha is that it also can't participate in Sky Battles in the games, and while the manga could of course sidestep game logic, in general Hawlucha still feels like too much of a grounded fighter for someone specializing in Sky Battles, being inspired by wrestling and its signature move literally being it plunging onto the ground. A better option could be Pidgeot, since it's an early game flying-type, and also if we expand from just XY to Gen 6 in general it of course received a Mega Evolution in ORAS, with no one using it during the ORAS-arc. Alternatively, Scizor could work really well to diversify her typings, with Scyther being able to participate in Sky Battles at least, and of course Scizor has the option to Mega Evolve. Lastly for Moon, I'm not totally on board with Nihilego for... general plot reasons, iirc the SM-arc still used UB-fused Lusamine, so... anyone catching Nihilego and catching it like a regular team member doesn't really sit right with me. The same kinda goes for Naganadel and probably also Kartana as being quite fitting for her but not really due to story-reasons, although Kartana as well as Celesteela are on the less problematic end of all the Ultra Beasts iirc, so either of them could work on Moons team, if it has to be an Ultra Beast.
Honestly I think you should go further like with Casey and Whitley teams since well they definitely need work. For example Whitley I would give her a team that have Pokémon that was abandon or mistreated keep foongus and Delphox but also add swoobat since it a friendship evolution and I could see her taking care of one. Next one I wouldn’t be surprised she took care of the purrlion that n have used something as a homage of how well they want to be with a trainer. And maybe depend on the mood one of ghetsis pokemon as they are the one who are the most mistreated
I think Arcanine would fit Red's personality better than Ninetales, one gives more energic vibes while other has a calmer and almost smuggy appearence that fits Blue better. Also since in the Johto arc Red trades his Ghyarados with Blue's Charizard, and in the same arc Blue catches an Arcanine, the latter could just be Red's.
Gonna be so fr: while Gyarados is kinda red’s least necessary member I wouldn’t change a thing about Red’s team. It’s iconic, and practically lacking a fire type isn’t *that* bad especially because he has fire coverage with like half of his team, and snorlax can definitely take the electric typing weakness
I think that Moon should get a Galarian Rapidash, because it's ability, Pastel Veil, is connected to the Poison status, and her sister also have a Rapidash.
I totally agree about Pearl's last two additions being so random. However, I would take that opportunity to replace them with some Hisuian pokemon if a Legends: Arceus chapter had ever been written. I would choose Hisuian Samurott and Hisuian Electrode, which I know both have type overlaps with the other four, but the former fits his personality best of the Hisuian starters (and in any case, the other two Hisuian starters have a type overlap with Infernape), and the latter is speedy (and the fastest of all the Hisuian Pokemon).
Honestly I think Moon should get Naganadel, especially since of the ultra beast it’s the one that seemingly bonds with humans the most, I would have given her the one used by the ultra recon squad
Honestly I agree with the Red's one. Everytime I replayed Pokemon Adventure Red Chapter with Red's team for story purpose, there were many times where I wished that I had a Fire Type.
Reds team honestly doesn’t need any fixing. Fire type doesn’t really add anything to his team, epically if we’re talking generation one. If anyone needed fixing, it was Green. Her team is quite terrible.
Hiw is that Ash got more flying tyoes in one region then Y did in the manga she needs to take some notes considering the one you suggested were also on his team being Haulucha and Noivern
Is this just a longwinded way of saying: Blue, Green, Silver, Crys, Ruby, Sapphire, Diamond, Platinum, Black, Blake, Whitley, X, etc already have perfect teams?
Moon should get Naganadel instead. For one it probably wouldn't bring bad memories and also it's tail looks like a needle also it's rep for the ultra games since ash didn't het to use his much.
I feel like blake's team is ass, like i didn't get to the B2W2 part so idk about if story purposes and yes ig his team is to showcase that the unova dex got more options but the picks of kabutops and gliscor are ass, I feel like if he needed 2 other pokemons + extra one for the missing slot then Lucario and Arcenine and maybe also krookodile, also why 2 legendries?
My only question is why you didn't do all of them? during the intro, aside from the ones you covered in this video, you showed, Blake, Ruby, Platinum, Black, X, and casey. BUt they didn't appear in this video. IS it because their teams are good enough or you just don't wanna cover them?
I still think Red should’ve got that Ninetales. Alternatively, him defeating that feral Dratini in Virdian Forest instead of catching it was a total waste-he could’ve given it to Yellow, and her compassion could’ve slowly healed it.
I like that he has the Espeon instead of the Ninetails. It's a fairly good replacement for his Gyarados since he could just fly anywhere he needs to go. And a Ninetails fits better in Blue's overall style of having cooler looking Mons
Yellow having a Dragonite would've been so cool, especially if it wasn't a battler and took on a healer role with its head noodles
YES THIS especially since her connection to lance and his dragon types her having a dragonite would work so well because of their connection
Silver literally has 3 water Pokémon when there are better options that fit his personality
Such a genius idea for a video! Pearl definitely needs it the most, I hate that he uses Buizel and Diglett so late into the story
Said moment late into the story where he gets Buizel, Diglett & Tauros: **Pearl fucked everything up and Sinnoh is doomed because of him**
Omg it's Magnus
Espeon should be on Ted's team permanently and Gyarados just brought in as needed
I figured Vee was another of Red’s Pokemon that is permanently with him

You're not wrong about a region focused team. Every new gen, I tried to focused using that region pokemon because they are new.
The GOAT Is back so soon? hey hey hey whats this new editing style 🔥👀

The teams are absolutely amazing and this is a spectacular video.
And happy new year 🎈🎆🎊
I personally would have kept Gold's Sunflora and replaced Sudowudo with Hitmontop, then he and Emerald wouldn't have Pokémon overlap. She's also Gold's only female team member so I can't help but be sad to think of her removed. I liked your other team changes though.
This is a great video! (Just like every single other one) keep up the amazing work you do this year. Pokemon Ranger pls!
I've done playthroughs of older games using the same teams as several manga characters, mainly Red, Yellow, and Gold's teams.
1:44 that goes counterintuitive to the story where he was trying to get the means to teach poli surf but lost it.
Not to mention Gyra has recurring appearances prior to Red owning him, which involves Red actually capturing and befriending him for Misty.
In addition, it’s pretty clear that the writers wanted to spread out the HM moves
Love this discussion, thanks for making the video!
Loved the Sonic Unleashed OST in the beggining ;)
I think Diamond should've had a Drifblim. It would give him a flying pokemon that still fits with his team.
Ironic since he had fantina’s Drifblim on hand and used it in an attempt to save mesprit.
I love how you gave Pearl agile Pokémon given his hasty nature
6:48 id actually swap roserade with rapidash. Sure the fire type is covered by Infernape but the lore of rapidash and it being in sinnoh is perfect
I think Moon should get a Piplup on her team. Since her entire journey was for Piplup, she should have that Piplup on her team.
Pearl's Diglett immediately comes into mind. It's such a frail and odd Pokemon to put on a protagonist's team. They can't even draw the bottom half, how can they draw it in battle? 😂

I’m in sync with bro 6:32

These teams are amazing, fantastic work! And I agree, Gyarados for Red always felt odd, that's why Espeon was given.

Not going to lie, that Yellow sprite is kind of cool. Still holding out for a LGPE adaptation one day…
for decades, still waiting for yellow to get back to the story (waifu of my primary school days)
Wheres the complete story part 8 veevolt?

I would love to see this guy rate fanmade teams 😂
Honestly I agree with the Red's one. Everytime I replayed Pokemon Adventure Red Chapter with Red's team for story purpose, there were many times where I wished that I had a Fire Type.
What story purposes would he need a Fire type?
i wish ninetales got more love in the official media
What program do you use to balance the teams? Like seeing what type matchups n such? I’d love to use that for the future
Solid improvements.👏🏿 Though for Pearl, Absolutely give him the gliscor, a much better improvement for his clowning self
Guess Whitley has a fitting team, considering you didn’t look into her 3 Pokémon team in the video
Gold is also my fav specially after finding out we share birthdays uwu
Hold up when did they color the manga
I think red shouldve used the nidoking from the safari zone
Amazing Video🤩😮🤯😂🥺😊❤️
I agree
Great video
No offence to Sunflora ,but yeah I knew Sunflora will be axed
Is this just a longwinded way of saying: Blue, Green, Silver, Crys, Ruby, Sapphire, Diamond, Platinum, Black, Blake, Whitley, X, etc already have perfect teams?

I feel like blake's team is ass, like i didn't get to the B2W2 part so idk about if story purposes and yes ig his team is to showcase that the unova dex got more options but the picks of kabutops and gliscor are ass, I feel like if he needed 2 other pokemons + extra one for the missing slot then Lucario and Arcenine and maybe also krookodile, also why 2 legendries?
I dont think Hawlucha can participate in sky battles.
I think Red should’ve had arcanine
GOOOOD!!!!!!!!
My only question is why you didn't do all of them?
during the intro, aside from the ones you covered in this video, you showed, Blake, Ruby, Platinum, Black, X, and casey. BUt they didn't appear in this video.
IS it because their teams are good enough or you just don't wanna cover them?
Great team I loved it
Evil team leader and admin, games / manga I think it's cool and not a lot video about them
I hated Henry Sword's team,
Bro i want diamond a good team
Your teams are trash except for Red and Gold
They were really bad
I like your Channel but do better next time
